My entire family and extended family use David, he is fair and knowledgeable. He has a thick accent but is still able to communicate effectively. Keep in mind this is a Mom and Pops business… with no Mom helping him, so David has to do it ALL. He might not always answer his phone probably because he is busy under the hood of a car, just leave a message (or it might take a few) but, he will call you back and get you in and get your car fixed without hassle with quality parts at a great price. I have referred him to many friends and NEVER have any of them had anything but thanks for my referral. It is nice to know we have a trustworthy and reliable mechanic that keeps our cars and trucks moving.

David needs a new location. He has no parking. I saw a guy park his vehicle across the street in a neighboring business parking lot, only to get yelled at. David did not seem to care.

I called 6 days ago, and got voice mail. I left my info and said I wanted to get a smog check scheduled. No callback… I’ll take my business elsewhere.

No wait, quick, no nonsense smog test service. $ 20+ in savings compared to other inexpensive smog-​only shops.

Always professional, I feel comfortable taking my car here. As a single woman, you never can tell who is giving you a fair deal. I have taken both my cars here, I will continue to do so. I highly recommend taking your car here!

I’ve been taking multiple cars to David for 7 – 8 years. I can best describe David in these few words: Honest, Competent, Reliable, Timely. I have sent family and friends there and they always are happy. I’ve price-​shopped expensive repairs just to make sure I am staying in budget and yes, David always comes in lower than his competition. I’ve had other mechanics tell me something should be replaced and David tells me it is fine for a while, $aving me money. I love that David does not say he will work on my car then not, like so many shops. David finishes his jobs almost always earlier than when he tells you. Dave has solved difficult problems for me in my cars, where other shops would have charged me enormous amounts of money to troubleshoot. But the number #1 thing is David is a HONEST and HUMBLE man, who stands by his word and work!!!

Bright Tech Auto is THE BEST auto repair I have ever been to. I’ve taken both my car & my husband’s truck to David. He always charges me much less than I expect, he explains everything that needs to be done, and he never makes me feel like an idiot for not being an engine expert. I would trust David to diagnose & take care of any repairs that my car or truck needed.
David is incredibly fast with a Smog check & very quick to order any parts & get the job done fast. So far he’s replaced the catalytic converters on our Toyota Matrix (car) & our Toyota Tundra (truck). He has repaired the brakes on both vehicles & repaired the AC on the Matrix. There’s one other engine repair I can’t even remember now but when the check engine light came on & crazy noises came out of the engine I just stopped the car, called David, & had the tow truck deliver my car to Bright Tech Auto!
We live in Clairemont but I still drive all the way back to Santee for David’s expertise & his incredible prices! I have even paid extra to have my car towed to Bright Tech Auto in Santee!

My partner turned me onto this place. Said it was listed as one of the recommended GO TO places for smog checks according to the DMV. Also said it was a small «dive» kind of auto repair shop, but that the guy got some good reviews, his prices reasonable and that he seemed to be honest and knew what he was doing… I had no idea at the time that he only had 3 reviews!
In need of hoses for my air conditioner, a leak check and new fluids I opted to take my SUV here. I also needed a gasket replaced having found an oil leak in my car. I’ve already priced both these issues out at 2 other reputable places… 1 more couldn’t hurt. Besides if this guy tries to sell me something more, I’ll know he wasn’t honest with his estimate and Unilocal would hear of it. I was hoping he’d come in lower… And he did.
After a good 20 minutes looking at my car. He came back with an estimate for my air conditioning issue… Said exactly the same as the other shops I tend to go to. He even looked at my oil leak and made the same recommendation… nothing more. This was promising.
5 minutes later, «David» calls out to an auto parts place, prices out my air conditioner issue and then my oil leak gasket. Each he’d written on a sheet of paper for me. Wow… his price was lower than the other places… considerably.
I opted for him to do my air conditioning first… I wanted to see what kind of work he did. 8am –12noon on a Saturday. done. I drove home with that familiar cold blast from my air conditioner (a blast I hadn’t felt for over a year)… I hesitated to hire him to do my transmission gasket… Its a big job… He’d have to take apart part of the engine just to get to the gasket… And then put it all back together again.
After reading the few reviews on him on Unilocal.I hesitated since only 2 of them were positive… I was ready to blast him for a bad job… But his reasonable prices were so good for my wallet at the moment. What’s the worse that could happen? He could fuck it up and I’d have him redo it or I’d bring it to my usual… which is miles away now that we moved.
8am — almost 4pm. the following Saturday and its done. 2 weeks later and still no oil leak. Or any sign of mishap… And my car is running great! All the electrical gauges not screaming any kind of foul.
David deserves this positive review… He saved me about $ 200 and he did the job well. I doubted him thinking I’d find something wrong. but nothing.
Thanks Bright Tech… (if you weren’t such a messy auto repair shop, I might have given you a 5 stars). Hell, its a greasy dive… But the job is done well.
4Woofs… Yay, I’m a fan. I don’t think those other Unilocalers knew what they’re talking about. Moral of story: Don’t judge a shop by its greasy, unkempt Sanford and Son’s look.
Open Monday — Friday 8am — 5PM, Saturdays 8am — 2pm, Sundays by appointment… omg. SUNDAYS TOO!

I wish I could say we still felt the same way. But after sinking $ 3500 into two cars this past year and both cars having more problems than they started with, I’d be lying if I said we did. Our rack & pinion broke and after having it supposedly fixed here our steering hasn’t been the same. Now we have additional problems which didn’t previously exist and he refused to fix what he broke on our steering column saying it was already that way, which it wasn’t. The other car we had the entire AC system redone (amongst other repairs), which cost a small fortune, because we had to have that car’s AC working for my disabled father in law. We wound up having to take it back in 3 times to get the AC to work even slightly. And it still didn’t work right, not like an AC system that had been just redone should. And then all these other electrical problems began popping up, the car began stalling out all the time and having these intermittent problems with starting. It was clear that if we ran the AC the car had these problems. We took it back in 4 more times and got no real resolution to any of the problems. We finally got sick of the excuses and took it to another mechanic only to find out that the problems all stemmed from mistakes made when we had 2 different repairs on this car, which we had done at Bright Tech. This was particularly frustrating since we talked my father in law in to taking his car there because we trusted David. The fact that he refused to fix any of the issues that he knew damn well were not problems before he touched the cars (yes, it problems happened on BOTH cars) and only wanted more money was irritating, yes, but mostly truly disappointing. Sorry, but do not take your car there!

Mr. David definitely deserves a round of applause for the wonderful service that he does at his autoshop. He is wonderful at what he does! He is very honest about his service and does not overcharge you unlike other autoshops. He is also really friendly ! His shop is a bit hard to find since it is in a very underrated area but he does fantastic work and his prices are really reasonable. I only go to Bright Tech Auto Service to get my car fixed. My whole family goes here every single time something is wrong with the car because we love how David always manages to fix all our car troubles. I highly, highly recommend Bright Tech Auto Service!

I do most of my own repair and maintenance, but when time doesn’t allow or I don’t have the tool, I call David.
My first experience was a coupon in the Penny Saver and a repair under an extended warranty. David pointed out a couple minor things that needed done while he was ‘under the hood’. One I could do, the other I picked up the part at Autozone and dropped it off. I paid a minimal fee for labor since the labor was charged for the main repair. Win-​win.
I’ve been back several times and will definitely recommend.
