Great customer service. It was a casual Saturday morning ride with a buddy. We started from Sebastopol to Santa Rosa and back. I had a minor crash along the Prince Memorial Trail. Bent and cracked my front wheel. Luckily, I wasn’t too far from the bike shop. I waited about ten minutes before they opened up (they open ten that morning) and they quickly replaced my front wheel and trued my rear wheel as well. I wish I knew the guy’s name, but the bike mechanic was quick and professional. Got me back on the road within fifteen minutes. Thanks guys and good luck on your double century ride!

First warning should have been when they never returned the phone message I left after a week went by.
Trying again, I called ahead to mention I had a couple of bikes I wanted to sell, a kid’s bike, and a tandem. After spending more than half an hour driving there, I was informed by Brooks that they were too busy to look the bikes over to give me a price quote then and there. And that since the bikes weren’t in perfect condition, they wouldn’t accept them on consignment. Since I had no intention of leaving the bikes and making another trip to pick them up if they gave me a lowball price, I pressed for a price on the tandem, and was offered a ridiculously low $ 300 for a solid tandem in good condition.
It turns out that it is their policy to require one to leave a bike with them so they can «inspect» it at their leisure before quoting a price they would be willing to buy it for. This is clearly a manipulation of the seller, since the likelihood that you are going to make a trip back there to retrieve the bike after their low quote is much less than your refusal of the same quote if they give it to you while you’re still there.
I strongly suggest you avoid them.

Generally I buy local and even though there are a number of great bike shops in Oakland, I found a few on Craigslist with great prices at Bike Czar. The bike I wanted was ultimately a little small for my height but luckily Dave and Brooks had a better one to match my long legs. This one didn’t fall under the sales price I had anticipated but they gave me an excellent price — and Dave changed out the steam within minutes (for free)! It’s a way from home (for me), but Santa Rosans are lucky to live near such a great bike shop.

My boyfriend and I went in just looking for a bike for myself. We had a pleasant experience Dave helped us and thanks to him my boyfriend decided to buy a bike for himself for a great price. I highly recommend this place for both price and service! Thanks bicycle czar

I love Bike Czar. Sold me a vintage Euro bike for less than the asking price, as the brakes were pretty shoddy. Winter hours are a bit weird, you gotta call in advance first but that’s okay! Will be back for more stuff (parts!!!) In the future!

I would like to express my most sincere thanks to Brooks at The Bicycle Czar, Mariko, Kevin, and all the guys at Echelon Cycle Multisport. For helping me get my brand new bike back. My bike was stolen out of the back go my SUV in my drive way in May, about 5 days before My first Monte Rio Vineman. Well fast forward to last week when Brooks called and said that he had my bike at his shop. Someone brought it in and tried to sell it to him. Suspecting it was stolen he tracked me down using the Echelon sticker and I was able to retrieve my bike. Thank you soooooooo much to Brooks and all the awesome people that helped. Here’s to buying and supporting local the economy. It pays off. Please support these amazing businesses.

Great service, and friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great place to buy a bike. I was looking for an upgrade but didn’t want to pay the high prices for a new bike. The Czar had a great selection. I bought the perfect bike for me. The price was right and the staff even helped me with the extras I needed (rack, etc.). Follow up service is terrific too!

Nice place to pick up used but nice and clean parts/​components for your bike now since they remodeled. Friendly folks. The bikes seem reasonably priced and well reconditioned. Much better option for a quality ride vs. going to Wallyworld or Target.

Brooks helped me with a bike for my son and we helpful and not pushy about making a sale. They have all the parts you need and tune ups are reasonable priced.

The Bicycle Czar has great bikes at very reasonable prices and excellent service. My wife and I went in today looking for road bikes for our ride from SF to LA. Carissa made sure we got the right bikes and gave us very helpful tips on fit and riding. We are two very happy customers!

Checked out Bicycle Czar after my wife and I decided to pick up a bike for cruising around the neighborhood and local easy trails. The folks working there were very helpful. I wanted a cheap bike, I don’t need disc brakes or 50 gears or a bike made of carbon fiber. They weren’t pushy and didn’t try talking me in to a more expensive bike. I really appreciate that. My only complaint was they didn’t have much of a selection of gear. Anyway, they have a bike for just about everyone and their bike selection changes frequently.

OMG! Their prices are ridiculously high. $ 1100 for a nine year old bike that was only $ 1400 when new? You can find the same bike for around $ 500 on Ebay or CL. If you are buying here, you are being taken advantage of. Do your homework and your research before shopping here. Most of their complete bikes have been raped of the really good parts and had lesser parts swapped in.

I found exactly the bike I was looking for here about a year ago. A gorgeous ‘80s Centurion road bike! It was hard for me to find a small sized frame to match my height, but this bike was perfect. They have a small selection of bikes, so check back often if they don’t have what you’re looking for right away. And ask for Brooks, he’s the best!
Last week I needed a repair made and the folks here fixed it in just a few days and gave her a tune up for only $ 40!

I have bought mostly used bikes all these years of being a bike commuter and weekend cyclist, and think that Bike Czar does a fantastic job of posting their current inventory online and of having the bikes they sell in mint, ready-​to-​ride condition. The folks there the day I bought a road bike were fit specialists and were so helpful with decision making that was good fore and not just selling the most expensive bike. I will definitely buy from them again.

This review is for the fantastic customer service I received this afternoon from Carissa and Brooks. I got a flat tire around the corner and stopped in to see if I could get a new tube. I’ve never been in before. I didn’t know how to put the new tube in so they both took the time to walk my husband and I through the process including pointers. Nice people and amazingly helpful. When I graduate to needing a new bike I will definitely check them out first.

I’m definitely not impressed.
After looking for used quality bikes for some time I went on to their website and saw a bike I liked. The bike was listed for 225.00 which I thought was a fair price. After traveling there and checking out the bike, the price tags on the bike was $ 365.00. I told the guy that the Internet price was 225.00, and he said oh that’s a mistake. He then asked another guy that was there, and he came up with a different price, but it wasn’t 225.00. After being pissed off because they would not honor there advertised price, or said they would change it on their website I left, But not before looking at the other bikes. After looking at other comparable bikes at other used bike stores, I would say that they would be about 30% higher.

Brooks not only sold me a great bike at a great price but he also really went out of his way to make me feel comfortable and welcome.
I am a rookie cyclist and tend to ask a lot of «dumb questions» and he was very patient with me.
He also went out of his way to help me to map a route for me to bike from home to work. When I saw him again, two-​three months later, he remembered me and was thoughtful enough to ask me how the route was working out. I told him I had not tried it yet (not yet in the new office).
I followed up with some additional questions about bike routes and he was very prompt to respond.

Called in the morning about a specific bike before renting a car and driving out from the city. Upon arrival, I find that the bike I’d asked about was sold the previous day. So they either lied or didn’t bother to check.
Additionally, the bike wasn’t even the size that the seller claimed it was. Don’t trust them to fit your properly — they’re only concerned with making a sale.
