I’ve been getting my hair done from this little lady for years and recently moved to walnut creek. Its worth the drive to come to San Ramon see is very nice and always get a great hair cur

I have been going for years. I ask for Susan or Amy only, both are quite good. Place is kept clean and the cost are reasonable. Try them out, you will like the results. If there is a wait, head to Starbucks just across the parking lot.

Regrets!!! You know you just got a horrible haircut when your significant other tells you your new hair style makes you look like an old lady! Unfortunately, this is what happened to me. For the next few weeks, I’ll most likely have to put my hair in a ponytail bc I got the worst haircut ever! I hate to downgrade my review for Mimi’s Cuts, but it is necessary.
I think I will stick to Amy in the future if I ever return to Mimi’s Cuts. I once had my haircut by Kim and it was OK, but this time Kim did a horrible job! My hair was really long and I wanted to cut it a good 5 inches. I told her I wanted layers and how I wanted my bangs but the cut turned out to be a disaster. I wasn’t asking for anything special, so I’m not sure where the miscommunication was. Basically, I was in a big of a time crunch so after the initial cut and blow dry, I went home and put my hair up in a ponytail. I had a few appointments in the day, so there was no time to fuss with my new hairstyle nightmare. However, as the day went on, I kept thinking the cut was so bad looking. I made my mind up to go back in the afternoon and have it fixed.
When I went back to ask Kim to give my hair a better shape, she quickly helped me. She was insinuating that I didn’t specifically ask for the cut to frame my face. I’m just thinking, aren’t you supposed to know how to make a hairstyle fit that person’s face? She cut more hair, giving my look a bit of improvement, but that’s not say much. After Kim cut my hair for the second time that day, she told me I didn’t have to pay. Damn right, I’m not paying again! I had zero intention of that! My cut cost me $ 22. I know, I’m being frugal about getting my hair cut at these low end salons. Maybe it’s time I went to a fancier place where people know how to cut hair!
When my other half saw me later that evening, he told me the haircut was the worst he’s ever seen on me and I totally agree with him. There’s no sugar coating it. Lesson learned — do not get my hair cut by Kim at Mimi’s Cuts ever again!!! Btw, if you’re used to being in a Vietnamese nail shop, you know all the women are talking crap about you or the other patrons in Vietnamese. Be prepared for that here, since all the hairstylist are speaking to each other in Vietnamese too. I’m sure I gave them a lot to talk about.

I’ve had a couple of good experiences here in the past 3 months … I feel comfortable now going in for hair color.
(My first experience 6 months ago was awful, but they probably fired that guy)
Never had a hair cut here, so no comments.

Came in and had a wonderful experience. Amy was my helper. She did a great job kn the hair cut and evem offered to help me with my beard situation. Amazing help! Thanks and I will be back!

Took a chance on a new place, got two great cuts in a row. Every bit as good as places where I’ve paid three times as much. Good bet for men’s hair.

If you want a quick walk in place to get your hair done, this may be the place for you. Expect 30 minutes wait at least. If you ever want to do a bit more work with your hair other than simple cutting, look elsewhere.
There is NO WAY to make an appointment with the place. They will make your appointment and then TOTALLY TRASH it.
I was trying to do coloring with them. I walked in on a Sunday around 4pm, and was told that they did not have enough time to do it for me on that day, and asked me to make an appointment with them beforehand for matters like coloring. I think that’s a reasonable request, and I called them a week later on a Saturday morning and made an appointment with them on 11am the next day. They called me back about 10 minutes later to ask me to come over at 3pm that afternoon. I accepted that appointment. But when I walked in the store at 3pm, Susan told me she called me to cancel the appointment but I didn’t pick up the phone. I checked my phone, she called about 25 minutes before (the appointment), when I was driving heading here. I asked her how long do I need to wait for my turn (come on, I had an appointment, right?). She told me ABOUT ONE HOUR, or you can COME BACK TOMORROW.
YOU CANNOT SIMPLY CALL PEOPLE 25 MINUTES BEFORE THE APPOINTMENT TO TELL THEM YOU CANNOT KEEP IT, IF YOU SUGGESTED THE APPOINTMENT YOURSELF IN THE SAME MORNING!!!
YOU SHOULD NOT TRASH APPOINTMENTS. YOU SIMPLY NEED TO LET PEOPLE WALKED IN KNOW ABOUT THE APPOINTMENT.
IN CONCLUSION, this place will TRASH your appointment, waste your time like you are their on-​call 24 – 7 service support. This place needs some common sense and professionalism BADLY.

Still quite a deal for haircuts. Weekends are a bit busy but they usually have three people cutting hair. Try to come in on weekdays for the quickest service. Nice ladies here cutting hair and they seem like they can do any style.

BEWARE!!! LICE!!!
Took my daughter there a week ago because of convenience. Sat morning at 10 walked in and no wait. But we were «greeted» by a lady with no smile. She asked how I wanted her hair cut and I told her trim the bang and layer the back. 10 min later, bang trimmed and back trimmed as well. No layer what so ever. Fine I could have careless for style for little girl. The haircut itself was not bad just simple. When I was ready to pay, the lady couldn’t even tell me how much without talking to another lady exchanging a conversation in foreign language that sounded like a complaint. The whole time I received no eye contact and no common courtesy smile. I paid $ 20 including a tip that I regret. I gave her benefit of the doubt that she might have a bad day already (an hour after opening) but I refused to return to a place with no customer service. The worst came a little later afterwards. My daughter complained that her head itched and we found lice. Think about it, I don’t recall seeing them cleaning the comb/brushes…I cannot prove 100% if this haircut place was the source. But if u get sick after trying a new sushi restaurant, will you go back? I will leave it up to you.

This is probably one of the best hair cuts in the area with a fair price. They were extremely consistent. However their service is questionable. My brother was waiting for his haircut for about 30 minutes. When it was his turn, a random person came in and said he needs an «emergency quick hair cut». He did not have an appointment. But since he was a regular, he was rushed into the chair, skipping my brother and everyone else. I believe this is highly unprofessional. On the hair salons part, you should never have a «priority list to regulars». On the individuals part, you are not the center of this world and do not deserve any special treatments. Perhaps you should have some manners and wait in line like everyone else.

Clean and inviting space, very reasonable price, excellent haircut quality — from the guy’s perspective. Going there couple years now, on advise of my neighbor, seen all of them in action while waiting — Susan is by far the best, excellent feel of style, thorough execution, easygoing personality. IMHO others are good as well, but after few visits my wife told me to stick with Susan, well whatever makes them happy.
You can walk-​in on the weekdays, on the weekend I’d recommend to schedule, otherwise 30 – 40 min wait.

OMG I got my haircut here a few times and I introduced my mom to them as well. I made an appointment for my mom on a Thursday afternoon for the following day at 3 p.m. Turns out my mom couldn’t make the appointment & asked me to cancel. I was stuck on Bart that day because of Oakland A’s playoff game and I missed 4 trains before finally catching the Coliseum train to Oakland. It completely slipped my mind to call back right then and there. I was busy at work the following day and I get a call from them confirming the 3 p.m. appointment AT 3 PM! I explained the situation and apologized for forgetting to call back. She said she didn’t need my business. Had I not apologized and not owned up to the fact that I forgot (an honest mistake and she was rude) I would completely understand. But she said they’re running a business and count on appointments because they mark that slot taken. Excuse me, but «walk-​ins» are always welcome!
With that said, I will give them one more chance. Every1 (including businesses) deserve a second chance, especially when I continue to refer Family&Friends. Let’s just hope she doesn’t give me a bad haircut (crossing my fingers). Will keep you posted! Wish me luck…

So I walked-​in yesterday evening at 6 p.m. and Amy said she was available right then and there to cut my hair. Susan recognized me after a few minutes and acknowledged that she cut my hair a few times before. I love my haircut. I don’t understand why Amy spent 15 minutes straightening my hair when I didn’t ask for it to be straightened considering I already have straight hair, but I let her do her thing, only to discover that she charged me more than usual. At that point, I didn’t want to make it seem like I wasn’t going to pay for my haircut, so I did and I tipped her accordingly. I was completely satisfied with my haircut. The only thing that really bothers me about hair salons is when they start speaking in their language. I KNOW FOR SURE THEY’RE MAKING COMMENTS ABOUT THE CUSTOMER OTHERWISE WHY NOT SPEAK IN ENGLISH??? AND WHY PUT THE CUSTOMER THROUGH THAT AWKWARDNESS??? I DON’T FIND IT PROFESSIONAL, but it’s how they do things, how they run their business & simply put, we can’t tell them how to run their business.
Depending on how much longer I’ll be a San Ramon resident, I’ll be using Mimi’s Cuts as the place to go for my haircuts!

I saw lots of review about this parlor and thought of getting my eye brow done but apparently people here dont know how to do waxing. My eyelid is burnt and I got a scar on my eyes… when I spoke about this with them, all they can do is return my money back which is $ 10. All they compare my problem is with $ 10…this is the worst parlor I have been. very rude and they dont care about ur skin

We were in town and it was one of those days that we just needed a haircut. So we went in and Simone got the cut she wanted. As for me, was I satisfied? Well — I guess I am in the middle sitting on the fence on that one.
My hair cut was good. I have to say I am not upset or angry about it. The only problem I had with it was that before my hair cut, I explained to the woman that I had a cowlick on the left side in the front of my forehead. I guess that went out the other ear and I will explain why in a few later. Also I told her in the beginning of our haircut that I wanted long bangs.
When she cut the length of my hair, I thought to myself, «Great, she got the length right.» Then when she was ready to cut my bangs, she measured it exactly the length we agreed on. But then it ended up becoming short bangs. Dont know how that was translated in that communication effort. The reason I dont like short bangs, is because of my COWLICK. It seemed like she forgot about my cowlick and did not work around my hair/​head issue. Now my bangs separate in the area near my cowlick. People around me or know me say they cannot see the problem. But because it is my own head and hair, I see it self consciously. Im just insecure with that because its my head/​hair.
Well — I know hair can grow. Im not going to be a drama queen. Plus people say its a cute hair cut. People love it on me. HAIR GROWS back again.
SO far today, its been 4 days and I feel okay. Im happy now with my hair.
Gave the two hair stylists a tip. Yeah Simone got a good hair cut. I needed to commend that one.

I promise you that the fact that this establishment bears the same name as I do is not the ONLY factor that caused me to get my hair cut here. I consulted their other Unilocal reviews and even watched two or three people leave and checked out their hairstyles (they looked pretty cute) before deciding to try them out.
The two stylists working that morning were both very friendly. My stylist asked me what I what kind of a haircut I wanted and REALLY listened to what I had to say. I had been growing out my bangs, but changed my mind and was ready to hack them all off again to keep them out of my face. She talked with me about what style would look best on me and be easiest to maintain.
She did a great job on my hair and I have received compliments ever since, so I think that qualifies them for four stars. I noticed quite a few of their customers were men the morning I was there.

Yes, I am a fan of Mimi’s. My 9 year old daughter went in today for a haircut. First, I was able to get right in with Amy — same day appt. Second, my daughter had LONG hair, ½ way down her back and she wanted a short A-​line cut. Amy treated her just like a little adult, checking every cut from multiple angles. She was VERY precise. The only reason I did not give them 5 stars is because of the price. The charge was $ 25. Most of the reviews on Unilocal mentioned $ 15 — so I expected $ 15, but was caught off guard when it was $ 25. ALTHOUGH, it was worth every penny. Again, I was just expecting less, but I can understand that it was not a trim but a whole new style. So, my advice would be to call and check the pricing before you go. We will be back to see Amy — I’m so glad all you other « Unilocalers» rated this salon — you were right, it’s a gem.

I’ve been having Susan cut my hair for about 2 years now — she is great! Not just because she’s super affordable ($ 25 w/​tip!), but she is thorough, and always does the little things that make for a good cut (texturizes, checks sides for balance, shaves neck, and touches up after blow drying), no matter how busy she is! I probably shouldn’t be telling you about her, but, I have to give her props! I have never used anyone there but her, but all the stylists seem perfectly competent. The only downside is, she works on first-​come first serve most of the time, or you can call ahead (within same day), so come down, sign in, and wait your turn for a great haircut!

Susan rocks! I have been going here for over a year now, recently moved to San Leandro from Danville and still make it a point to come over to this side when my hair needs a little tame and trim. While walk in’s usually get helped right away I always make an appointment with Susan because she’s the best (sorry other girls). Super reasonable pricing, I pay about $ 15 for a haircut with shampoo and style.

Wow. What a terrible place to get a haircut.
I said give me a number 4 on the side, take a half inch off the top, and blend the rest. First time she didnt cut any off the top. I told her to take a little more off the top, she took 2 inches off the top. Now I’m sitting here with a buzz cut.
Thank god my hair grows back fast but there have been very few times i’ve been depressed after getting a haircut. Don’t come here. Also they dont turn the AC on when it’s 90 degrees outside, so I was sweating profusely while sitting in the barber’s chair.
Never again.

Wow! Totally not what I expected. (in a good way though)
I decided to drive around this cute plaza in San Ramon and find a moderately priced salon. My hair was getting buck wild! I saw a hip salon with super nice looking haired ladies. But too pretty would cost me more than a pretty penny. Soo, just a few stores down, I spot Mimi’s Cuts for an advertised $ 15 for a hair cut. So I tried it!
It was just about 5:30p, ½ hour they were going to close but the two ladies told me to wait and they would take care of me. The girl who cut my hair was Susan. SUPER NICE!!! I absolutely loved how she listened to everything I told her I wanted my hair to be and how she took her time.
At one point of the hair cutting process she was speaking to the other lady in another language and the other lady comes over and looks at my hair. I got worried and asked, «Is everything OK?» Susan told me that she was showing her how to correctly cut long layers. Whew! I thought they were talking smack. But no, Susan did such a good job and although they were closed, several people walked in asking if she could do a quick cut. She said yes but still gave me the attention. I love that. It’s nice when you’re in the chair and the stylist talks to you and actually pays attention to you.
If I didn’t live so damn far from this place, I’d definitely come back. Susan, you’re awesome! (and I absolutely love my do)
