Atlas Tree Surgery

Atlas Tree Surgery is top notch. From the first phone call to the last employee leaving my property everything was great.
I got several bids and decided on Atlas because the bid was reasonable and I liked how thorough the estimator was. It turns out he’s the president/​founder of the company.
I had about 6 overgrown, dead/​dying trees removed. The site is extremely tight and the condition of the trees made the job perilous. The base of the biggest (and most dangerous) was about 3 ½ feet across.
The crew that came out worked together like a well oiled machine. They were constantly conscious of each other and the surrounding structures. It was fascinating to see the techniques they used to bring down the largest (and most dangerous) of the trees. The man in the bucket with the chainsaw was like an acrobat!
When they left, the site was clear of debris and quite tidy. The following week another employee returned and ground up all the stumps, including some from trees that had been cut down years ago. Some stumps were inches from a board fence. I was pretty sure there would be about 4 he couldn’t get to, but he was able to get all but one of those taken care of. Once again, the site was left in good condition.
I have a huge magnificent oak tree that needs some thinning and trimming for it’s health. You can bet it will be Atlas that does the work.

This service is the best. The guys that came here were like artists in our trees. They were both very courteous and professional as well as careful with the established landscaping below the trees. We made the mistake of overlooking the removal of our bird bath prior to the start of the job. A limb fell on it. The tree surgeon contacted the office to let them know and we were contacted within hours to discuss the matter of the cost of replacement. Top notch customer service and work. Very pleased.

I decided to DIY on a tree in my yard and of course got into a bind. I had to call the SRFD b/​c I feared part of the tree might fall and catch a power line. I called Atlas to save my bacon and Rich, the owner, showed up in less than 15 mins. He quickly diagnosed a solution to the issues, took steps to make any unintended outcome (my fault) as safe as possible, then executed with precision a perfect fall. I think I scared him when I jumped up and down and started shaking his hand! I would have gladly paid way more for this due to the emergent situation but Atlas refused my offer to pay them more. Where in the heck in today’s world does that happen? NO QUESTION, WITHOUT ANY DOUBT, ATLAS IS YOUR FIRST CALL FOR ARBORIST/​TREE ISSUES, PERIOD.

Carlos and his team of two others were great. They worked on two beautiful big oak trees as well as two apple trees and some pitysporum trees. Their work is excellent and we have had compliments from neighbors. Carlos and his team were professional and friendly. They communicated well and another contractor on site told me they were very courteous and coordinated with him in order to not cause interference. I liked my entire interaction with them and will definitely use Atlas Tree Surgery in the future.

Outstanding service provided to our Santa Rosa home, crew was polite, expressed genuine interest in assuring our needs were met, thorough with clean up, and provided a comprehensive review/​walk around for future work. We will use them again

I got four bids for tree removal. Two were high and two were low. Atlas was one of the low ones. They did exactly what they said they would for the price they quoted. They had the appropriate equipment. They were quick, efficient, and throughly professional. They were careful and cleaned up after the job was done. I would use them again.

Highly recommended. Had a crew of guys on our property for three solid days taking down huge trees. Incredibly polite and professional. The cost was very reasonable for the service and quality level received.

ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE.
I called Atlas to remove some stumps, a few small trees and trim some of my large trees as well as weed whack. The arborist who gave me the quote was very nice and all seemed well. I assumed this meant that I didn’t need to be present (especially since this house is 1.5 hours from my main residence), boy was I wrong.
Attempt #1: The day all of the work was scheduled, only tree trimmers showed up. No one knew where the rest of the crew was. They trimmed some trees back (leaving some broken branches) and removed the small ones. That was the highlight of my experience. The stump removers and the weed whackers were nowhere to be found.
I called Atlas and asked why no one else showed up. They said it was too hot and they didn’t have their schedule lined up so they’d have to come up another day.
Attempt #2: A week later the stump removers show up. Neighbors text me to inform me that a bunch of random street corners dudes that don’t seem to know what they were doing were randomly grinding things up with a large, scary machine. One of these objects included my plumbing which was completely severed. I received a call from Atlas letting me know the pipe was severed and I should probably fix it — they cut the water. I was getting really mad at this point. My neighbor told me they missed a lot of stumps, did an extremely unprofessional job and no experts showed up to supervise. They also left my driveway and entrance gates wide open when they left. I called up the boss who was extremely defensive and demanded they fix the pipe they cut in half. A landscaping crew was sent out at some point and did this even though they clearly wanted to leave the problem with me.
Attempt #3: I drive up to the property to find many stumps left in the ground, half cut or hastily covered in leaves. The weed whacker guy is there whacking the weeds. I point out the half done stumps and ones covered with leaves and he takes out a chain saw trying to cut some down. I then ask him about the dead trees they left all over the property and other debris, he says he’ll take care of it (while talking on his cell phone the entire time) and then literally vanishes for the day. My landscaper, who was there with me, said the stump job was so poorly done that many of those trees or bushes will grow back.
I receive a bill in my email before the work has been completed.
Attempt #4: Stump crew returns with actual employees. This time, learning my lesson, I went up to supervise the job. After waiting an hour past the time they were supposed to show up, I left for lunch. I returned to see them roll up about 1.5 hours late. I walked around the property and pointed out the various stumps and branches and they were removed.
I get a call from their secretary challenging me on the time the guys showed up and how that was a supposed «window.» I told her not to contact me anymore, the job was done and those sorts of employee politics are not my problem.
I gave my husband a check to mail, which he didn’t do right away and the company started going ballistic. It’s only been 3.5 weeks since they sent the final crew and I’ve received daily phone calls and emails asking for the money.
In short, a job that should have taken 6 hours in one day was drawn out to over 4 days and included hours of my time emailing and calling these people without an apology. I’ve included some photos of the terrible «stump grinding» job they did as well as the dead trees they left around the property.

I needed five trees removed. I got three quotes. Atlas was competitive and competent. The arborist was knowledgable, professional and helpful. The crew was quick, careful and friendly. I’d defiantly hire them again.

Look no further, working with Atlas Tree Surgery was an awesome experience. They came out and trimmed all the big branches back away from the house (getting ready for the possible El-​Nino this winter). They were professional, kind, on-​time and affordable. They removed all the debris and left the property looking great. I would highly recommend them and will definitely be using them in the future.

We have used Atlas every 2 – 3 yrs. for about 15 years. (we have a fair amount of property and MANY trees.) They have always been knowledgeable, prompt, courteous, efficient, very professional and make recommendations to preserve the health of the trees, accommodate fire safety standards and keep costs low. They will also tell us when to just leave the tree alone! We consistently get competitive bids, but inevitably choose Atlas because their prices are fair and reasonable, and they clearly prioritize taking care of the customer and the health of the tree (s). They have always been considerate of both ours and our neighbors property, and respect our requests to not have them start the work too early in the morning.

These people really know how to keep a customer happy. They have been to our property 4 times at this point. The first visit was from Brian, the arborist, who consulted with us about the problems we were having with several trees. He was knowledgeable and patiently explained all our options. We made appointments to have quite a bit of work done in 3 subsequent visits. In every followup visit, the crew was professional and courteous. They took all the time they needed, consulting with us to make sure that they were doing exactly what we wanted and expected. We’re going to need some additional tree work in the winter and you know who we’re gonna call!

Although there are many positive reviews for this company we are dissatisfied with Atlas Tree Surgery.
Initially Arborist Brian arrived to look at our job (several, stumps ground out and a few privets removed from a very small area). Brian appeared knowledgeable as well as polite. Unfortunately, when we arrived to see the finished work we could not believe it! The stumps had been removed, but the landscape lighting, landscape irrigation were broken, our newly painted fence was damaged by the machinery and there were multi-​colored service mark-​ups all over our parking area.
To make matters worse, about a month later a neighbor came over and said that the main homeowners association’s irrigation line had been cut resulting in several of the neighbors not having water for a period of time for their gardens. The home owners association ended up fixing this.
I would not recommend this company unless you are present to watch over their work.

this is so long overdue. i employed atlas tree about 6 – 8 months ago to remove a considerable number of trees (40 – 50) on a couple of acres and give the remaining trees a nice haircut. my goal was to keep the «local» trees, like oaks and get rid of the intrusive trees. i got three bids. rich came out and armed with his ipad, he gave me an estimate on site. impressive. rich’s bid was the best of the three and i can confidently say that atlas was worth every penny.
the crew was beyond professional and efficient. they were courteous and they worked FAST. they cleared my property in three days. the other bids i got asked for two weeks! the stump grinder called me, told me he looked up the septic lines around my property (amazing) and he scheduled a time. a few weeks after all was done, i wanted a particular stump further ground to clear room for a fence post and he came back out promptly.
atlas tree surgery is my tree place from now on. rich (also the owner) is also a tree guru. he knows all about trees and was instrumental in helping me on my decisions. he’s completely confident and has the utmost faith in his team, which was evident from the moment he shook my hand. he was unfazed when he saw another company out for a bid and even made tension-​breaking joke about it. the other bids balked about what a big job it was, but rich never wavered and it’s probably because atlas tree literally clears mountainsides and highways. they have the best equipment and a proficient crew.
these guys are the best around. don’t bother with the other companies because these guys set the standard.

The most professional crew I’ve ever seen. Prompt, courteous and skillful. I wish every contractor displayed their degree if professionalism. And they did the work for their exact bid.

Yesterday we had Atlas Tree Surgery cut down a redwood tree and prune another redwood. What impressed us the most was the caring and careful way they worked. Also the clean up was outstanding, they swept the deck, the yard was cleared of all or any branches, leaves, and chips. I highly recommend them. Thank you.

We had Atlas Tree Surgery prune and thin four of our trees (one of them a 20 year-​old Sycamore that had never been professionally pruned!). They arrived on time with quite a large crew, finished the job earlier than scheduled, hauled off the debris and cleaned up so you couldn’t even tell they’d been there. The quote I’d received was the same amount that I was invoiced for, so there were no hidden costs. I highly recommend them.

Brian, from Atlas, came out to trim the trees in my yard this morning. Brian is friendly and great to work with, he was honest with me about which trees needed trimming and which did not, and the price that he quoted was very reasonable. Very professional + very helpful + very conscientious about cleaning up after the work was done = very happy customer! Thanks again, Brian!

We recently had Atlas remove a 30ft Chinese Camphor tree, an olive tree and a few smaller trees in our backyard. They removed all the trees and came back later to grind the stumps as some stumps were growing right under our neighboring fence, we had to coordinate that portion. They provided a great service, great price and were very accommodating when scheduling the stump grinding at a later date. We would definitely recommend Atlas Tree and will use them again in the future.

I recently had asked Atlas to bid on removing several trees and large bushes in my backyard and along the sideyard. Rich came out on time to speak to me about what I wanted. He listened to me and got everything on the quote I had asked for including stump removal which Western Tree did not include (although I had asked). When the big day came Brian and his professional crew were early which delighted me. They got right to business after a quick walk through and in 3 hours time they had cleaned up and were ready to go. I am thrilled with their work. All of the crew and the ladies I spoke to on the phone were so nice and personable. I can’t wait to have them out again to trim my remaining trees. Their quote was right as I had expected too. Not too high and certainly worth it since they got everything I wanted. Go with them if you want the work done right!
