Jeannie J’s Events

Yesterday, our extended family and friends held a 90^th birthday party for my Mother-​in-​law in the clubhouse of the Stevenson Ranch apartment complex where she resides. I live in Ventura, and wanted a full-​service event planner to handle all the details for us. Jeannie delivered a beautiful event in a most professional way that exceeded my expectations. She was very assuring along the way that I would not have to do anything other than enjoy the party, and she was so right!
The food was delicious. Jeannie prepares everything from scratch, and it tastes the way food does when a good cook makes it. My mother-​in-​law had some specific requests for the menu, and that was no problem for Jeannie. We had tender, delicious Chicken Piccata, flavorful vegetarian lasagne, two salads (homemade croutons!), bread, garden tea and lemonade. And a beautiful birthday cake that Jeannie made that was so very yummy! Not cloyingly sweet like so many cakes are nowadays. In short, the food was perfect.
The service at the event was so professional. We had buffet service, but before we ate, the attentive servers came around two or three times politely asking if we would like something to drink. There was plenty of staff to take good care of our event, and they did an excellent job. Jeannie uses these upscale yet disposable utensils that you can actually cut meat with — I’ve never seen them before, but they are attractive and very functional. And the plates were good size and very sturdy to hold the food without fear of collapse.
Jeannine’s staff also, as promised, swept the floor before the party started, and cleaned up thoroughly afterwards. She had to work with a tight schedule, too, because the room was only available for a limited amount of time before and after the party.
I can’t say enough good stuff about this company as you can tell! If you want a stress-​free party, delicious food and everything done for you (including, I forgot to mention, lovely table linens and flowers), Jeannie is your gal!

After reading the great reviews here, I thought I’d give Jeannie a shout to talk about my husband’s surprise 50^th bday party (food and alcohol for 100+ people — not a bad gig). I emailed through the company website with some quick details and included my contact info. A week went by and no response. I PM’d the same info via their FB page. A week went by and no response. Okay, so maybe they don’t check those leads… I called and left a VM with the same info.
A few days and no response later, I decided to call one more time. I left another message, this time saying that if I didn’t hear back this week I would have to move on. I got a call back that same day from Jeannie, which I missed (of course), so I called her back when I got the message. Apparently, they own a restaurant/​bar, so the number she called from was for this establishment. I left a message with the guy that answered the phone (Jeff?), explained who I was, that I was returning her call and very specifically said that I was hoping to set up a call with her for two days later, and would she please call me back and let me know if that day works for her and when. I even explained that since it’s a surprise party for my husband, I can’t very well talk about it when he’s around, nor can I spend a lot of time on the phone at work, so I wanted to set up a specific time to talk. I also hoped it would end the chasing I’d been doing over the past three weeks.
She didn’t call me back that night. So the next morning I left her a message on her own voicemail, letting her know I had left a message at their establishment and again requested to chat on a certain day and when, and to please get back to me on whether or not that would work for her.
Today is the day I had asked to speak with her, and no, I never got a response. A simple, «Hey, got your messages, I’m just too busy with my bar to take anything else on right now» would have been appreciated, not to mention good customer service. (Clearly I tried too hard to give her my money — I can only blame myself for that. Should have given up after the first two attempts.)
Maybe she does great work if she wants the job and follows through, but I’ll never again be interested in finding out.

They do it right and for a very very fair price. A class act and wonderful food accompanied by outstanding service. They are the real deal !

When our dear friend died suddenly, not only were we in shock but we had to some how put together a memorial service at our home and we only had 4 days to do it. As luck would have it, I found Jeannie on Unilocal.She came to our house immediately and said we had nothing to worry about because she would take care of everything. I can’t describe how amazing she and her staff were. After the funeral, my husband, I and over 100 guests showed up to find our home and backyard transformed into the most beautiful tribute to our beloved family friend. She listened to everything that we told her about our friend and even had phone conversations with his widow in New York to make sure that she didn’t miss any details. The food was incredible and I don’t know how she did it, but we never ran out of anything. She and her staff were very polite and so professional. I can’t believe that we got all of this service and the final price was so incredibly reasonable. I will absolutely use Jeannie J in the future (of course hopefully it will be a much happier occasion.) We can’t recommend her enough! I wish I could give a higher rating!

WHERE IS THE 10 STAR BUTTON?! This review is incredibly long overdue as my 25^th birthday party was in December and my guests are STILL raving about the food! Jeannie took all of the stress off of me and handled every detail down to the upscale serving plates and utensils that I requested. She nailed the small bites/​bistro/​Upscale spa food vibe that I was going for. It was more than food– she understood my vision of the party and the look that I was going for and the food reflected the passion that she has for her craft. Her staff is a joy to be around. They are fun (and gorgeous) and they take their job very seriously. There was never a guest without food. There was never a dish left on the table. It was an incredibly smooth operation — I was blown away. LOBSTER MAC AND CHEESE. LOBSTER MAC AND CHEESE. Did I mention Lobster Mac and Cheese? Do it. I LOVE YOU JEANNIE!

Jeannie was such a lifesaver last month when I needed her. We hired Jeannie to cater a luncheon for my mother in law’s memorial service. As you can imagine it was not an easy time for our family and it was very last minute planning. Jeannie made everything at the lunch so easy for us. The planning was done mostly via email which was ideal for me. Jeannie and her team showed up early and took care of everything while we were at the service. When guests started arriving they were able to relax and enjoy celebrating the life of my mother in law. Jeannie also recreated some of our most treasured family recipes. It was such a special touch. Thank you for the fabulous food and service!

I had a last minute fundraiser and was in a panic about all the details. Jeannie was recommended by my sister and I have to say, it was a great decision. Not only was the food perfect for the event, but Jeannie came in early to help set up and stayed late to make sure everything was put away.
You can tell that Jeannie loves what she does and she puts a lot of heart and soul into her food. Thank you Jeannie J for taking a lot of stress off of me!

I can’t thank Jeannie enough for such an amazing spread for my daughters 25^th bday Party. From the idea stage, to execution we knew we were in good hands, and left it all up to her. Passed appitizers all nite from the start of the party on… amazing food… Lobster mac n cheese was my favorite! Her staff was professional and a joy to work with! I would recommend her to anyone who wants to depart from the same olé same olé! Love you Jeannie!

As a wedding entertainer myself it is very important to have a good relationship with other vendors to ensure a smooth event for our clients. I have worked with Jeannie and her staff several times and have found her professionalism and enthusiasm very uplifting and has made it very easy for me to work with. Not only is her food amazing, She also creates a fun atmosphere at the bar, which adds to the entertainment of the event.
