Earl Farnsworth Express

These guys will turn any moving nightmare into a dream come true! I have called upon Cal and the boys at Farnsworth Express for two really big and difficult moving projects in Richmond. I was convinced that our new equipment could not be moved into our laboratory due to space constraints, so I called Farnsworth Express for advice. Each time, Cal himself drove out to make an assessment of the job and assured me that he and his team could pull it off without a hitch. He always gives me a fair quote which includes insurance (medical equipment is extremely delicate, expensive, and heavy!) and arranges for his team to complete the project within a few days of the assessment. The boys on the moving team are professional and courteous. They were quick to get both jobs done without any hassles or hiccups and even cleaned up and hauled our broken machinery for us afterwards. I would highly recommend Cal and his team of movers to take the stress out of any moving project!

Great group of guys. All of their movers were trustworthy, honest, normal people who did a great job packing up my ⁴⁄₃ home and getting it safely moved across state lines. They are local to Marin, which was a big selling point for me vs. other moving options.

Everyone at Earl Farnsworth moving were incredibly helpful while undergoing some office renovations at Bread & Roses. Kirk and the crew were patient, flexible and really went above and beyond to make the process a smooth one. They helped prepare the space for new paint, moved everything back so we could work the week before moving everything out of our office for new carpet and then back where it was again! It was quite an endeavor, but everything was so smooth and efficient! We couldn’t have asked for better hardworking hands!

We recently used Farnsworth for our move and storage. They did a fabulous job. Flawless packing, storage and delivery 10 months later. We would highly recommend them!

Just finished an office relo with this group. They were awesome! Strong recommend. No hassle, very professional and efficient, reasonable prices, and extremely helpful and flexible at both the pick up and drop off locations. If anything, they were more careful with our office contents than I would have been, myself. What else can you ask for?

I just wish I had more stars to give. Like other reviewers here I’ve heard some horror stories associated with various movers friends have used. My family has stored and moved stuff with Farnsworth here in San Rafael probably for my entire life now (30 years –_​_​-​) so I knew I didn’t have to worry about anything being stolen or missing, etc.
Having said all that, this past week was the first time I’d ever asked the crew to move stuff into a home of my own, and I could not have asked for a more professional yet down-​to-​earth, hardworking, friendly crew. We had a piano and a desk that were huge and heavy, and getting them into our San Francisco home was no small feat. However for these guys, it was all in a day’s work. Both the desk and piano are old family heirlooms — the piano used to be played by my great grandparents as far back as the 1920s — so I was a little worried that they’d catch a nick or scratch along the way (or worse, that they just wouldn’t be able to fit through the gate). Of course, they got it all done, no problem.
Long story short: can’t recommend them highly enough. You’d be insane to use any other moving/​storage company.

i have worked with Farnsworth Express many times when needing services in northern California. Usually work with Cal, the owner. they have polite people, clean people, always in uniform and very professional. Cal is so committed to quality service and it shows. Good group of people, highly recommend them to anyone who needs moving in Marin County.
Cal does specialize in moving things to Kauai Hawaii for BK, he knows him personally.

We used Earl Farnsworth Express for an «at-​home move» — storing all our furniture in the garage while installing hardwood floors. Out of three companies I get estimates from hey were the only one who did not want to charge us for blankets and gave us free gently used packing boxes. The job came in under estimate and he two guys on the job were great! I would definitely use them again.

We didn’t use Farnsworth to move, but we did get an estimate from them for a cross-​country move. This review is for that (really crappy) experience. When I called to set up an appointment for an estimate, the woman I spoke to on the phone made it seem like a big inconvenience to send an estimator to Oakland, even though their website says they serve Alameda County. Also, their office is literally 1 minute from the Richmond Bridge, making it just a 20-​minute drive. (And the estimator was going to be in San Francisco that morning already, which is an even farther drive from San Rafael).
I never got the promised email confirmation of the estimating appointment, but they did show up on time for the home visit. But then we never got an actual estimate. Other reps were able to give an estimate on the spot (isn’t that why they carry those snazzy ipads now?) or within a day at most. Finally, I emailed them to follow up. Turns out they misspelled my (easy to spell) name and email address (despite me spelling both for them multiple times on the phone), AND failed to write down my phone # when I called, so they sent the estimate off into the ether. Still waiting for them to send the actual estimate, although the person I’ve been emailing with (Ruth) sent a dollar amount — TWICE as much as our lowest estimate with exactly the same parameters, and $ 4K more than our mid-​range estimate!!!
Also, unlike every other moving company we met with, the Farnsworth rep (Ken?) failed to give us the legally required rights and responsibilities booklet, company info packet, etc. Throughout the process, I just got the feeling that they really didn’t want our business. There’s absolutely NO WAY we’d use this company for a move — if this is how they treat prospective clients, what will they do once they already have our business? And I’m pretty sure our stuff would end up somewhere in Kansas instead of Maine, based on the utter lack of organization and follow-​through I’ve seen from them!

My experience with this company is by far the best I have ever had with a mover. They are professional, fast and extremely pleasant to deal with. Raphael, the driver is a rock star. They moved my stuff across the country quickly, carefully and with a great attitude. I was in constant communication with both Ken at the office and Raphael, the driver. I can not recommend these guys enough! Do not hesitate to use them!

I’d heard horror stories about movers and storage companies. We needed a mover who could also store for us, then move us back in to our home after our remodel.
Ken came to our house and spent the time to give us an accurate estimate. In fact he gave us two estimates: one if we did a lot of packing prior, and the other if they were to pack everything.
At the end of two days of packing and loading, their team of three, my husband and I were like family. We cracked jokes, teased one another, told stories about our lives, and all the while these guys didn’t miss a beat.
They were professional, lightning fast, highly skilled — you could write a textbook study about industry best practices on this company.
I understand that they’re family-​owned, and non-​family staff have work there for years. Our lead mover’s wife even works in the office. One of the team was a surfer and triathlete who likes cold water swimming, like we do.
So if you demand excellent service, and want reliable and smart people helping you pack and move your home or office, this is the company to work with. They’re the tops. I wish all service firms were like them…

I did a 500 mile move with this company. The quote was mid-​priced for the four that I solicited. I did not have a set date for moving nor a address to move to until the last minute. They were able to accommodate me within 4 days of my actual request. After pick up, they had slightly overestimated my total weight which resulted in a $ 100 savings from the estimated price. Nothing was damaged in the move and everything went as planned. I got what I expected and I would use them again.
