Toppers Pizza Place – Canyon Country

Pizza is awesome, beer is awesome, staff is awesome… its awesome.

Friday night dinner with the family turned out great. We ordered a large pizza, salad bar, cookie desert with ice cream and beer. Pizza was delicious for my picky eaters to eat 3 slices each that was great news! The salad bar was ok some veggies not so fresh. They have signs that state you can only get 1 x serving. That was a bit of a turn off. The beer we had «stella» was not good tasted warm and flat. I think the best part of our dinner was the desert this homemade cookie with ice cream. As a Pizookie lover myself this was just as amazing. if I didnt burn my finger ouch! Overall I think I would choose this place over a $ 5.00 carry out pizza.

I took my family out to Toppers as it’s new in Canyon Country, and my boss told me that he thought it was really good pizza. My boss is a foodie type, and from my experience I’ve found that he tends to have a very good palate, and really likes quality food made with quality ingredients.
We got a medium pepperoni mushroom, a medium chicken & roasted garlic, and a side of jalapeño poppers. They gave us a locator and asked us to find a seat (the locator would tell them where we were in the restaurant. That was kind of techy, so I thought it was a cool idea.
The food came out quickly and it looked very appetizing. However, if I’m being honest, I didn’t really care for the quality of the food. It was a bit bland, but not horribly, and it was a bit greasy as well. It’s not that it was bad, it just wasn’t great.
The service was good and the ambiance was great, but I was expecting exceptional food and found myself comparing their pizza to a Little Caesars, Papa John’s, etc.
So with the build up I had going into Toppers, it just didn’t stand up to my expectations.

I’ll start with the pros. Their pizza crust is amazing. Best I can remember having in LA. Several of their specialty pizzas are delicious. The garlic sauce in particular is really good. The interior of the place is rustic chic, very high ceilings and they kept a lot of the original details of the bank that used to be here (including the old bank vault door, which is super cool). Interesting light fixtures and all of the framed art is local places from many years past. They have about 8 million beverage choices because they have two of those fancy multiple choice dispensers.
The cons: the service is hit or miss. I’ve had some really good cashiers, but friends have said they’ve been downright rude. Most of the table service is mediocre, but only because you’re pretty much on your own once the pizza gets there. The prices are exorbitant. Tonight we ordered three small salad bars, three beverages and one medium and one small pizza. It came to nearly $ 60. That seems WAY too pricy for a restaurant where no one refills your drinks or asks you if you need anything else.
I’m creating a special category for the salad bar. The pros: it’s amazing. Great quality, very fresh ingredients. Always full. And the Chipotle Ranch dressing is literally the best thing I’ve ever tasted. The cons: again, ridiculously expensive. To eat in, the small is $ 4.45 and the large is $ 6.00. And it’s one trip. One. They are not messing around either. I’ve seen someone leave with a salad, realize on the way back to the table that they forgot something, and get hassled by an employee when they tried to add something to a clearly uneaten salad. There’s nothing on the salad bar that would break the bank if they made it unlimited trips. Or if they want to be nazis about the one trip rule, the price shouldn’t be more than $ 2 – 3. No one is coming here for the salad alone, so make it a loss leader and lower the price. They lose a star and a half for the salad bar issues alone.
Overall, it’s a nice treat (save up!) occasionally, but they could do with customer service improvements and they need to fix the salad bar issue.

Love this place… use to go the one in Oxnard a lot I am glad they open a couple in the SCV!!! Chorizo and pepperoni and the fresh jalapeño and pepperoni are bomb!

What a nice place to have lunch or dinner, if you are a pizza lover of course. They have four sizes, beginning with a personal lunch size pizza ($ 4.45) up to extra large. They also have a variety of toppings including chorizo and meatball sausage to name a couple. You don’t have to ask for extra cheese, it already comes with loads of toppings! You order and have a seat in the very clean and very modern restaurant that has a load of large screen televisions and they will bring it piping hot to your table. The crust was thin and cooked perfectly. Taste spot on! The jalapeño poppers were not fried or spicy but I thought they were delicious. They had loads of bacon and cream cheese spread and the jalapeños were fresh. The servers were also really nice. The bathrooms were immaculate. I would definitely come here again just wish there was a closer location. They serve beer but we partook of the soda machine, I had light lemonade but there was a large variety to choose from and it was unlimited servings. My only complaint would the little bowl they give you for the salad bar, it’s smaller than a saucer plate and for $ 4.45 you can only visit it once whether you dine in or order out and once you grab a little lettuce you don’t have enough room for anything else — not more than a tablespoon anyway and you need a salad with all that bread, come on. The price was right as well for all that we ordered so this place is worth the visit.

When I saw the high ratings I was really expecting to have a wonderful new food experience. I was extremely disappointed. I am only writing a review in hopes of preventing someone else from wasting their hard earned money. I ordered the creamy garlic chicken pizza. It should have been named the red onion pizza. The crust was burned in some areas and hardly cooked in others. I also ordered salads which was pretty much just a big bowl of iceberg lettuce with severely watered down tasteless ranch dressing. This was a delivery order and on a positive note the delivery was quick and the delivery driver was very friendly and professional.

Great place! Great pizza and the service has been great dining or delivery! I’m glad they opened this new location near our house!

How can you not Loove Toppers! The salad bar is fresh and the pizza is always good! I’ve had it delivered and it arrives hot fresh and delicious! Customer service always good! So glad they’re in Canyon Country!

We’ve been enjoying the Valencia location since the day it opened (literally, we were there on opening day) so I was excited about a closer location. Topper’s did an excellent job with the reno, I love how they preserved all the history of the back.
The pizza is solid, a good value and the salad bar is really tasty too. The lunch specials are a great value. The only thing this location is missing is outdoor seating. Thats the nice part of the other location, we can bring our dog and he can enjoy spending time with us.

Rustic warehouse feel. Old school pizza joint. Veey clean. It is very fast casual have it your way. Toppings include roasted whole garlic cloves, roasted tomatoes, chicken and zucchini. Vegie pizza was awesome. 2 of us ate for $ 18.
But wait there’s more… salad bar is WOW! Can’t wait to go back!

4 stars due to their ridiculous policy of not giving credit when credit is due…
We have been in there and had delivery, never a problem and pizza is always great. Service is ok, but let’s be honest it’s mostly teenagers working here so it’s expected.
Here is the issue, last delivery we got two pizzas for the kids, 1 cheese, 1 pepperoni. Both had very little sauce, unusual but it happens. We called to have the cheese replaced since the pepperoni was better tasting.
First of all, they don’t give you credit for a full pizza, they give you a $ 3 or $ 5 gift card in the mail (Mgr did not know which, weird policy), lame! Second, they’re willing to deliver you another pizza, great but lame (wasting more food and resources). We would have just preferred the credit for another time. Lastly when they came back they apparently talked my kids into giving up the pepperoni pizza and only replaced the cheese, lame!!!
So, we had to call back speak to the mgr again, they brought out a fresh pepperoni with the right amount of sauce.
Three deliveries for two pizzas. Not sure if the corporate owners are reading these reviews, but if they are… you might want to reconsider you’re policies!
Btw, their spicy Hawaiian, the chicken bbq, and creamy chicken are some of our favs!
I like adding fresh jalapeños to the chicken bbq.
We are still fans of Toppers and glad you had enough pizza balls to open one up in canyon country!

What cold and my kid found 2 hairs on her pizza slice, that was embedded in the cheese, threw that one out. Good spot to have a drink and some pizza.

Holy cow, this is great pizza. Strong recommendation: get the creamy garlic sauce rather than the standard tomato sauce. It’s killer.
The only bummer is the large is a single serving size for my 18 year old son. Their idea of 12 slices is not my idea of such. The four of us really need a large and a medium at least.
They also have the new Coke machines which give you nine thousand choices.

This place is delicious. I already reviewed the Valencia location and this one is no different.
I didn’t go into the restaurant though, I actually had it delivered this time around.
The delivery was insanely fast. The operator told me it’d take about half an hour and I was eating 20 minutes later. It was fresh, it was hot and it was fast!!! All 3 things you don’t usually expect out of delivery lol.
I got the meat pizza and carnitas pizza. The meat pizza is fantastic. You can’t mess this up. The carnitas was interesting though! I liked it but the meat was not what I expected!
The crust is my favorite part though. I don’t EVER eat the crust of any pizza. This is the only one I’ll eat from beginning to end.

The lunch special is a good deal! For about $ 5 you get a small pizza and salad. The salad bar has a variety of fresh veggies and the pizza was delcious! It was about 6 small slices.
Service is great! Come here after paintballing. They serve beer and have tvs with sports games playing too.

I watched for months as this place was transformed. The bank that had laid empty and dormant for years was renovated, torn open, and rebuilt into a hip new and exciting pizza joint. Each day on my stop at 7 – 11 for coffee or hot dogs, I would note as more and more progress was completed. One day, I stopped in for coffee, and saw a large canvas sign flapping in the breeze, «Now OPEN!» I knew a trip would be in order. One Monday night, after gaming, me and a buddy walked across the street to enter the place.
We entered and marveled at the place. I enjoyed that they kept aspects from the bank. The vault and deposit boxes were now pizza themed. There were security boxes with keys still in them. Perhaps they still secured some unknown antiquities. I’ve been to the place over in Valencia, and I know the deal. Order and pay for a sandwich or pizza at the counter, get a number thingy, and go sit at a table.
Knowing the place is a pizza joint, and in their defense, pizza isn’t the cheapest of dinners (depending upon where you go too) I opted for a small one topping pizza. I went with a garlic clove topping, plus a basket of two breadsticks, and a small cup for water, my total was just over ten dollars. I then went towards the crowded dining room to hunt down an empty table.
My eyes spotted several empty tables, yet getting to them was actually fairly challenging. They’ve got TV’s set up all over the place. I kept being drawn into football games, hockey games, and whatever other games happened to be playing at the moment. The place is loud. There is a cacophony of televisions and people chatting while eating. It’s a pretty loud place. Eventually I sat down at an empty table, flicked some leftover pizza debris off of the table, and placed my number doohickey there to claim it while I went over to get some ice and water from the super hi-​tech and future soda machine. (Not an easy task mind you.)
Eventually, my friends mushroom pizza was placed before him. I inquired as to when my garlic pizza was to arrive. Confusedly, waitress went over to ask manager. Waitress came back and told me that THIS was the garlic pizza, and the mushroom pizza would be out soon. I looked. This did appear to be a mushroom pizza. Oop. Wait. That’s a garlic clove. Yup. This is a garlic pizza. I had no icea that cooked garlic cloves look surprisingly like Mushrooms. I picked one off and ate it. Yup. Garlic. Tasty.
My buddy’s pizza arrived a bit after mine did, and we dined. The pizzas are quite tasty. Superior quality foods do tend to cost a bit more. The pizza was great, the breadsticks were meh-​decent. However the atmosphere here is great. I liked that they kept the old bank stuff.
So, while it’s a bit on the expensive side, it is quite delicious. The employees are still getting used to the menu items, and cooked garlic cloves look a hell of a lot like cooked mushrooms. The bank stuff got them an extra star.

Finally a Toppers right by our place! Great food, great service & quick delivery.

Went in Thursday and loved it! The bank concept is awesome. They have over 20 beers on tap, and the pizza is awesome! I recommend the BBQ chicken pizza.
We really enjoyed the patio setting.

Went today and LOVED it! The place has only been open two days, yet each and every employee acted as if they have been working there for years. Very professional, happy and accommodating.
I ordered the Quick Lunch… individual pizza and salad bar. The pizza was amazing and the salad bar was great! The Stone IPA was awesome, too.
I love how they kept the bank theme with the safe door and the deposit boxes when you enter. Just like they have the Bob’s Big Boy inside the Valencia restaurant, they kept the ambience of this building, also.
Toppers is TOP NOTCH in everything they do. I am so happy I have one close to home now.
