He has been a Certified Pool Operator (CPO) since 2000, as well as an active member in professional organizations, including the Independent Pool and Spa Service Association (IPSSA) and the Association of Pool and Spa Professionals (APSP), two groups that are responsible for higher industry standards.

I called Payan pool service on a Monday afternoon and I spoke with Erick in service. I told him that my pump was not pumping the water however the motor was running. I thought maybe i needed a new pump and I was willing to step up for a new one. Bummer just before Christmas. Erick recomened that they send a repair technician out to take a look at my equiptment and that it might not need such an expensive repair. The repairman showed up earlier than promised and in no time fixed my issue. As it turned out all I needed was a pipe repair and it was done for next to nothing. This was shocking to me that Payan pool knew I was ready to pay for a new pump and they are honest enough to just repair what was needed. Julie in the office called and she could not have been any nicer. She took my payment of $ 100.00 dollars and Thanked me. Heck Julie I am the one who needs to say Thank you to everyone that helped me at Payan pool service.

Horrible service! I had a Pentair salt chlorinator go bad and Pentair used Payan for the repair/​warranty service and they were terrible. Tech came out initially on a Wednesday and confirmed the unit was bad and said they’d be back on Monday after receiving the replacement unit from Pentair, never heard from them again. I called Pentair a week later after not hearing from Payan and Pentair said Payan had never contacted them after their visit to confirm the unit was defective and order the replacement. Pentair called Payan and they gave the excuse that their tech failed to submit the claim. This runaround went on for a month and I still never heard from Payan after repeated calls to the dealer. Pentair finally gave up on Payan and handed my case over to San Dieguito Pool Center who handled it properly. BEWARE!

I hired Payan pools to service our pool. I have been very pleased with the weekly service. The folks I have talked to have been pleasant. Here is the trouble, we have a pool light that needs fixing. I requested a quote from them to take care of it. They came out and took a look and gave me an acceptable price for the work. I wanted it done right away. Then they told me about an upgraded, and safer, LED light. Sounded good to me and my daughter likes the changing colors. They failed to tell me that this light would take a week to «order». The day the work work was scheduled a guy showed up to do one other thing we had agreed upon and told me about the delay to order the light. So I sucked it up and said ok. We agreed they would call and schedule a day when the light came in four days later. That time came and went with no call. I called them and they apologized and said they would get right back to me. No one called me. I called them back a week later and setup a time for them to come out. They came out and we’re not able to get the job completed. I understand that sometimes there is work that can’t be completed because of unforeseen issues, this can’t be prevented. I was at work during this visit. They told my wife they would have to come back with a diver. Did not say when. I called them and asked when? They did not have an answer but would call me back within the hour. It is now six days later and I have not heard from them. Feels like they just do not want the work. I would stay away from this company. The reviews on here are old. The most recent are more reflective of the poor follow up and lack of customer care.

We’ve been using Payan Pools for 2 – 3 years, for pool service. We hired them based on their good reputation. Things started out well, but in the last year we started seeing different technicians at our house every month or two. Then, we began to notice several pieces of our equipment had stopped working, and nobody from Payan had notified us. Our pool started getting cloudy with very low chlorine levels, and rather than checking the equipment, the technician just kept dumping more and more chlorine into the water every week, hurting our kids eyes; it turns out our saltwater system had stopped working. When we hired someone else to repair the system (which we had recently paid Payan to check and clean), we discovered the salt cell hadn’t been cleaned in quite some time, and this was the reason for the failure. I was met with attitude and no apology, or no callback at all, when I tried to discuss this with management. When I fired them, their manager responded, «Good luck in life.» They must have forgotten they’re a service company; the arrogance was surprising. Not sure what’s going on with Payan, but I don’t think they’re the company they used to be.

I had contacted them via telephone and received a quote on a repair /​part that was needed for my pool /​spa heater… they arrived 50 minutes early and my repair bill was less then the quote! Fast repair and no issues! This is the way to do business!

One of the absolute BEST local companies I have EVER had the pleasure of working with. Payan Pool Service came highly recommended to me, and having used a couple other pool services in the past (including one that I incredibly ended up having to file a police report on — see my other reviews) my expectations were low.
However, I needed weekly maintenance as well as new equipment to replace my 20 yr old broken stuff.
Payan Pools are the consummate professionals.
From the first person you encounter that answers the phone to their repair tech Grahme, to the weekly maintenance person Roger, to the billing person Julie, to the owner himself, who even contacted me, I have been absolutely amazed at how professional and thorough everyone is.
They show up when they say they will, they call you back immediately if you have a question, and they do stuff right the FIRST time !
My equipment has been replaced with an energy efficient, whisper quiet pump. Between the SDG& E rebate for the energy star equipment and the monthly savings vs my old energy hog/​broken down/​ultra noisy stuff the new pump will pay for itself in a year.
In the past, my pool service would include a 5 min visit to dump chlorine and leave, basically. Payan Pool Service actually tests the water, cleans the tile, skims the pool, checks the equipment, and leaves you a hand written log to show when they have been there and what they did. And all for the same price I was paying for the 5 min dump chlorine and run guys!
If you have a pool and live in the San Diego area, listen to the other reviews for this company. It just does not get any better than this folks!

Payan Pools approached us to add in an energy saving pool pump to our system. We have been so impressed with the service. They ended up charging us $ 200 less that they quoted us, delivered the pump right on time, they left our pool pump area better than before, and best of all the new pump is super quiet. We are so impressed that are going to start doing our pool maintenance. Thank you for the great service.

My wife and I own a vacation rental business where having the spas, pools and hot tubs operational are critical to the enjoyment and value of our guests. As such they get more use than the average home equipment.
Twice, now, Payan has shown remarkable and incredible service beyond expectation.
A corporate retreat was being held at our Mountain Retreat and it was found out that the boiler was inoperative on the day they were to arrive. Of course it was late on a Friday afternoon and the parts warehouses were closed.
The owner of Payan Pools offered the parts out of his own personal pool equipment from his house to solve the problem temporarily for the weekend so our guests would not be without a hot tub.
And Greg, their technician stayed long after hours and made multiple trips to our remote and secluded retreat in the back country to assure everything was working and that our guests were satisfied.
It is not often one finds this kind of service and resourcefulness in today’s market.
My hat is off to you and your team members.

I normally like to do my own pool maintenance, but occassionally I need help. It’s also hard to find a reliable, professional, and knowledgable pool service company that goes beyond just trying to sell you stuff and services you don’t need.
I’ve used Payan twice. Both times I had a great experience. The techs were courteous and professional. They gave me an accurate repair estimate and cleaned up after themselves.
Recently, they installed an energy efficient Intelliflow pool pump. Javier Payan personally came out to supervise the install. I have had no buyer’s remorse with the pump, mainly because of the professionalism and knowledge of Javier and his employees.
