Courtyard Dental is a Family Dental Practice that provides general, cosmetic, and periodontal commitment to patient service and excellence. Both Dr. Hickmott and Dr. Lauren Conway are committed to patient service and excellence, treating each patient as a special guest and returning patients as long time friends. Dr. Alec Temlock DDS. MS. provides complete periodontal and dental implant services for state of the art restorations and tissue treatment for ideal health. All of us desire to treat each patient as an important part of our lives, and because of this we treat you as family. We also offer a 24Hr emergency call center to handle those unexpected occurrences.

History

Established in 1987.

Dr. Hickmott started business in San Ramon in 1987 on Crow Canyon Rd. He initially started as an associate with Dr. John Eberle, then moved on to a partnership with two other dentists in 1992. Dr Hickmott then started his own practice in 1997 at the present location.

Dr. Hickmott was born in Dawson Creek B.C. Canada, moved to Redwood City, then moved to two locations on the East coast, South America, the gulf coast and mid west before returning to San Ramon. Having practiced here for 28 years, his caring attitude and philosophy of treating patients the way he would want to be treated, has established Courtyard Dental as an exceptional experience. He knows most patients by name and feels honored and trusted to watch families grow, and provide the same commitment to there new families.

Do not let Dr Hickmott or anybody else in that office touch your teeth. Dr Hickmott put in a crown and it has caused me nothing but pain over the years. He and his staff are incompetent and just want to make a quick buck. If I could give this place zero stars I would! One office visit with him was enough, no thanks!

The dentist is fine. It’s the office staff that is horrible. I have called 5, yes 5 times, about a billing error. It’s still not fixed. It’s been ten months. And on top of that, the staff is so rude about it. When we have determined beyond any reasonable doubt, it is completely their fault.
I have orchestrated two joint phone calls with BCBS and Courtyard Dental. The latest is Courtyard cashed the check and BCBS provided the check number and EOB, yet Courtyard has «no record of receiving it.» Plus, according to their preferred provider agreement they are not to bill two codes, which they billed both.
I’m at a loss. I’m so frustrated with it– especially with the lack of competence within Courtyard Dental.

Don’t dread the dentist anymore! The staff will thoroughly explain the procedure so you know exactly what to expect. They have the talent of gentle dentistry and made sure I was comfortable during the procedure. The professional staff impressed me and I will return for my future dentistry needs. Now Dr. Hickmott is giving people incentives to write positive reviews! Update on my situation: my daughter has to replace 2 fillings that Hickmott did just over a year ago and I have to redo a crown that is less than a couple of years old!

AVOID DR. HICKMOTT!,
I went to Dr. HICKMOTT for a check up, he sold me front crowns to fix a gap I had no interest in changing.
He did such a bad job that for the last 18 plus years I’ve been paying both physically and financially.
I’ve spent close to 35K to repair his mistake. I’ve had to have bone graft surgery, implants and crowns. After several crowns, gum surgeries and years of pain and no front teeth. It destroyed my self confidence, I had to be on a liquid diet and it goes on and on.
Stay away.
He knew he screwed up because he made me sign a release that I would not sue him. I was young and stupid and just wanted my front teeth back.

Dr Hickmont has been my dentist since I moved back to the Eastbay in 1998. Since that time, I actually enjoy going to the dentist. The staff is highly trained and friendly. They can always find a way to squeeze me in when I need to make changes due to my work schedule. I have recommended Dr Hickmont to my family, my daughter has gone to courtyard for almost ten years and friends who are looking for a dentist.

Friendly family dentist office Dr. Hickmont makes you actually want to go to the dentist. Everything is very clean and puts me at ease knowing everything is sterilized. I like the little extras like the gumball machine, the little waters in the lobby and even the fresh smelling soap in the bathroom if you’re looking for a family dentist this is it.

I have been in contact with my insurance company and they advise you to revise your eob as it was submitted as a cleaning and a cleaning was not performed. Unless you feel a flossing of teeth and a polish is a cleaning. I will not be coming back into the office as we have paid out of pocket for a proper cleaning for my daughters teeth.

Dr. Hickmott and his staff have continued to go above and beyond in the care they have provided to me and my family.
I am a dental coward and Dred coming in for my cleanings or anything else that may have been necessary over the years. Dr. Hickmott always greats me with a smile and is very reassuring that he will take care of my dental needs in the most professional and comfortable way possible. He is the only person who can make me laugh with a mouth full of dental tools and high power water spray…
I have also had some challenging dental issues. Dr. Hickmott’s excellent diagnostic skills have saved me from losing a permanent tooth and from having to undergo serious tooth and gum procedures. He has caught potentially serious conditions well in advance.
I have been seeing Dr. Hickmott for over 25 years and he has not removed me from being a patient yet…

I have had Mark and his staff attending to all of my family and my dental needs for for nearly 20 years. Very professional & friendly staff. Today was another great example of the attentive service from Mark’s Staff. Hygienist Kristin greeted me today asking how my daughter’s wedding was over 6 months ago. I had casually mentioned the wedding on my previous visit and she made my day by remembering this special time and asking about it.
I would highly recommend using Courtyard Dental if you want professional, courteous and friendly service.

I can’t recommend this office enough! I’ve been a patient for over 15 years and wouldn’t dream of going anywhere else, even though it involves a drive from Vallejo to San Ramon.

The employees are are really friendly and super professional. I plan to continue going here for many more years to come. Came in for my 6 month cleaning a couple of weeks ago with Kristen and she worked me over «in a good way»! She kept asking if I was ok (and I was). I had to come back in to see Dr. Temlock. I was pleasantly surprised that Dr. Temlock had a consultation opening the same afternoon as my morning cleaning. I came back in that afternoon and Dr. Temlock explained the entire procedure.
Dr. Temlock performed the procedure this past week. It was quick and not as painful as I thought it would be. Before and during the procedure, Dr. Temlock explained, checked in and before I knew it, I was out of his chair. We even had a little joke that I took a quick snooze while he was working :) It was that «painless»!

I can not say enough bad things about courtyard dental. My family has been seeing them for over 5 years and their work quality is horrible. We have had to numerous cavities redone as they use poor quality materials and have incorrectly aligned the spacing between the teeth. Each time, they have offered to redo them, but have only made the problems worse. If you show their dental work to any other dentist, they will confirm this and will tell you that they need to redo it. This place has a great atmosphere, but stay away if you are looking for an actual dentist!

I’ve been going to Dr. Hickmott for over 25 years! I recommend him, his associates (Dr. Temlock and Dr. Conway), the hygienists and his staff highly! They are friendly, professional, and caring.
I’ve needed urgent care occasionally and have always been seen either on the same day, or Dr. Hickmott or one of his associates has called me within the hour!

I have known and Trusted Mark over 20 Years. This has been Dental week for me and Dr. Conway and Mona just finished it off with some minor repairs. Courtyard’s Staff has maintained My teeth, my wife Jill’s teeth and my 11 year old daughter’s teeth, my daughter really enjoys the kid friendly environment. I highly recommend Mark and his Staff, you can sense they are all Happy to be there and really enjoy their careers to help you and your kids. The Music playing is awesome too.

I’ve been going to Dr. Hickmott at Courtyard dental for probably close to 20 years. In addition my kids went to Dr. Hickmott for all of those years raising them until they were adults. I also referred family and friends over the years who continue to go to Dr. Hickmott to this day. I have always received the highest standard of care and treatment over the years I have never once been disappointed in either their service or their staff. This Is A Great Office, the staff is impeccable, I just brought my 2 & 3 year old in for their first visit (ever) and they made fun and exciting, believe it or not got them to clean brush and polish their teeth. A MAZE ING. what I thought was going to be a nightmare was exactly the opposite. Dr. Hickmott is a great guy, and Mandy the office manager is so helpful. I would recommend this to anyone!

My Mom got some dental work done here recently while she was down in the Bay Area. She’s so computer phobic that computers create special problems whenever she’s near them but I’m happy to write the Unilocal review she would write if she did Unilocal.
She said parking was easy, the office was nice and light with comfortable chairs in the waiting room and that everyone she encountered there was friendly and cordial and knew what they were doing. (She added that she didn’t make a lot of use of the comfortable chairs because the wait times were very short.)
Her highest praise was reserved for the dentist himself: «He had magic hands, the lightest touch. You just didn’t feel him in your mouth. And I really appreciated that he’s smart enough not to ask questions when your mouth is wide open and you CAN’T ANSWER.»

It’s a shame I can’t give more than 5 stars because Dr. Hickmott and his staff are all worth a 10 star rating. First off I am always welcomed by sincere genuine people. Tiffany, one of the front office girls, is always a pleasure to see, she demonstrates what ideal customer service is supposed to be. Along with the rest of the staff who couldn’t be any more helpful and nice people. You can tell that the staff enjoy their work. Now Dr. Lolis THE BEST. I had to get a crown on my front tooth and I didn’t know what to expect. Dr Hickmott listened as I cried to him, told me not to worry and got to work. End product is priceless. It’s gorgeous and looks very natural. I literally cried when he showed me in the mirror. Dr Hickmott is so unbelievably nice and gentle I just wish I found him and his office years ago. I truly am grateful for Dr Hickmott and his wonderful staff.

Clearly, the dentist is not my favorite place. Too many bad experiences as a kid and the sound of the drill makes me cringe! However, my experience at Courtyard Dental was so different!
The friendly vibe starts at the door with Tiffany. She goes out of her way to make all their clients feel comfortable! She is absolutely attentive and super friendly! I felt like I’ve known her for years.
The rest of my experience was flawless, I rave about it to my friends because I finally have a dentist I like!

I am not one to like going to the dentist but the whole experience at Dr Hickmott’s could not be more pleasant.
Dr. Hickmott always shows me the x-​rays, and photos of my teeth and goes over what the plan is in a way I can totally understand. No surprises! The whole process couldn’t be more comfortable and painless. He always makes sure that I am very numb and able to relax.
The hygienists are all gentle and super professional and I love that the office is clean. I have been a patient of Dr Hickmott’s for years and now my whole extended family goes there too! The staff is so thoughtful and super friendly I will never go anywhere else as the whole office makes «going to the dentist» a great experience for my family.
