Alex Frade, DDS

Got an implant from Alex about five months ago. The whole procedure was painless and so far so good, my new molar can, grind, chew and chomp as good as the one my DNA fashioned years ago. And if you need a dog sitter during the appointment there is a groomer just down the road. so if your pooch needs a bath you can kill two birds with one stone.

Dr. Frade was suggested to me by a friend. I needed a crown and the dentist I had been using seemed to be a bit overpriced. I was looking for a dentist who would charge fairly and be competent.
There is nothing to say but compliments. The work was done well and the cost was reasonable. The staff, both Lou, the receptionist and the hygienist who has been cleaning my teeth ever since, are competent and professional.
There are a couple of idiosyncratic issues. I have replacement knees and the climb up two flights to the office is a bit of a drag, but doable. Maybe they should put in an elevator just for me. ;-) The second is that dental staff seem to learn a way of speaking that is somewhat offensive. Their interactions are given in paternal forms. I have noticed this same manner in every dental office I have ever visited. For a long time, I visited Mexico on a regular basis and had my dental work done by my dentist there (In Mazatlan). It was the same there. Since he was trained in the US, I wonder if this is just «baked» into the dental school experience.
When I mentioned to Dr. Frade’s hygienist that she was talking to me as though I were a child, she took my critique in the friendly manner it was meant and did her best to overcome.

I had been Dr Frade’s patient for 1 year and during that time, he suggested I get a crown because one of my teeth was cracked. I agreed but I never felt any pain in this tooth. However, he said it was necessary as I may lose the tooth if it gets infected.
Before the crown was put on that tooth, I never had any issues. After the crown was put on, my tooth became extremely sensitive to cold and heat.
After having my crown examined by multiple dentists, I learned that Dr Frade installed the crown on top of a Mercury filling (amalgam). Typically the crown should be placed on a clean tooth, with no residual material left inside.
That was 2 years ago. Now, after going through 3 days of intense pain, I went to see my current dentist and he said I’ll need to get a root canal due to nerve in the tooth dying.
I strongly believe Dr Frade did a horrible job on my crown, which caused the tooth to become extremely sensitive for years and eventually causing the tooth to die.
His staff is great, but look elsewhere and always get a 2^nd or 3^rd opinion.

He is the best!!! We drive almost 4 hours to see him. He explains what he is doing and is very gentle. His office very clean and the staff are very professional and kind…

I LOVE DR.FRADE.
I first heard about them when i purchased a teeth whitening coupon.
I have been at this office for about a year now, I had a deep cleaning done some follow up cleanings and just recently got my wisdom teeth pulled.
I was terrified to get my wisdom teeth pulled when I found out they were not going to put me to sleep. However, the staff was so accomdating and so relaxed and confident that i felt relaxed and reassured. No matter the procedure Dr. Frade is always gentle, in giving the shots and he always assures that I am comfortable and not feeling any pain. His assistant (sorry I didnt catch her name) adjusted the laughing gas to my comfort zone constantly and made sure that i was comfortable. The procedure took about 2 hours and it was difficult because i have strong roots so instead of pulling all 4 we only did 3 (we decided I had had enough). The pain was not unbearable mainly just tugging and pulling, however by the time we got to the 3^rd one the numbing was wearing off and i had just had enough.
The staff is very professional, punctual, and well groomed. The office is very clean and relaxing and the equipment is state of the art. I have recommended this office to many people and I will continue to do so.
Most importantly for me what I love is that they make you feel comfortable. When i first came in i hadnt been to the dentist in years because i was gone for college, my teeth were jacked and they made me feel comfortable. They didnt scold me or make me feel bad for not taking better care and thats what i have always feared. They are very understanding and relatable and you can tell they love their job. Best dentist i have ever been to hands down!

We met Dr. Frade and the staff years ago and wouldn’t go anywhere else. My children LOVE going to the dentist and so do my husband and I.
The office is clean and current while the staff is kind and professional. They make you feel like family and put your oral health as their top priority. They are personable and honest and I greatly appreciate that. Many dentists I’ve encountered in the past have tried to recommend work I didn’t need. You won’t get that pressure with Dr. Frade. Dr Frade and his staff treats every patient uniquely. Lou the Office Manager is patient and very helpful not to mention great at what she does. Gladys is very skilled and thorough with her work as well as nice. All the staff ROCKS!
If you haven’t met this team yet, you must! I promise you will feel the same way.

Fear of fillings? Afraid of abscesses? Nervous about Novocaine? Dr. Frade puts you at ease!
I haven’t been to the dentist in years because I hate going to the dentist — but Dr. Frade was highly recommended by a friend so I coaxed myself back in.
The burbling fountain at the entrance and the gorgeous lighting and décor in the office totally set me at ease.
His staff is impeccable, attractive and well groomed. Everything is top notch and state of the art here. The X ray machine is like something out of Star Trek!
I was terrified and late to my appointment but his staff was very understanding and sympathetic and totally put me at ease. The beautiful view from the dentist chair of green hills and Zen statues and plants is a big step up from my old dentist’s office with it’s poster of a redwood tree on the ceiling!
Dr. Alex is so chill and so mellow, kind, warm and relaxed that my fears dissolved immediately.
He did not subject me to any unnecessary procedures and his work was pain free, gentle and expertly done. If you live in Marin and are looking for a dentist, I highly recommend Dr. Frade.

Best dentist I have ever had. Your appointment starts on time, they are friendly with out being «bank teller» fake friendly. I’ll still never get excited about going to the dentist, but at least Dr. Frade and his staff make it as pleasant, quick and painless as possible.

I called the dentist in the morning for a dental emergency. I gave them my insurance info. when I arrived for my appointment at 2pm they said they won’t except my insurance. I’m leaving on a trip. They put me in a really tough situation. I would never recommend this dentist.

My first time to see Dr. Frade. Very friendly office! I had my first implant done and was a bit nervous. Dr. Frade made me feel very comfortable as well as the hygenist. They made sure I had no discomfort at all. Aside from the state-​of-​the-​art equipment he is obviously highly skilled in implants as the procedure was fast and I felt no pain whatsoever. If you are considering an implant, I highly recommend Dr. Frade!

Dr. Frade and his staff are really nice. Every time you go in, they are friendly and warm. Appointments usually happen on time, which is nice because they don’t make you wait. The dental hygienists are also great and thorough on teeth cleanings (Gladis is my favorite).
My experience with Dr. Frade has been a bit frustrating as he removed a bunch of silver fillings and replaced them with composite filings (which was something that needed to happen). But my back tooth had to be completely redone after Dr. Frade did it. He replaced the filling, but there was a gap between the teeth. He had to drill it all again and build it up again.
Today I found out (from my new dentist) that it still wasn’t done right. I now have to get that filing done for a third time in 24 months. As nice as Dr. Frade is, a dentist should be able to handle doing a basic filling. Also, their parking lot is not very user friendly.
I decided to go to a different dentist but I’m sure other people will probably not have the experience I had.

I may revise this as I am still trying to feel my way through… Gladis, the hygentist is great. I have TMJ and have avoided dental offices since I was injured by a previous hygentist, so I come to her with LOTS of baggage. Gladis was patient and caring and I really appreciate that. Today is the day after my cleaning and I feel great. I am not overly sore from the procedure and that is a BIG plus. I’ll certainly give Gladis another try and as mentioned, may revise my rating at a later time.
Additional note: If you are thinking of coming here and don’t have issues such as mine, please try it out for yourself. I have a very particular issue and those with similar issue will rate my review based on what they are looking for. So, if you don’t have TMJ and your jaw doesn’t lock, you will also probably LOVE Gladis bcz she is great. Additionally, the office is very nicely decorated and the staff are friendly. Moreover, from what I understand, Dr Frade is a great boss and treats his staff very well. These are all important factors for me when I am looking for a dentist. My interactions with Dr Frade have been minimal, so can’t really rate him yet. More to follow!

I love Dr. Frade’s office. He is the best dentist I have ever had. His entire staff contains top notch professionals that know how to make their patients feel at ease.
My daughter recently had her wisdom teeth pulled and was amazed at how fast she healed with very little discomfort. Dr. Frade made every effort to insure that she would be comfortable throughout all phases of her procedure.
Last week, I opted to get my fillings replaced without Novocaine and did not feel any pain at all. Dr. Frade was very careful and attentive and constantly reminded me if I felt any pain to lift my left hand and thank God I didn’t need to. After that, I knew without a doubt I had found a family dentist that I could highly recommend to my best friends.

I had a really bad experience with this Dentist.
I like to pass that out because I hope nobody has this bad
luck that I had.
He was very severe with me all the way through my treatment, hurt my mouth all the time I was in pain healing from cuts for a week.
If you are anesthetized you won’t really know but trust me he is very bad.
Don’t try it.
