Empress Maids

I found this cleaning service on Unilocal and decided to give it a try. My call was promptly returned, we discussed pricing and set up an appointment. It was very reasonable and we set it up for the next day. Susanna and Jesse came and did the cleaning. They were very professional about the service and impressed me with their friendly attitude. My house looks great. I highly recommend Empress Maids. Thank you!

Didn’t care for them. The guy that I booked through was super nice but the ladies were meh. All I wanted was my kitchen and bathtub. Not bathroom, bathtub. The toilet and counters were already clean. I told them what I wanted at the beginning (clean the rail where the shower door slides on) but towards the end there was still gunk in it. She said she had already cleaned it but I took a piece of tissue and showed her that she hadn’t. The corners of my tub are a bit moldy. I had cleaned one side days before they came so I know how much of it is possible to come off. They didn’t even touch it. Clear difference between the one I did and the side they did. AND she didn’t do the side that is not seen if you are standing on the outside of the tub. I only saw it while I was showering. Plus now there is a weird stain in my tub.
Since they were not doing the living room or bedroom I asked if she can clean my fridge. She said no but I called and the guy asked them to do it.
This is what will make me never call them again. If they are cleaning a fridge, aren’t they supposed to throw away your expired food!!! I understand sometimes things are questionable but I have a whole fridge full of food that clearly expired 4+ months ago!!! She cleaned the shelves and put EVERYTHING back!!! It was December, why would I want milk that expired in August??? Or mayonnaise that expired in 2014? How hard is it to throw away little expired yogurt containers? She didn’t have to empty anything, just throw it away…
Plus a few days later I found a filthy bowl in my cupboard stacked in between other bowls. One of the maid’s name was Rosa, I forgot the other one.

Oh, Empress Maids. You used to be my maid service of choice, but after our last two encounters it’s time for me to move on.
The second-​to-​last time I used this service the maid broke a small makeup mirror in my bathroom (in two places!) and didn’t scrub out the bottom of the bathtub. Annoying, but the manager offered me a discount to make up for my trouble, so I figured the lackluster service was just a fluke. When it was time to utilize a maid service again (the weekend before Thanksgiving) I booked them without hesitation. I even scheduled a few weeks in advance since I knew that would be a popular weekend, and scored their first appointment of the day, at 8 am.
Ten minutes before their scheduled time I received a call from one of the maids; she couldn’t find parking near my building. While I was sympathetic (who among us hasn’t had to deal with the scourge that is LA street parking?), there wasn’t anything I could do to rectify the situation. I didn’t have a spare spot she could take, so she told me that she’d look around and get back to me. (Also, there was construction happening on my street, which I’m sure was annoying for the maids to deal with, but as employees of a traveling business in a major city I can’t imagine that this was the first time they’ve had to contend with parking issues.)
Over the next FIFTY MINUTES (yes, 50) the maids claimed to be looking for parking, which is insane. While the area in front of my building might have been unavailable, I live near numerous side streets, as well as being directly south of Sunset, and all of its metered parking would have been readily available that early on a Saturday. (In fact, I think the meters even open up at 8am, exactly when the maids were supposed to arrive.) I understand not wanting to have to park far away when you’re carrying a ton of cleaning supplies, but there were two maids present. One should have gotten out of the car with the stuff in front of my building while the other parked the car a block or two away.
During all of this nonsense I called the Empress Maids office, only to be greeted by their voicemail. I left a message, explaining what was going on and urging them to call me back ASAP. Apparently one of the maids had also tried to reach her boss, but he wasn’t picking up the phone. Not a good sign.
Eventually the maids (who still hadn’t left their vehicle) told me that they had other appointments to keep, and no longer had enough time to clean my place. As you can imagine, I was pissed. Not only was my business clearly not a priority, but now my entire morning had to be rescheduled as I frantically searched for another maid service who could clean my place last-​minute the weekend before a major holiday. Luckily I found someone, but it completely screwed up my day. Also, if parking issues are an acceptable reason for maids to no show, you need to clearly outline that in your terms of service. Never once in any of the times that I’ve used Empress have they ever said to me, «By the way, if you don’t provide parking we’re totally going to bounce.»
The following Monday (two days later) I finally heard back from the MIA manager via text message, even though I had never communicated with him via text before. (Dude, your company screwed up royally. That warrants a proper phone call.) He was apologetic and offered me a discount (hence two stars), but it was too little too late, as my place had already been cleaned by another company. You snooze, you lose, Empress Maids, and unfortunately you’ve lost this customer for good.

I have been using these guys for a year– and they are incredible. Lizzbeth and Jennifer came this week and what an amazing job! The place is spotless — and they did it with a lightning fast quickness. Very pro, and very trustworthy. I will keep using these guys as long as they are in business.

Lisbeth and Mariza were incredible. I called to make an appointment for the morning of Thanksgiving, for help on last minute prep for my Thanksgiving. The ladies were amazing to work with. They not only were kind, but they worked very fast and with an acute attention to detail. They cleaned everything correctly and made great use of the full 90 minutes they were billing for. I really appreciated that they also, made a point to attack areas that I pointed out as concerns even done to the last five minutes. They did a great job.

My husband was literally stunned when he got home.
My house was a mess, and they did a great job with no complaints. Showed up on time, did the work, and left with everyone smiling.
There were a few nit-​picky things missed — which is why four stars instead of five — but I’ll be calling them back for regular service!

They did a great job. There was a little mixup with scheduling that was my fault and they were totally flexible and willing to work with me. It was a little on the expensive side for a small apartment like mine (550 sq ft) but for a larger place it totally makes sense to call Empress.

Susanna and Jesse came to clean my townhome. I think they did a great job and it was well worth the money! I shopped around looking for a good house cleaner and the pricing is the best with Empress. They were a little late, but we know how traffic is in LA (especially in my area around they time I asked them to come) and they called which I appreciate and understand. They really worked their tails off and I was impressed how clean they made everything! I would use them again in a heartbeat and refer them to my friends. Great attitude, happy faces and a thorough clean. Great value!
Update: they came back today and once again did an amazing job! They cleaned things without me even asking and both have a good eye for detail. My husband and I are so impressed! Very easy to talk to and great attitudes! ;) I will only use them!

Yep! Found ‘em! These guys are officially my go-​to cleaners.
Saw the Unilocal coupon (33% off) so decided to give them a spin. They charge $ 93 for one cleaner (in my case, Rosa) for three hours time (that’s before the coupon). Pretty competitively priced even without the coupon.
Rosa arrived about twenty minutes early, but it wasn’t a big deal. She got right to work with very little instruction and blew through the house like a champ! She finished my one bedroom apartment — scrubbed, dusted, cleaned inside the microwave, swept, mopped — everything. And was done to my satisfaction 15 minutes early.

Susanna and Jesse of Empress Maids were a Godsend and a breath of fresh air! They cleaned our 2 bedroom and 2 bathroom apartment and we were again impressed with how immaculate and clean are home was after they left. We just had a baby (she arrived early and is in the NICU) and our home was in need of some love. They showed up with a smile, were kind, and have a strong work ethic! We would request them in a heartbeat! What a great value! Kudos to Susanna and Jesse!

They charged me for 4 hours when they only stayed two. If I hadn’t come home as she was leaving I wouldn’t have even known. Also nothing seemed like it had been cleaned. There was dust on every surface. The kitchen floor had been mopped but with dirty water, and everything (dust/​food bits) had been swept under a table. I brought all this up and all they did was refund the time they hadn’t been here (which I should have never been charged for to begin with). It’s very disappointing.

We were impressed with the service from the very first call. The staff here are very customer oriented and do all that they can to ensure you are satisfied with their service. We had Rosa and Elizabeth come out to do a deep cleaning and in an hour and a half they did a wonderful job. Everything looked amazing. We will be using them again in the future.

The best cleaning I’ve ever had. Empress maid, Tameka saved me by providing exceptional service. She was prompt, detail oriented, and thorough. I will continue doing business with Empress maids… I am «Empressed»;)

Mary and Louisa did a great job at our office! We’ve been using Empress for some time now and we love them! We have many clients come in, so it’s nice to not worry about cleanliness.
The only thing is I wish that we had the same maids for consistency, but each maid is always prompt and kind and does a great job.

They were quick and efficient, everything smelled and looked great.
one con: they used dirty water to mop the floor, so while it smelled clean, my white socks were brown after walking on the kitchen floor :(

The one star is for the one maid out of two that did a good cleaning job in my kitchen. The other maid was so bad, it’s laughable. I’ve even included a photo of the dirt left on my bathroom floor. So the list of «infractions,» is as follows: the maid haphazardly unplugged all of my computer ports while she was cleaning and since my computer doesn’t have a battery, everything crashed as a result, as already mentioned, she left an insane amount of dirt on my bathroom floor, and she replaced my cats bed with the entrance facing towards the wall, so my cat couldn’t get into it until I noticed the next day. Poor kitty! And in general, I could tell she did not want to be doing her job. I get it. Most jobs suck. Two options: get another job, or be grateful for the one you have and do it well. She chose the third option: hate your job and let it show!
I contacted Empress Maids and got a refund on the extra money I had paid for a «deep,» cleaning. Honestly, I would have paid even more if they did a really good job. But it just wasn’t that great. I only have a studio apartment. It’s small and easy to clean. I had to go over all the windows because they didn’t do it. And this was all the day before Thanksgiving with guests on the way! BOO!!!
