meh. .. The coffee was fine. It wasn’t bad; it wasn’t particularly memorable either. If you need coffee and it’s close, go for it. I wouldn’t go out of my way.

Mom and Pop coffee shops are a plus in my book. Yes, I love my good’ol pike roast from Starbucks but«The coffee house» made my experience worth a good review. Right when I walked in the door the man at the counter greeted me with a smile and was very helpful when I was ordering. He did ask if I wanted to wait because he was finishing up brewing a fresh pot of the Guatemalan coffee roast, but I was perfectly okay with their 5 other choices they had available. The coffee was great and reasonable prices. The shop was full, but the man working did say there was plenty of seating out back. As I walked into their back deck on this warm sunny morning it was very quiet, and was perfect to do my studying. This will defiently be a place I will visit again.

Very appealing old-school café. Indoor and outdoor seating in a really sweet garden off the road. Only open from 6AM till 2PM but well worth the limited hours. The owner/operator is a Santa Cruz local and very friendly and knowledgeable.

Hunter-talk sickening. The owner and regular-customer friends at this tiny, cute little place talked and laughed about how when they get out with their guns, some will — ha, ha – shoot at anything. One was laughing about how his friend would shoot all the«Spoonies»(Spoonbills) he saw, just because they were *there* and he was so excited to be out with his gun. The spoonbills were left dead. Otherwise useless, they are mere flying targets. This laughing about the excitement of killing and how amusing the friends were who simply shot at anything, was something that made my experience in this otherwise cozy place, one that simply bummed me out. Will never return. I am sorry, but gun happy, small-dicked men make me ill. Women doing the same… well screw them, too. They don’t want my type there, and I don’t want to be there. An old-boys’ network. Old shootin’ boys.

This guy is so great. He is cheerful and always starts a conversation that gets me interested. The pictures on the wall are nice and there is always a friendly atmosphere with the regulars. I always get the chai soy latte and single late. It’s great. Thank you.

Good coffee. I would choose it over Starbucks any time. Open 6am-2pm when I stopped by on a Thursday. It seems like the type of place where the barista would remember you, and make your drink the way you like it.

If you are after simple authenticity and quality — this is a place for you to start your morning. Do not be dissuaded by the look of cold burritos. Start ordering: espresso, croissant with eggs and a hearty conversation with the crowd that is as local as it gets. CA style.

Hidden gem here in Santa Cruz. I went here for the first time today and was pleasantly surprised. The specialty drinks are amazing and taste way better than the box chain stores. The set up inside is simple and reminds me of something you would find in Europe.

Stumbled upon this quaint little coffee shop while my car was getting worked on down the street. Decent, hot coffee and some deviled eggs made a perfect way to kill some time. I usually opt for Verve or Lulu’s, but it was kind of refreshing to not see a single laptop or thick-rimmed clad hipster; instead, this place is frequented by the gruff men working in this industrial-ish neighborhood. They have a cute patio in the back which gets good sun. Check out the bathroom! The back of the door made me chuckle.

The egg and cheese bagel and light roast coffee is deeeeeeeeliciomous! I found this place by accident one morning when I took a wrong turn, trying to find a coffee shop. Ha! This place ended up being better than the spot I was looking for. And the best part? It’s 4 blocks from my work :) My only complaint might be that the seats aren’t super comfortable for sitting in for any real length of time, but eh… if you’re just stopping by to grab a cuppa, then it doesnt matter. And the coffee is GOOD!
