So cool. Hip little outdoor seating, nice bar, great options. A beer for anyone and everyone. Right in the downtown strip area. Great spot to chill and enjoy the weather and people watch.

The beer selection is amazing and their nightly specials/promo events are fun. Won twice on a Tuesday night raffle. The gluten-free beer selection is expanding and has a great variety of the better ones that I’ve found. The food options for gluten-free friendly are limited but not impossible. I’m a big fan of the potato skin appetizer.

This place was awesome! I came here with family after my sisters graduation for a quick bite to eat. Our waiter was so friendly and attentive to our group(we made sure to let management know how wonderful he was). The food was great and we absolutely loved the beer selection! Thanks for a great lunch!

Decent place to watch a game. They have a great beer list(duh) and the food is OK. I got linguini and the pasta WAS fresh, as advertised. There’s nothing special about the menu and I’d probably just come back for a beer or two(or three). Good atmosphere though and fun people-watching opportunities.

Food and people here were great! I even ate off the plate of my friend. The people are super welcoming. I won’t mind going back for dinner the next night.

Great draft selection and the bottles take this place way over the 99 mark. The suggestions from the server were on the nose. Definitely plan on making this a regular stop when I’m on the area.

Great pub fare and atmosphere! The star of the show is the beer selection, especially what they have on tap. It does shock me when people get mad about the place not serving liquor: it’s called 99 Bottles for a reason.

We always pop into 99 Bottles at least once when we visit Santa Cruz, annually. Being from the San Diego area, we’re always looking for great craft beer bars to belly up to. Even though we’re out of towners we always receive a warm welcome and have always enjoyed the vast selection of brews and great pub-style food. There’s a parking structure right next door if you want to leave your car and explore the downtown area. We’ll be back for more of our favorite: hoppy IPA’s and sour beers on draft!

this was my hangout for years but due to new diet have cut back on beer and fried foods. Avocado and chicken BLT is great sandwich. A friend of mine Niki from Montana she was a great manager. Great beer selection the Belgian fruit beers are pricey but tap beers are fair priced at happy hour. Last meal I had was fish and chips a little greasy. Gets loud on trivia night.

The beer selection is broad in styles and options but not the offering is not very unique. I would definitely comeback.

This place has ridiculous amount of beers. They really do have 99 different kind of beers here. My boyfriend and I came across this place while visiting Santa Cruz for a nice mini day vacay. They have a good amount of seatings indoor and and outdoor. Most of the people that come here are older people but you will see younger crowds every now and then. They do have an upper level but we’ve never been up there. Monday Madness! 10% off all food, all day Tuesday Pint Night 7:30−10pm Free raffle for beer gear Wednesday Night is Trivia Night Thirsty Thursday 3, 2, 1 Happy hour All day Night Live Music Thursday Nights @ 10pm Come check this place out if you are from out of town and looking for a good place with different variety of beers to try.

Hands down best burger fries and beer combo I have ever had! I came here with my boyfriend for dinner this past Saturday. He had a Chipotle burger and I had the garlic blue cheese burger with sweet potato fries. YUM!!! I can’t wait to come back. Our server was awesome too, I don’t recall his name but he was tall with dark hair and glasses. Although they were out of the new Go West IPA we had plenty of beer on tap to pick from.

Holy moly this place is damn good! They took 40 minutes to bring the food but I have to say I was impressed. The onion rings were delicious and the hamburger and spinach salad was oh so yummy

Really great spot to come and enjoy some beers, and food! TV is accessible as well for sports. Brought the boyfriend in to enjoy watching the SB50 for our Early Valentine’s date, I was somewhat concerned it may be packed, but to my surprised we arrived on time, customer service was great! I forgot to ask for wheat bread, and as I did, they were super nice abt it. Very attentive staff. They also have HH during the week M-F, definitely trying to come back to enjoy live music on a Thursday and happy hour specials as it’s all day/night. Area surrounding this place as we are not SC locals is nice, there are other places as well to stop by or enjoy.

Terrible! We ordered appetizers, and it took 30 minutes to get our food. The salads were drenched with dressing and the chicken strips we’re so burnt that you could not even eat them!

I love this place. From the amazing selection of beer to the food(which goes way above normal«bar food»). I’ve had many drinks here before, but this time I got the mushroom cheeseburger with a veggie patty and a side of sweet potato fries. It was quite delicious — the mushrooms were soft and tasted great with the jack cheese. Normal toppings like tomatoes, lettuce, and mayo came with the burger. The veggie patty was good too(didn’t expect that of a beer and burger heavy place). It had a good texture because it had either rice or barley in it. Sweet potato fries are always good, and my friend’s waffle fries were also on point and crispy!

As far as beer goes, there aren’t many places that can beat this place. They really do have 99 beers, although that list is constantly changing. They’ll give you a punchcard if you wanna try to drink all 99 and get your name up on the wall. One of my favorite things about 99 is that it gives me a chance to try a lot of local Santa Cruz area beers on tap – and that’s good, because Santa Cruz is quickly becoming California’s Willamette Valley. The place has kind of a Pub atmosphere.(Pub in the British sense meaning that even though it’s mostly a drinking place, there’s food and it’s family-friendly) 99 Bottles is conveniently located in Downtown Santa Cruz near lots of other bars and restaurants. My best use case for it is a pre-dinner beer or two, or happy hour drinks. That brings me to the food: It’s only okay. I’m not some kind of snob that won’t eat bar food, but there’s better bar food out there. So unless you’re in need of emergency, life-saving, greasy drunk food, just go to this place for drinks.

hi-ya! The name really seems to sell the idea to come to this eatery/watering hole. We came while visiting the area and were recommended by friends to hit this place up. It’s ‘meh’, we actually tried several beers(even a sour one) and were not really impressed. We tried things we typically don’t drink and found that the waiter’s recommendations were… lacking. Service was ok; a little slow and the food was reasonable, but nothing to write home about.(Ordered steaks, fish & chips and a butter pasta?) All was ok, but the ending price tag wasn’t necessarily worth what we got. Granted we ordered a lot of alcohol – and YOU would think after getting into a stupor you would be like, «yeah, that place was great»…but no. Anyway I’m not trying to hate, but I am. Anyway 3 stars because it didn’t wow me, but didn’t make me hate it.

I wish that I could give 2.5 stars. This was seriously disappointing for me but I bumped up from 2 to 3 stars because everyone else in my group enjoyed their burgers. At first I was really happy with the big menu and was happy that everyone else found cool beers while I enjoyed iced tea. Service was questionable– it took foreverrrrrr to order food, my group was on their second round of beers before we were able to order dinner! Granted it was a busy Saturday night but still! Not cool. When the food did come I was so disappointed. I had their taco salad and it was pathetic to say the least. The chicken was cool, I’m assuming that it was done before the 3 burgers and sat for a while. Since I was hungry and didn’t want to complain I ate the chicken and the surrounding tortilla chips but other than that the salad was really wet and soupy from the guac, salsa, beans and lettuce. All of those ingredients alone are great but not when each are wet.

I’ve been to Santa Cruz several times since moving to the bay area, but only just recently checked out 99 Bottles of Beer. This is a shame, as to my delight, they very much live up to their name. 99 Bottles of Beer has very much an English style pub feel, which started winning me over as soon as I walked in. And as you guessed it, they have a menu with page upon page of beers. The menu is divided up by type, so it’s easy to find your IPAs, Belgiums, etc. They also have food, including waffle fries that taste better and better with each beer. Next time I’m in the area, I’ll definitely be returning.

We read the reviews on Unilocal and since me and my bf like trying new things we decided to come by with our group of friends. It was a bit on the calm sidecwhich was cool for eating and hanging out We ordered a beer and cider to drink. The beer paulener my bf liked and was good. The cider santa cruz scrumpy was just a bit on the strange side but it was good pretty strong too 6.9%. We also got the 99 combo which included fried pickles, jalapeño poppers which were delicious, and fried artichoke which were very good too. We also got the calamari which we also enjoyed. Overall the food was great and so were the drinks. Will be coming back

The last stop on a day trip I took down Highway 1. Lots and lots of beers to consider in their beer booklet. The waitress had some helpful recommendations, one of which I ordered: Uncle Dave’s Rye IPA. The rest of my group got some solid beers as well. We didn’t get anything to eat here, but their food seems decent. We had been drinking, eating and traveling most of the day so I was sooo tired. Sorry for falling asleep at the table! :P Also, their bathrooms have chalkboards for walls! So cool that I had to write something myself. Wish I lived closer so I could do the 99 Bottles Card challenge. I’m rarely in Santa Cruz so this spot was a treat.

Located in the downtown area of Santa Cruz. This little pub restaurant serves local, craft, microbrews. Restaurant has different activities and beer vendors floating through all the time. I have stopped in various times throughout the years. Food fair is like any other pub grill. Nothing spectacular and nothing horrible. Beer selection and program is unique with the changing landscape of beers. There is likely something that serves most fancy. Service is okay for most part. Wait staff can be on it and can also be suspect. Various days of the week there are various activities and vendors that float through. Something to interest most people. Nothing great or horrible just okay. I typically stop in when I visit the town. Worth a stop for most diners and beer drinkers.
