Description

Specialties

The DaSilva Institute is not your typical doctor’s office. While traditional physicians are «disease-focused,» merely managing your symptoms for short-term relief, we are instead «patient-focused.» Our mission is to uncover the underlying causes of your illness, heal the body naturally, and restore balance to reverse and prevent disease.

Uncover the Root Cause of Illness

Your body’s systems are all interconnected, so an imbalance in one area can cause illness in another. We look at the whole person and all systems in the body as one. This approach, called functional medicine, connects the dots between genetics, environmental factors and lifestyle issues that influence your health and lead to disease…

History

Established in 2005.

Guy DaSilva, MD

I am often asked why I took the «alternative road» in medicine. I never truly intended to be unconventional. In fact, I spent many years as a staunch protector of academic and conventional medicine having been trained in numerous medical specialties in New York and New England. I graduated from Southampton College in 1978 with a degree in biochemistry; spent three years at New York University College of Dentistry where I became a devout student of the basic medical sciences and later earned my medical degree at the Spartan Health Sciences University School of Medicine in 1986 in the British West Indies. The next six-years of my life was spent in formal residency & fellowship training in a variety of medical specialties including Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at The Brooklyn Hospital Center, State University of New York Downstate Medical College, Internal Medicine at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, New York Medical College, & Hematology at the Hartford Hospital.
