Comcast Service Center

I‘ve been trying to get a resolution for my television issues for over three weeks now. Twice now I‘ve called the Philippines or India or whatever third world country call center they use to avoid paying a living wage to Americans. They follow their script to no avail and promise someone will call me and of course that call never comes. In the meantime I have intermittent sound on local channels, narration for the blind on other channels, and broadcasts in Spanish on TBS and ABC. Guess I should learn to lip-​read, speak Spanish and go blind before Comcast ever solves my issues. Really considering taking the cable box back to Comcast and telling them where to insert it.
Today I finally had an appointment for a tech to show up between 2 and 4 pm. I had a confirmation call yesterday and this morning, even talking to a REAL person. After a waiting two hours with no tech I called Comcast and was told that I had rescheduled and my new appointment was in one week. I did NOT reschedule! I can only assume the tech could not make the appointment and «rescheduled «for me. The least they could do is admit they couldn‘t make the «guaranteed» appointment and let me know. Comcast was dubbed «The Worst Company in America» by the Consumerist in 2014. I think they are going for the World Title. Unilocal needs a «No star» or «Negative star» rating for companies with abysmally poor service like Comcast.

HORRIBLE. I started internet service in September. I signed up for 105 Mbps. I actually got about 30. I called and complained. They said it was the modem (brand new and one of the ones they listed on their website). They sent a tech out. He did some tweaks and got it up to 70. The next day back to 30. I call back. Needs a new modem. BS. I buy and install a different modem. Speed is now 25. I call back. The rep tells me the modem I bought is only rated at 25. LIAR. I am looking at the box and it is rated over 300. I tell them to send someone out again9 3^rd. He replaces all the connectors, and gets the speed up. In addition, they changed my package to add TV and up the speed to 150 Mbps for the same price as the 105. I say OK, I don’t need the TV and won’t hook it up as I already have it, but since it costs the same…
Great until the bill comes; instead of $ 60 it is $ 195. I call and after about 45 minutes get someone who says he fixed everything. Took off the charge to come our and replace the connectors, changed the plan to what the told me they were going to do in the beginning, and my bill would be $ 60 plus tax.
I go on line to pay and guess what $ 149. I call and ask why. The people in India cannot answer that. They say I should go ahead and pay the $ 149 and if there is a mistake it will show next month. Yeah right!
I call back and connect to the rep to cancel service. I have to explain the whole thing again. He says he will take off the charge and make a note in the system (same thing the previous guy said). I told him that, and asked for his name «in case» it gets messed up again, which I am 100% confident it will. He gave me his first name, but can’t give a last name. So that will do a lot of good when I have to call back again.
Bottom line: If you sign up for any of their services, leave at least an hour a month to be on the phone trying to get them to do what they promise.

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE — answering machine can’t understand English or keypad numbers — then I get some dumb ass that tells me I’m not in the system even though they already billed me for the month and refused to do anything else and hung up on me. NOW that’s what I call customer service. NEVER AGAIN

Good luck speaking to anyone within a few thousand miles. I was given the Latino package because I live in NM. Oh and don’t bother turning on your tv after midnight, you’re paying $ 250/​month for infomercials. Internet out? That’s your fault for not upgrading to their new modem. Oh it takes 5 days to get a new one? What if I was a new installation customer? 5 days for install? The website (and phone tree) are designed to keep you from speaking to anyone. Direct TV here I come.

I made a tactical mistake. I had Comcast Residential Internet service for the past few years and it has worked well. But with my home office, I decided I would upgrade to Comcast Business service with faster speed. Naively I thought the install would be simple. Well, the tech came and switched out the modem to Comcast Business. I asked him if I had to do anything and he he said no. All was hooked up and working. He left without leaving any other instructions. All my devices worked and I thought nothing of it. However, I did not notice any faster service so I checked the speed on the test sites. Results: no increased speed. So I called Comcast … 2 hours later I learned: I was not connected to the Comcast business network; I was being charged for both residential AND business internet service; Business said «I» has to call Residential to cancel Residential because Business does not communicate with Residential. THEY ARE BOTH COMCAST! After the biz tech and I established the password to the Biz Network, I got connected to the faster speed service. The Bureaucracy in Comcast is unbelievable. I wasted so much time with this and if I had known, I would have not ‘upgraded’ — not worth the trouble.

Do not use their services unless you have no other choice. They always seem able to find extra charges to increase your bill by fifty to sixty percent every month. If I didn’t need an actual internet connection I’d be using a dish.

Based on these reviews and past experiences with other telecom companies, I had low expectations for today’s internet install. Especially since I live in an older adobe house with walls a mile thick, in a neighborhood that hasn’t had internet service in 7 years.
However, Mike arrived promptly, and after expressing some reservations about his drill bit being too short for the wall, he totally pulled it off. Ran cable from the telephone pole, neatly around the house, and exactly to the room where I needed the connection. Thought it would take at least two visits– one for consulting– to get this done.
Nevertheless, he apologized for the two and a half hours it all took, but mentioned that he wanted to do it «the right way,» thinking years ahead.
AWESOME.
The connection is blazing fast, and overall it was a five star experience. I only knocked one off for the cost. Not the most competitive price around, but seems worth it so far.

Ordered Internet before moving to Santa Fe from Los Angeles. Scheduled installation for December 30,2014. As of February 25, still no internet, no explanation as to why underground cable was not installed on February 10 as scheduled after cut line discovered on initial installation. Despite flags marking our property, spray painted arrows on the ground pointing to our property and all the digging equipment at the end of our driveway, somehow they missed us and installed line to our neighbor across the street! Oops. No one at Comcast has an explanation, nor an eta for completion. Numerous I’m sorry’s, I understand’s, we’ll get to the bottom of this’ etc. After hours of time on the phone or I should say on hold, I am beyond mystified. Stay away from Comcast if at all possible.

I would never recommend this service to any household. Yesterday I received a confirmation call indicating a technician would be here between 3 – 5:00. I arrived home at 1:00 and by 4:50 no one had arrived. I called the call center and the tecnician was supposedly on their way. At 5:45 I called back again, the customer service personnel wasn’t able to place a ticket at tat time. I asked to speak to a manager but none was available. At 6:30 I called back again to find out it was after hours and no technicians were available. Oh yeah, I waited a week for this service and now they want to reschedule for next week. I don’t think so.

I wish there was another choice to get high speed internet, but there’s not. The upstream speeds of satellite won’t do it and and neither will the DSL from Cyber Mesa.
Needed my cable internet installed by a certain date for work purposes. Set up an appointment with them to get everything installed and hooked up. When the appointment time came, they called me and said that the representative was running late and tried to talk me through setting it up remotely. Didn’t work.
Several days later, they got someone out here. He ended up having to go on the roof and completely rewire the system. Cost me time on a work project that I then had to pull several all nighters to complete.
Also, the bundled cable package, probably their most basic, doesn’t even come with ESPN.
AWFUL. Would switch immediately if there were any other options.

I made the mistake of changing to these bait and switch crooks.
A little history– I ordered the Triple Play to replace the really slow DSL internet (1.5 mb), two phone lines, and Dish for three TVs. Comcast is the only provider of fast internet in 87 505 and the all in price was fifty dollars less than the combined bills from Century Link and Dish. The installers arrive from Albuquerque in the window they had given and did an admirable job installing the system using my existing wiring. Their work order did not have my second line and to install it would add $ 45 according to their price list. They had me call Comcast sales and see if they could clear it up before the installers had to leave. Comcast does not have a system for reaching the salesman I originally dealt with (Michael #4D4 supposedly) and the woman who answered said there wasn’t any note of the second line, but she could add it for an additional $ 12 per month (really $ 11.99 or so). I was under the gun with the installers, so I said fine, thinking I would argue later. The second line was activated and all seemed to be well until after the installer left and the included long distance didn’t work. Two more calls to Comcast support eventually got them to work, only to discover the new phones somehow disabled the ADT alarm system.
Bottom line– I was quoted $ 121/​month for the first year and an additional $ 20 for the second plus tax between $ 10 – 15. After calling to complain I got a discount of $ 10 for 6 month, bringing my current bill to $ 127.50, but the tax is $ 25 (oops, they didn’t know, my tushie). The free install became $ 100. It is still cheaper than before, but not by as much.
Word to the wise: get it in writing before you have these crooks come to your house and have a lawyer on retainer to deal with them in the future. The problem is they are the only game in town for fast internet and we all feel the need for speed.

I must agree with Pepey… Comcast is a monopoly and charges outrageously high prices. My apartment complex was wired by Comcast, so getting any other service is almost impossible. Earlier this week, I called Comcast about my service: I wanted to drop Basic Cable and just keep my «Economy Internet» (their term). I was told that if I broke-​up my ‘package,’ I would have to pay almost twice as much for «Economy Internet» than I now pay. Shame on you, Comcast. My tesitcles ache from being pulled so hard!!!
Update: I just called Comcast and had the good luck to speak with a very kind rep, Jackie. When she deleted my cable service, she found a $ 29.99/month Internet service which I accepted. Perhaps dealing with Comcast can depend on WHO answers the phone. :-)

Over a year, DVR still doesn’t work. We are moving to DirectTV. Enough is enough. For all you people who are considering using them — if you have HD TV and want a DVR, head to DirectTV instead. Of people I know here, no problems with Dish, but almost every else has issues with Comcast.

Overpriced cable monopoly. People who need fast broadband are at the mercy of Comcast. Unfortunately, they will abuse their power until a faster and cheaper wireless alternative will come around.

My internet has been at snail paced «dial-​up» speeds for the past two weeks since they installed it – and the technicians, who didn’t show up at all during the first appointment and was late for the second, can’t figure it out. The call center usually takes over 20 minutes to get through to anyone, and you have to take the box and modem to the location at the end of your service, waiting in line to return it. They are archaic.

TV never works!!! First they say because the wires on my condo were never labeled. They supposedly come out to fix the problem. Guess what, still does not work!!! Impossible to get on the phone. Customer service is not helpful at all. Be prepared to spend some time on the phone. Most recent call was 30 plus minutes and I still have no service. Hung up as I could not stand to be transferred again.

Super helpful service (don’t use their website to order your Internet, it routes you to a call center in India), Internet speeds that beat the crap out of Qwest and competitive pricing… shoulda done this a long time ago.
