Sometimes this store has great stuff and others it just sucks. You can always find a little something here. I wouldn’t go out of my way to shop here. I just go here if I am in the area. At times they have good deals.

This is a lovely Tuesday Morning, and I have been to MANY. It’s organized. The staff are always friendly. They have the things I’m looking for. What else could I want?

I remember going into Tuesday morning as a child and being blown-away by what felt like large stacks of uninteresting things in multiple rooms. But as an adult, making my triumphant return last week, the store felt like large stacks of very interesting things at good prices. Best purchase: awesome throw for my dad(warm, fuzzy, and stylish for his old fashioned la-z-boy). Worst purcase: silver nine west earrings for $ 6 that made my ears hurt(even after I cleaned them!)

I cant figure this place out. They have stuff like sheets, candles, kitchenware, toys, luggage, but Ive NEVER found anything of real use? Why do I keep looking? I work next door and need a break from time to time and its interesting to walk through. I keep hoping that someday I’ll find something usefull and at a good price. But, I’m afraid that this sense of optimism will just set me up for doom.

I have dubbed this place«sad Weekend» I have never found really anything to buy here but I always seem to stop there on the weekends when I am at Montecito. They have a large-ish selection of everything for the house(towels, pillows, rugs, strange outdoor statues) Lots of kids toys that are made in China and are«collectable» but probably will never be worth anything(think Franklin Mint). I have been in a few times and seen the shelves with stuff on it and the huge sheet in front of it declaring it is off limits until Tuesday and wonder if people actually are lining up to buy it. I bet not, the deals on the really good stuff like Le Cruset you would not want, if the item has a defect that makes the manufacturer not want to sell it then I would not want it. And I am a frugal person. I think the Tranny from Rite Aid moonlights here, I have seen her there.

I hadn’t even realized Tuesday Morning was here until I chatted w/Sharon J. about her review of Rumi, which was the North Bay ROTD a while ago. The space that Rumi occupies used to be an Afghan restaurant and I don’t think Tuesday Morning was there then. It’s right next door. After lunch Debra and I drove over here. I wanted to see what their planter inventory looked like, as I have a cymbidium that needs a planter. The stock of planters was sparse and nothing they had attracted me. There’s almost always *something* interesting in stock, though. Today they had a couple of small oval enameled cast-iron Le Creuset covered casseroles which I didn’t need. The store is larger than it looks at first, in the same way the Berkeley store is. I wouldn’t go out of my way to shop here, but if I’m in Marin anyway I’d stop by.

LAME! People don’t even use this word anymore but this best describes Tuesday Morning. Discounted, overstock, or end of season stuff, and plenty of it. Did I say discount? Not really. Don’t waste your time sifting through this crap. More variety and better brands are at Ross, Marshalls, or TJ Maxx.

Okay, I probably shouldn’t review this place. Not that the review is bad, but because more people will find out about it. And they may or may not end up shopping here. Therefore, I’ll have to compete with more mad shoppers. But, I think there are only a few who are patient enough to sift through everything at a Tuesday Morning. So, for those who are scratching their heads, Tuesday Morning is sort of a discount chain store. My understanding is that they buy up overstock, end of season, discontinued, etc., merchandise. Then, they sell it for less than retail. Remember Well, they bought up all the remainder of the sock puppets, shirts, etc., of their charming spokesdog. Then sold them at various Tuesday Morning stores. They mostly sell kitchenware, bedding, luggage, decorative items… stuff that Martha Stewart-types and grandmothers like. Not that I’m either one. I just like to browse, in the hopes of finding a good deal. It’s very much like a garage sale, in that although the aisles are orderly, you’ll never know what you’ll find. And you’ve probably seen some of their TV ads. They’re called Tuesday Morning for a reason. Because when they get new shipments or have special sales, the BIG sale day begins on a… Tuesday morning. This particular store is in a strip mall, hidden in a corner, away from the Trader Joe’s. It seems to be a tad smaller than other locations. Unless you’re after something specific, which you know is in stock, it’s pretty much a random shopping expedition. I have come away with good deals on travel clocks, cookbooks, nice Bodum glassware, high thread count Egyptian cotton sheet sets, and a box of yummy Brent & Sam’s cookies.
