I have used So Cal Truck twice now and in both cases I was very impressed with there professionalism, customer service, products, and cost. The first time I needed a receiver and plug added to a Santa Fe. It was a last minute trip and I needed to hail a trailer to Texas. They not only squeezed me in with no apointment, but had the entire job done in record time. Naturally when I needed a new trailer plug put on my truck I called them. I brought my truck in and he quoted me a very fair price for the plug and labor. I asked him to check the wiring as I had had problems with my trailer lights. They got right to work and a half hour later he told me my truck was ready and all the lights worked, but there was no 12 volt power to the plug. I hadn’t asked for it, I just assumed the old plug had it run. I told them I would like power so it would charge my trailer battery. Fifteen minutes later, my truck was done and at no additional charge for the extra labor or the parts needed to run 12 volt from the engine back.

Let’s start with the basic facts, I have a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado Crew Cab Short Bed. I searched various websites and came across a retractable camper shell on Craigslist these people were running a $ 199 sale for. I called Monday to ask if they had one to fit my truck and I was told they do. So today I drove the 25 minutes from Eastlake to Santee. I arrived at 10:55am and told them I wanted the camper shell I saw advertised on Craigslist for 2008 Chevrolet Silverado Crew Cab Short Bed. The guy at the counter said he had to go check the inventory first. Came back a couple minutes later and said they had one. He asked if I just wanted the cover or to have it installed. I asked how difficult was the install and the price. He said it takes us about 3 hours to install, it’s not very easy and $ 200 for installation. Since I’m driving back to the GREAT FREE REPUBLIC OF TEXAS in a couple weeks I would rather pay to have it installed and not worry about it. He told me they could do it today and I could either wait around in the building, with very limited places to sit, or walk to the mall down the street (Google maps has the entrance to the mall as 0.7 miles). I decided to walk since it was a nice day. I read a few magazines at Barnes and Noble then decided to walk around the mall looking for a place to eat. Opted for Einstein Bros only because I wanted a bagel. While eating I received a call at 1:35pm from a guy at the shop. «You have a five and a half foot bed and we don’t have anything to fit your truck.» I replied, «So you have nothing to fit my truck?» «No.» «Alright I’ll be back in a little bit.» Meaning I still had to walk 15 minutes back. Now 2 hours and 40 minutes later I was told they can’t do a job they initially told me could within 3 hours. Now I’m pissed to say the least. When I got back to the shop the same guy that said they could do the work said the guys in the back just told me they couldn’t do it. Really! First, they should have just measured my bed to ensure something would work. You know, kinda like the old measure twice and cut once rule. Second, why does it take 2 hours and 40 minutes just to say you can’t do it? Third, if they were able to do it does that mean it would have been an additional 3 hours from that point? So here’s a breakdown of my completely wasted day with a terrible company: 50 minutes round trip driving, 30 minutes walking to mall and back, and the 2 hour and 40 minutes to tell me they can’t = 4 hours wasted. Thanks for wasting my day and no I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Ordered a basic camper shell for my Tacoma.
Staff was helpful, installation took about an hour, and price was the same as other places.
It was a good experience.

I love this place. I’m a truck accessory geek and these guys stock all the good stuff and can order everything else. Courteous, professional, great prices and with the feel of a family run business. Highly recommended for all your truck accessory needs!

Im writing this review on the behalf of my boyfriend. He purchased a tailgate lock for his toyota taucoma over a year ago, the lock broke. He was able to get an appointment without difficulty. They ended up servicing him right away and at no charge. The shop is owned by elizabeth and paul. This is a super friendly family business. The staff is knowledgeable. Juan inspected and replaced the tail gate lock in less than 30 mins.
***BF also purchased a snug top camper shell and had no problems with it. It is super functional and he loves it!
We will definitely be returning for future truck accessories!

Since my first visit the staff at So Cal were very friendly and attentive to the many questions I had when looking for a new camper shell for my 2015 Tundra. The place has a great family owned environment and it shows with their customer service. I would definitely recommend So Cal to anyone. Now it’s time to enjoy my new SnugTop Super Sport Sportsman Package Shell.

Went in yesterday with the intent to order an ARE or SnugTop truck cap, walked out happy with a SnugTop on order. Elizabeth the owner was very helpful, their lot and install facilities look clean, and install went well and took just under 2 hours. I would recommend them.

I wasn’t sure exactly which truck cover I wanted, but Elizabeth took plenty of time to explain some of the different options to me. I still ended up having to find the specific solution I wanted myself, but when I called to ask about it she knew all the details about it, and helped me get exactly what I wanted. It was installed two days after I ordered it (fast), and the install crew stayed late on a Saturday and make sure it got done. So far it looks like the install went really well and the quality was good.
BUT, I was really specific that I wanted to make sure the cover would still work with the factory rails that I had, and I was assured that they would. Turns out that information was wrong (true for a Tacoma, but not a Tundra), and when I went to see the truck bed after the install, the rails had been uninstalled and were sitting in the bed. There is no way they can be reattached according to the guys that did the install. The worst part is they said someone would call me Monday after looking to see if there were any other alternatives, but nobody bothered.
So A for effort and a great install, but bad info up front and no follow up.

Every time I have been to this shop I have been pleased with their customer service and quality. I own a Jeep Wrangler and decided to go through them for my lift kit and some other parts and even though they sometimes didn’t stock what I was looking for, they gladly ordered it for me through the manufacture. They also went above and beyond when I had them rush install a muffler for my Jeep. Overall this is an awesome family owned business that takes pride in their work and craftsmanship! I can vouch for that! Thanks to Joel and the Crew!

I purchased a brand new Rebel Snug Top shell for my Toyota Tundra. The price was comparable to other dealers if not slightly cheaper. The install took about 1.5 hours. The techs speak Spanish and limited english. I had to get a sales guy to help me translate to adjust the latch.
After I arrived home, I noticed the dome light in the shell was not working. I checked the electrical line and it seemed in tact. A week later I brought my truck back in to get the light fixed. Apparently it came from Snug Top with a faulty ground in the dome light. One of the techs installed a new ground and an hour and a half later we were on our way.
I would think they would check the product before they spend the time putting it on the truck, or at least check all the electrical before they send you on your way. Wasted an extra 1.5 getting a repair not to mention and hour drive back to North County. It may have just been bad luck, but I would recommend my friends go elsewhere.

These guys are awesome! Very nice people to work with. I was very happy with the installation work a very clean job. I drove three hours each way to get there and it was worth it. Juan was very helpful and a great person. If you call ask for him. :-)

They do great work here. We have had several hitches installed over the years, plus repairs to a camper shell. They know their stuff!

I couldn’t be happier with the service I got at SOCAL! Elizabeth was totally professional in getting me what I wanted. The carpet kit was exactly what I was looking for. It arrived on time and fit perfectly. I couldn’t quite figure out the headboard at first. I decided to put down a 2X2 and that worked perfectly.

Great place to do business, Adam is very knowledgeable and a great salesman. I bought my first camper shell from these guys and they helped along the whole way. They did a very nice job installing the shell on truck, they do awesome wiring and do things the right way. You can’t go wrong working with these guys, they also great selection of camper shell parts and truck accessories. Highly recommend them.

I hate to have to write this, I came to this place because it had good Unilocal reviews. Well I just left this place and I had them replace one 6ft gasket strip on my trucks tonneau cover. Initially Juan the younger sales guy told me $ 45 for a new seal installed and it would be like the snugtop one in there showroom with an extra rubber flap. After I scrapped off the old seal for them in the mean time they put a new one on the cover. He told be the extra flap would be $ 16 bucks extra, I figured sure there must have been some sort of mix up on my end. Then when I went to pay he wanted $ 45 for labor which only took 20 min and I scrapped off the old gasket and $ 14 for the seal that they were suppose to do originally and $ 16 more for the extra flap? When I asked if $ 45 was the price per hr? He said it was for labor only and included the silicone adhesive (which is only about $ 2 at lowes). When I told him he told me $ 45 he said «I wouldn’t of said that». To make me «happy» he sold me the original overpriced seal for «half» of what he said it suppose to cost. This place is way over priced and a little shady. I’ll never come back here!

A buddy of mine wanted to come here to look for a shell for his truck. I’ve had an issue with my dome light inside my shell not being powered, so I figured I would go with and see what it would take to fix it.
The shop is clean and orderly. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Prices are not cheap but it looks like they concentrate on high end brands so that’s OK.
Guy quoted me $ 75 to repair my light. I made an appointment for a few days later and brought it in. As I was looking around I saw a replacement LED dome light and asked if they would put that in instead. They said no problem.
An hour and a half later my power was fixed and the light replaced. Total bill: $ 90.
I’m a satisfied customer.

This place is absolutely awesome. they got me in and out quite quickly, and I got an awesome deal on a great truck shell. I couldn’t be any happier with these guys. They even went out of their way to stay late to get my truck finished so I could make it for my deliveries tonight. Take your business here you won’t regret it.

The owner did in fact reach out to me. Offered me some money back due to the poor craftsmanship I received. When I did my research. They over charged me by the exact amount they refunded. So in the end I got the same deal I would have anywhere else except I received terrible customer service and lackadaisical craftsmanship.

Good enough. I bought a «refurbished» shell from them and the price was right. Found out the next day in cold weather the struts were shot. I went back and he gave me 1 replacement strut. Uh, ok. After seeing how horrible their competition is, I’m not going to be too picky. They also washed my truck afterwards. They have a pretty good selection of accessories to browse while you wait.
