Candlewood Suites Oc Airport- Irvine West

We enjoyed our 4 night stay here. The front desk staff was very kind and friendly. The room was very clean. There was no breakfast, however we utilized the room kitchen and ammenities. I would recommend this hotel.

I made a reservation for one night then decided to stay another, not because the hotel was great but because I knew I would be leaving early (4:30 a. m) and not coming back to the rountil 7-​or 8:00 p.m.The guy at the desk could not tell me if there were rooms available the next day or not! He kept saying you have to ask in the morning, I explained to him I either need to check out of the hotel at 4:30 and take my belongings with me or I need to know if rooms were available so I could leave my things in the room. I wasn’t getting anywhere with him. So I went online and booked a room myself (at a much higher price!) The next day I told him there WERE rooms available and I booked one at the higher rate, he said“sorry”, later when I saw him he said «I give you auto club discount» a whopping 5 dollars! The difference I paid was 40 dollars!
The hotel was just ok, this was my first (and probably my last) stay at any Candlewood suites. Many simple ameities I’m used to were not happening here. No breakfast, the front desk is closed up after 11p. m you would need to call someone if you needed help. Dogs were allowed in the hotel and I saw some very large dogs there (I think I read dogs under 80 lbs but the ones I saw were well over that and barking! I hate to think dogs stayed in the same room I slept in, I know dog lovers don’t mind sleeping with their dogs, but I do!
No automatic open doors so you have to struggle with your luggage or the luggage cart to open two doors just to get to the lobby! I saw no security when I came in late at night, the lobby was closed up. I didn’t feel very safe. As far as I saw, there is one way in and one way out.
If you’re looking for a cheaply built hotel with high prices, this is the place for you. I would not stay here again.
I’m updating my review and lowering the score because after several weeks I still have not heard from anyone from this hotel.
My family goes to Doheny Beach every year and I was on the committee to find a hotel for our out of town family. Candlewood suites will NOT be on the list! You blew it candlewood suites!

I came in just checking to see if there was a room available 4 hrs prior to check in time and not only did he allow me to check in but the my upgraded my room to a suite. I will highly recommend staying here. Not far for to do a little shopping and of course eating. As far as the rooms I loved the décor. I’ll be back next month

I’ve stayed at many hotels in my life, and this one is by the the best one I’ve ever stayed at. The lobby was clean and smelled great. The room itself was extremely spacious, comfy, clean and anything else amazing you can think of. By far the best part of this hotel was Raymond at the front desk. The dude was very kind, helpful, and always had a smile on his face. I have to admit, it is really difficult to find people who are that happy when at work. If I owned a hotel, I would pay a ton of money to take him away from the Candlewood suites and have him work at my hotel. Great experience and would happily come again.

Sometimes when I book a hotel room, all I am looking for is a place to store my belongings, get some shut eye, take a shower and maybe have a bite to eat. This is almost always the case when I travel to California, as there is so much to do away from your hotel room!
Candlewood Suites is a fantastic extended stay hotel that meets all of my needs when vacationing in California. This particular location is in a somewhat industrial area but it is close enough to freeways for it to not matter. Disneyland and multiple beaches are within a 20 minute drive away, and despite being located close to John Wayne Airport you are not bothered by the sound of airplanes at all.
You will not find certain amenities here… There is no pool, no continental breakfast either. There is a gym, open 24 hours. Free wifi is offered and there is ample space to work, making this a great hotel for business travelers. There is a full kitchen in every room, complete with pots and pans, perfect for anyone trying to minimize their vacation costs! There is even a laundry facility that you can use free of charge, you just have to supply the laundry detergent.
I had stayed at another Candlewood Suites property (Irvine East) prior to staying at this location, and found the bed and pillows to be far more comfortable here. The facility was clean, quiet and staffed by friendly and helpful employees. I would have no issues staying at this property again and would recommend it to others.

Okay, I actually REALLY enjoyed my stay here. I mean WAY more than I expected.
I’m pretty sure this is my top favorite hotel experience through IHG, and I’ve been around the block.
I made a one night reservation here because I had to stay at work extremely late/​had an early morning meeting. I chose this over the Crowne Plaza because theres free parking, and CP charges 10 dollars. I’m passionately against paying for little fees that don’t make sense.
Upon arriving at the hotel (my mood=overworked, stressed, irritated), I noticed the building and landscape was very well kept. There was plenty of parking, and I felt safe walking through the parking lot at night+ leaving my car out there.
Immediately upon entering the hotel, the gentleman at the front desk greets me with a huge smile! He was such a sweet guy!!! He notices I’m a platinum member and gives me a gift bag from IHG. ON TOP OF THAT, he generously offers to upgrade me from a standard room to a 1bedroom king suite. Wow this guy really knew how to treat a lady!!! :) sadly I couldn’t accept because I needed 2 beds, but he quickly found one for me. (My mood= Very pleased, happy)
I loved what I saw when I opened the door to my room (room 130) it was spacious, CLEAN, great amount of counter space+lighting, big flat screen tv, cute little kitchen area, huge closet&restroom, the bed was comfortable with what looked like brand new sheets! The kitchen area in the room comes with an electric stove, microwave (complimentary bag of popcorn inside) fridge&freezer, pots&pans, plates and utensils. basically everything you would need. *MOMS AND DADS*, if you’re traveling from a far distance to bring your kids to Disneyland or just visiting OC, this would be the PERFECT place. You’re able to cook, store snacks, and drinks (which will save you a ton of money versus dining out for every meal).
I hung out in my room until about 6pm, drove to work, got back to the hotel 5am, left back to work for the meeting at 800am. What was suppose to be a quick 20min meeting turned into 2.5 hours!!! I arrive back to the hotel at 11am. This time there was a young man working the front desk. (My mood= Grumpy& drained) I walk up to the front desk, he immediately greets me with a smile. I ask him if it were possible I could extend my check out time (12am) 1pm or 2pm. He gives me the most endearing smile and says «We can extend it to 2pm». My mood= VERY HAPPY!!!
I absolutely loved the customer service here, the atmosphere, and everything. I will be booking here again for any future soul sucking meetings. Thank you to all the hard working employees here, you guys absolutely made my day.

Surprisingly good location. Wonderful helpful staff, clean common areas, including a last minute store with handy laundromat that is complimentary (need to buy detergent, on site).
The room was acceptable, a bit tight. If the clumsy sofa chair would be replaced by a skinnier version, it would help. Remodeled bathroom.(NICE)
The bed was a bit high and soft.
When the price is low, it’s a good value place. Otherwise, for the same price you may stay in a place that cleans your room on a daily basis.
Overall — GREAT STAY…

Stayed here for 2 nights. It is a basic and clean place. Did not notice any noise from outside or planes flying overhead although the OC Airport is just south.
Only negative was that the bed sheets, both top and bottom had bloodstains. The sheets where clean, but the housekeeping should not have placed them on the bed in that condition. I requested fresh sheets and the office gave them to me promptly.

So… I hate giving poor reviews of the Holiday Inn chain because mostly I get very lucky staying at the various iterations of the famed Priority Club (Staybridge, Holiday inn Express etc). True to form — the service of most of the staff was very good. Big smile, warm welcome. Upgraded me to a one bedroom. Followed my request for a quiet room. By themselves they could have been four stars. But the cold water tap in the bathroom sink didn’t work. Only boiling water came out. I advised the evening front desk when I left for dinner who promised they would sort it out, and didn’t. I got in late night, too tired to put up a fight with them, and yes, brushed my teeth in boiling water. Then slept in the queen bed which was the shortest queen bed I’ve ever slept in… I’m 6 2″ and my feet hung off the end. In the morning, I brushed my teeth in the kitchen sink and hit my head on the low kitchen cabinets… thank you very much. So, the high reviews of the many other guests here-​in aside, let me tell you. It wasn’t good enough to justify the $ 100 odd bucks it was per night.

It’s cheap, so if all you want to do is sleep, good luck. Every 10 minutes a plane goes overhead! The bathroom floor had hair all over it (not mine). Got back from dinner and fire engines were in the parking lot and we were nit allowed to go in. It was like living in a college dorm all over again! NO THANKS, never again!

The place was really clean but the major downside to having a kitchen in the room is that other people have one too. The smell coming out of all the rooms was gross. It stayed out of our room so it was only an issue when we came home.

Reasonable… extremely clean… accomodating staff… great location. Great value.

My aunt and uncle are visiting and they’re staying here. Not bad for an extended stay type of place. The on-​site laundry is free and there is also a complimentary fitness room too. Each room has a full sized refrigerator, a 2 burner stove, dishwasher, microwave, DVD and VCR player… I thought that was pretty neat. Not a lot of these extended stay places have them.
This is definitely a place to recommend to family members who are staying longer than a week. The prices are reasonable, it’s clean, but it’s not a 5-​star that’s for sure. It’s like a comfortable place to rest your head and if you want to cook a meal you can do that instead of going out.
