NOT happy.
Seems like every time I bring in a chain saw, generator, weed wacker or whatever is giving me problems the answer is «there was water in your gas». Brought in a portable generator. Took them about a month to get around to fixing it. The problem was (of course) water in my gas. Now the thing only runs on half choke and will not take a load. I think they have water on the brain. Really sorry that Dave’s over in Soquel closed. Have to find a new small engine shop.

This is a very well-​run shop – quite professional and well-​managed. For example, they keep good records of my tools/​equipment and of what servicing they have performed on them and when.
What I especially like about B & B is that they take the «long view». Rather than try to make a quick buck, they want loyal, long-​term satisfied customers. On numerous occasions they gave me advice over the phone about how I might fix an errant piece of equipment without having to bring it in to them. And, on occasion they have made an adjustment on the spot, on something I brought in for repair, and not charged me.
These guys are a competent resource for, and an asset to, our community. I hope they stick around.

I needed some machine work done on some pipes for a home project and while this wasn’t their go-​to work, they worked carefully, taking their to time to do it perfectly. The amount they asked for doing the work was basically the cost of a good latte and I was happy to tip well. Great people!

B&B includes a retail store for small engine equipment as well as a repair and maintenance shop. I have had unsatisfactory experiences with both. I brought in a high-​end Honda lawn mower for repair of an engine problem. I originally bought the mower new for about $ 1000 from B&B. I was told the parts would be ordered and the mower repaired within about one week to a week and a half. The repair took one month. Since I needed the mower for my landscape maintenance business, I found the delay frustrating and told them so. One of the arrogant owners told me after 3 ½ weeks that I should have just bought a new engine as that would have been faster. Apparently he forgot that he was the one who originally recommended that I repair rather than replace the engine!
I now drive out of my way to shop elsewhere for equipment, parts, and repairs.

I have an old generator that’s probably overdue for the scrap heap, but when it doesn’t work I take it to B & B and they resurrect it. Prices seem fair for what they do. Remember, you’re buying a lot of expertise when you go to B &B. They also gave me tips about storing the generator when not in use, so I won’t have to bring it back every year. I’ve taken this generator to other service people and not received the quality of results I do with B & B. If you have anything with a small motor that doesn’t work, take it here. But, be forewarned that they can get real busy and might not be able to get to your stuff right away. That’s probably because they do such good work.

ive been a customer with bill and gang for many years. ive bought everything that makes noise on gas from them. they have been reasonable and helpful all along the way. they are in it for the life of the tools and beyond. i appreciate that.

I’ve gone to this place over the last few years and never had a problem. They didn’t make fun of me when I thought I cracked the case on my Stihl chainsaw, (it’s a notch on the side that lets the gas cap clip on.) When I lent the saw out to a friend, and she ran out of gas, they were willing to fill it with gas and oil so she didn’t have to deal with that. (or risk damaging the saw).
