Promasters – Toastmasters Int’l Club at Mimi’s Cafe

I have been a member of this Toastmasters organization for almost a year now, and I feel fortunate to have found a gem in Foster City. At first, dreaded the idea of waking up at the crack of dawn to attend weekly meetings. However, I now look forward to a perfect start to my Thursdays.
What gets me out of bed at 6:00 to drive down a congested 101?
Constructive atmosphere — all members are lavish with their praise and fair with their criticism. I am a more confident speaker because of Promasters.
Strong leadership — unlike what most of us have or are experiencing, leaders run meetings very efficiently. Club officers are friendly yet professional. They also encourage other members to serve as officers and take on leadership roles.
Excellent network — I have met a diverse group of professionals who seek to improve themselves. Some have become my mentors.
I’d continue to write, but I just remembered … I have to prepare my speech!

Similar to some of the reviewers, I came here once to check out their regular 7:30 am Thursday meeting and I was hooked! I joined the club in September and last Thursday I gave my first Icebreaker speech. It was such good experience and I can see myself overcoming the fear of public speaking and giving more of both impromptu and prepared talk on any subject, and becoming more and more confidence speaking in front of a congregation. The crowd was an intelligent, friendly and inspiring group of people coming from all walks of life. The meetings were very well organized and the mentor and education manuals are very helpful. Like anything else in life, you get as much out of it as how much you put in.
Oh, and Mimi’s has a good breakfast menu so you can get a nice breakfast there while enjoying hearing interesting speeches and positive feedback on the speeches as well. It’s like, one stone and many birds down.

This club is simply the best. If you want to improve and develop presentation and public speaking skills, do it in a friendly, encouraging and fun atmosphere — come to Mimi’s. First, this club meets at 7:30 and they get the business done, its well-​run. Second, meeting are held at Mimi’s café, with good breakfast menu. Third, diverse and intellectual crowd, 1 hour meeting feels like NPR immersion, you learn a lot. Forth, lots of humor, positive energy.
I joined after my first try, and am hooked.

I can not say enough good about this club.
When I first arrived there, I had such a hard time speaking in front of people. It was getting in my way professionally.
The structure of the club facilitates improvement in both planned and extemporaneous speaking and the members are so supportive.
…And the breakfast at Mimi’s is great. I highly recommend this Toastmaster’s club to anyone who has even the slightest angst about speaking or anyone wanting to hone their already strong speaking skills.

As a past Area Governor, I have seen a lot of Toastmasters clubs. If you want professional level speaking support and professional level fun, this is the club for you!

Having visited several clubs prior to joining Promasters, I believe we are one of the top 3 clubs in our division and the only breakfast club.
Promasters has a rich diversity of members including culture, age and business backgrounds that provide very interesting and entertaining speeches.
We are very organized. Our VP of education tracks all member speeches to make sure we meet our personal and club objectives.
As a new member you will be assigned a ‘mentor’ to help you assimilate into the club, program and assist with initial speeches. You are not left out on a limb to figure it out. We are very supportive of our membership.
Promasters offers wonderful fellowship and fraternity. We have quarterly Saturday meetings to provide another venue for speaking opportunities and advanced presentations.
Promasters also has a quarterly club pot luck party that provides a venue to get to know each other and hone our table topic skills. The last two parties went to almost midnight with re-​enactment of a ‘late night’ talk show with our esteemed President interviewing members. It was hilarious!
Promasters members include the reigning Table Topics and International Speech Contest winners and the former Division Humorous Speech Contest winner.
By joining Promasters for only $ 52 per 6 month membership, you will learn to educate, enrich and entertain your family, friends and business associates when speaking, as well as contribute to the rich tapestry of diversity in our club!

If you are looking for a supportive, constructive and fun way to improve your public speaking and presentation skills look no further, ’cause this is a great bunch of self-​motivated, disciplined and very encouraging individuals. This group, Promasters, has a healthy number of members who actively and consistently participate in the weekly meetings, all at varying degrees of experience. The morning meetings make it very convenient to attend while also grabbing some breakfast. I highly recommend this group, I first attended as a guest and became a member soon after.

This is a great group of friendly supportive people who are or are becoming excellent speakers. Having a place to practice public speaking is great. This club not only provides a place, it also provides fantastic encouragement and helpful suggestions to improve speaking skills. I felt welcome the first time I visited and have been a member ever since. The skills learned here help in all areas of life. This is a fun club.

Toastmaster’s clubs vary greatly in organization, membership and quality. Promaster’s has a great combination of relaxed atmosphere and professional speaking. Working on your skills is a safe, up beat environment is the best way to learn. I highly recommend this group.

The members of Promasters Club represent the diversity of Bay Area. That’s what attracted me to the club in a first place. What made me return was a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. I am an early bird and attending early morning meetings gives me a great boost and helps me to start a day with a positive «i can do it» attitude. Imagine a large loving family getting together for a holiday celebration. That is exactly how i feel coming to the meetings every Thursday morning. Club has many experienced members that are willing to share their knowledge with everyone. It allows all members to improve quickly in public speaking skills.

I just love this place!
The first day I walked in as a guest, I loved it. I loved the energy and I loved the smell. Energy came from the people. And the smell emanated from pancakes and coffee. That’s good, because the opposite would have been a disaster :)
I immediately decided that I want to become friends with all these people and that, this is the place I want to practice speaking.
Just imagine a room full of positive people, ranging from gifted speakers to novices (like me). Further imagine that they are all cheerful to just see you, to hear you talk, to watch you progress. And now to that add good breakfast and coffee, once a week. You have a picture of my club.

I’ve been a member of Promasters for several years. This is a great group of people who are dedicated to improving their public speaking skills. It’s a structured yet fun environment where you can develop your speaking skills while having a scrumptious breakfast. Our members talk about a wide variety of interesting and current topics.
We meet early every Thursday morning at 7:30 AM, so if you are not an early riser this is not the format for you. But if you are motivated to improve your presentation and speaking skills and you enjoy participating in a group setting, please join us at Mimi’s Café.

An excellent group to learn elocution and the speaking arts in a low stress and friendly environment. If you have ever wanted to brush up on presentation and public speaking skills or if you want to build confidence to network and speak like a pro, Toastmasters provides a proven program that guides you through logical exercises that increase your abilities quickly. I would think that if you are job hunting, all things being equal, the better speaker and leader has the edge in the job market. The bonus is these meetings take place over breakfast.
