What a terrible service!!! Is the first time a see only one person at the teller, other people they chatting and not caring about what is going on, lot custumers waiting in line, and some of them just get mad and start leaving, what a dissapointment for now just what experiencie i had today but i will give another time and see if is there any improvement.

Yet another one star review for this lame institution.
I went in yesterday to cash a 5k check. manager says «I’m sorry sir, we don’t have enough hundreds, we will have to give you all 20’s, or you can come back tomorrow» Really? This is a large bank in a large town, and you don’t even have fifty one hundred dollar bills? I went back today, late afternoon, and SAME STORY!
RIDICULOUS!!!

Another insult from Bank of America.
I deposit over 50k a month in a commercial account here and they would not even cash a 1.50 check made out to me, as I don’t have a personal account.
Well, I would never have a personal account at B of A and am treated so much better at my Credit Union.
It’s usually a hassle to make a simple deposit downtown. Long lines, slow tellers. You would think B of A would try to do better and might even be able to afford another teller, perhaps a pleasant one.
One star is too much for them!

I have no complaint with the tellers, but I have HUGE complaints about the company’s treatment of its customers AND tellers — especially when it comes to safety.
A few weeks ago I was in line and a man in front of me was working with the teller. He proceeded to litter all over the floor WHILE talking to the teller. I’m not talking «oops I dropped a receipt and walked away», I’m talking «I’m just pulling all my used snot rags out of my bag and throwing them on the floor for everyone to watch».
Let me back up for a minute and point out that there is ALWAYS a «security guard» around… but somehow he conveniently wasn’t available to have this man pick up his garbage…
So, I tell the man to please pick up his garbage and not make the employees do it. He proceeds to spend five minute grabbing his crotch and screaming at me that I’m a fascist, then he spent another five minutes NOSE TO NOSE with me in my face (I’m a 5′ female) telling me he’d beat the shit out of me.
At this point I was uncomfortable with the scene we were making, so I told him I’d be happy to discuss this further with him outside after I’d finished my transaction.
At this point, he told me he couldn’t wait to beat me up and that he’d be outside.
This was not a subtle interaction, this was a man screaming at the top of his lungs for about 10 – 15 minutes, followed by him storming outside and pacing haughtily as he waited for me to come out.
All of the tellers (females) looked scared and nervous, many of them apologized to me, telling me «he always does that».
So…my question is… what the fuck, Bank of America? You seriously put your employees at risk for some piece of trash who probably doesn’t have enough in his account to make it worthwhile (and even if he did, this just really puts your lack of principles as a company on display)? And where the fuck did your security guard go? Because he sure as hell didn’t handle the situation. He appeared out of nowhere the instant the guy went outside, and I think he told the guy to leave, but that’s fucking it? Seriously?
You have a violent asshole come into a ROOM FULL OF PEOPLE’S MONEY and behave like that? Like, you could pay for a nightclub BOUNCER and have better security than you do now.
So, yeah, I mean, I know you’re a bank and thus translate to the root of most evil, but it’s pretty embarrassing on your behalf to be so open and upfront with it to the point that you risk the safety of your customers and employees.
But it’s not like you read any of this shit — that’s why your Unilocal reviews are so low. Way to epic fail, BoA.

Omg. Service sucks. Don’t come to this branch. Longest wait ever, and I just walked out.

The branch that makes me consider to change all my accounts to another bank. Misspelling our business name on the check books, misspelling our names on the credit cards, forgetting requests, unexperienced tellers, etc.
No wonder why they changed 3 managers in a year!

As other reviews have indicated, customer service does not exist at this branch. I personally bank at Wells Fargo down the street and have always been treated thoughtfully and I always leave Wells Fargo feeling good about my banking experience. Not so with BofA. The tellers are the worst ever.

I hate BofA and now I really hate them because of this branch. I tried to deposit a check for my BLIND father with his social and the b$tch at the counter said they weren’t supposed to do this. I don’t understand why as I have deposited dozens of checks for him at other branches with his social. He doesn’t know his account number and isn’t great with paperwork after he and my mom divorced. So it infuriated me when she told me to have him fax me a bank statement and when I said that was impossible, she had the audacity to tell me that he must have a caretaker that can handle this. Horrible experience. Do your banking elsewhere. I will go to my regular branch in sf tomorrow where there wont be an issue. Argh!!!

Warning: this is a long winded rant. Short version: do your banking elsewhere.
Going to Guatemala in two weeks, need some local currency, called Quetzales. I have an account at B of A in downtown San Rafael, so I think I can get it done there. I check the website. They do have Quetzales, if you order them in advance. How to order? I call my branch in downtown San Rafael, but nobody answers. It is 11 am on a Tuesday. That’s odd, I thought. The next day I stop by. The teller tells me «we don’t do that.» I disagree politely, saying that the bank’s website advertises that you do. No we don’t, repeats the teller. I ask to speak to the manager.
I have the same conversation with the manager. I offer to show her the website. She relents, says, well, we do offer that service, but we don’t have the currency here. I know that, I just want to order it. She says you can’t do that here. You have to call customer service. I am in the bank but I have to call a 1 – 800 number, the one where they put you on hold for 30 minutes? Yes, she says. Could I order it online? She says no. I leave, disgusted.
Later I check the website. After some hunting, I find out that I can order it online, and they will deliver it to my local branch within 5 days. They will contact me when it arrives. Great. I order it. They take the US money out of my checking account immediately.
5 days go by. No contact from the bank. 8 days go by. Still no contact. I call the branch, but again, no one answers. What kind of business doesn’t answer the phone? After many rings I get patched over to customer service. I play voice mail Rumba through a dozen menus, wait on hold for 20 minutes, then I speak to a human, who puts me on hold and cuts me off. Dial tone. Elapsed time 31 minutes. They still have my money, so I call again. 18 minutes later I speak to Chris. I explain my story. Chris puts me on hold, but comes back a few minutes later, says the Quetzales were sent to the branch 4 days ago. I received no notice. Chris says they must be there by now, let me contact the branch. After 10 minutes he comes back on, says that no one will answer the phone at the branch. They don’t even answer the phone for their own people? Chris recommends that I go to the branch personally to pick up the money. I am not thrilled.
I go to the branch. I speak to a different teller. She checks in back, then says they don’t have the money. But our friend Chris said it was sent four days ago. She looks puzzled, goes to her manager. The manager goes to the vault, then comes over to tell me the same thing. I tell her with barely restrained anger that it must be here, because I ordered it 8 days ago, and customer service said it was here. She goes back behind the walls. The teller asks me to move aside so she can see other customers. After ten minutes the manager comes back. We do have the money, she says, without a hint of irony. I wait. She has nothing in her hands. She just stares at me. Well, where is it, I ask. She says «I can’t give it to you.» Why not? Because its not in your name. What? I ordered it! You were a witness to my futile attempts to order it here! It turns out that the money was sent in my wife’s name. Well, we have a joint checking account, both of our names are on it. No, your wife will have to pick it up herself. I leave before I am moved to violence. The next day my wife picks up the Quetzales. We had a nice trip. I hate B of A

Has terrible service. Most of the tellers refuse to make eye contact and the only thing they’ll say to you while you’re being helped is hi. They then go on to act like you aren’t there or are inconveniencing them.

I held Power of Attorney and am now Executor of my mother’s very modest estate. My mother had read that upon her death that we could avoid the expense of probate by having myself, my brother and my sister as co-​owners on her accounts. She had each of us fill out signature cards and added us over three years ago.
When my mother became unable to handle her own finances, I took over and came to find out that the B of A had transferred my brother’s military saving account under my mother’s account and stopped sending him statements or allowing him access. Over a period of two years I went into the San Rafael branch many times trying to straighten this out as did my brother. Each time either of us went in, the staff would verifiy that we had access to our mother’s accounts and then go through a show of examining the account in question, telling us they would look into it, filing an inquery with their investigation office and telling us they would call us back, which of course they never did.
A few days after my mother died I went in to inform the B of A in San Rafael. I spoke to the Asst Manager, Ange. She told me once again that I had access to all of my mother’s accounts as did my brother and sister. She made a copy of my mother’s will and death certificate and told me that we could withdraw the money at any time.
Two weeks ago I went in to do just that, withdraw the money and split it three ways as my mother wanted. I was told by the first person I spoke to at the San Rafael branch that I wasn’t a co-​owner on the account! When I persisted she said that the person who my mother had given the signature cards to three years before «didn’t follow the right process» and that person had left and the B of A couldn’t do anything to help me.
I continued to question what had happened and the same asst manager, Ange, who I’d spoken to before came over. I asked her if she remembered me and she said «yes» and rattled off some of what we had talked about before. I explained I wanted to withdraw money from my mother’s account. She sat down where the other woman had been and started reviewing the account. When she finished typing, she turned to me and said «you’re not on the account, only your mother is».
I was livid by this point, as you might expect. I asked how I could have been on the account when I saw her last just a few weeks ago and now wasn’t? She said she didn’t know, but I couldn’t withdraw any money from my mother’s account. I asked for a record of everyone at the bank who had touched the account since the last time I’d been in. Ange said she couldn’t do that because my name wasn”t on the account!
Ange said that she could tell from the signature card if I had access to the account. I thought «great», that shouldn’t take too long, but then Ange said she would need to file an investigation, it would take up to 10 working days, but she would call me after 5.
After 5 days, no call from Ange, I half expected that. Yesterday, a call from someone else at the San Rafael branch telling me that my signature card had «disappeared» and that Ange was filing another investigation that I wouldn’t hear the results of for another ten days.
If you want to be taken advantage of by Bof A, especially the San Rafael branch, I feel sorry for you. If I can ever get my mother’s savings out of the B of A, I hope to never have any further dealings with them. If you want good service join a credit union, they belong to their members, are much safer than the big banks and have their own no fee ATM network.

Dismal mistake, customer service does not exist. My sad story: I suddenly inherited the job of managing my parents’ financials & thought it would be convenient to just move our account to a local branch. I was totally unprepared for how poorly I was treated, and the number of hoops I had to go through, even though I had carried a legal trust in one hand and about $ 50,000 of new money in the other. Not surprisingly, their manager had recently quit. Perhaps they are as rude to each other as they are to their customers! I’m trying to extract myself, and take my business to Redwood Savings & Loan, just down the street.

I am so delighted.
I was so locked in there: 2 small business accts, 2 checking accts, 1 credit card, 1 savings acct. They are too big to care.
After receiving $ 25 Billion in bailout funds and after buying Merrill Lynch without telling us about the losses, they STILL treat us like we don’t matter.
We CAN leave. I just did, and went to Bank of Marin. I am feeling good about myself.
BofA ought to be extinct by year end.

I used to bank here when I lived in San Rafael, and always preferred to walk in, as opposed to using the drive thru ATM (though they also have drive thru windows as well)… Last week I tried the drive thru ATM, which I have always found odd, since it makes you feel lazy for not parking and walking up to an ATM… but you know what? It was pretty convenient, and I was on my way fast. I guess I can be wrong sometimes… well, this time. :-)
