I love this store. Wonderful products and great customer service! Everything from books to sage to jewelry!

New ownership is killing this store. Sad that a store that’s been here 22 years is going to founder because of it. The merchandise is cheap now and the service bad.
Loved the store under original owners.

I enjoy going to Elysian Fields and wandering around just to look at everything. I don’t always find things I have to have, but their are plenty of interesting items that I enjoy looking through. I love the book selection and some of the lotions and candles. A bit pricey, but fun.

I have visited this store several times to pick out books and gifts. I have yet to have a pleasant experience with the staff. Like others have noted, the energy is not clean and the staff lacks authenticity. I vow never to return.

Great selection of cards, books and trinkets. It is a very tranquil place to sit and browse the unique selection of books and charms. There is NO pressure on you from the sales people and they are very knowledgeable and helpful. I’d skip the readings. been to three of the practitioners and was underwhelmed. Overall the store is a great place.

My husband and I took a day trip to Sarasota for the day, and had looked up Metaphysical shops before leaving so to say the least this store was on our list.
Upon entering the store I didn’t feel the same energy you would usually feel with shops of this nature. In my opinion it’s an equivalent to say a major chain store like Barnes and Nobles is to smaller bookstores, not to say that it’s not a really nice store or that the staff was snobby in anyway but it had more of a commercial feel so to speak.
We did find some decently priced Moldavite, which is a rarity these days and I was able to pick up a book and some incense. The selection of tumbled stones was not very large and what they did have was mostly gemstone jewelry ornately set in silver or wire wrapped which of course was on the pricier side.
My biggest complaints were that although the staff was friendly, they were also a bit pushy. Every time I went close to a glass case I was asked if I needed any assistance. My husband stated that he was actually followed around the store by an associate and got the vibe that the associate was watching him for possible theft, which to me is not a very comfortable feeling when browsing etc.
The other complaint, is that sadly most merchandise was overpriced. Just like a commercial book store I referenced earlier it’s something I believe to be expected.
All in all my experience was not a bad one but I felt that this store was more a gift shop with eclectic items for sale as opposed to a dedicated metaphysical store.
Sadly I believe I won’t be returning to the store unless in need of something really special for a friend or loved one.

It’s been years since I’ve been there, but I remember the staff bugging me with «Can I help you find anything?» type questions and following me around. I’m giving this store 3 stars, because I enjoyed the atmosphere other than the staff, so I’m going back Friday. I’ll amend this review after that.

The customer service here is absolutely horrible. After purchasing a $ 50 bottle of essential oil, I came home to discover an empty bottle. Upon discovery, I went back to the store and the manager would not own up to the clerk’s mistake of failing to remove the tester and replacing it with a full bottle of essential oil. Instead, she stated the oil evaporated. Essential oils do NOT evaporate in a closed container just as olive oil does not while sitting on your shelf.
Do yourself a favor and shop elsewhere. Do NOT go here. They are SCAM artists.

I had a VERY pleasant experience in this store, and was greeted upon entry. The ladies at the counter were kind, friendly and welcoming. There was a booksigning taking place and they directed me to it. I am a very observant person and pick up easily when vibes are off, or when I feel uncomfortable, and I did NOT here. Not sure what some folks are talking about regarding snobbiness, but if you walk in someplace feeling bad, skeptic or defensive, people will only reflect to you what you feel.
Definitely visit this store! It’s full of treats and surprises. Parking is plentiful.

Neat place. They do readings too and the people are nice. Beautiful store. They sell tarot cards, greeting cards, kama sutra products (massage), stuff you spray in the toilet to prevent stinking the bathroom up after you poo… books, jewelry, cute little chopstick holders shaped like cranes… i enjoyed looking around!

I know I am going to sound harsh but I find this store to be a bit pretentious a la Sarasota. I do like their selection of merchandise, it is a pleasant experience and I buy incense and gifts there often. The sales ladies are nice albeit a bit snooty. Good selection of books which is a dying realm unfortunately. They also offer some interesting events.
I unfortunately got a cell phone call the first time I was in there; and had not noticed the sign that said no cell phones (which makes sense). The way the salesperson reprimanded me was a bit over the top. Especially since I picked up and said, «I will call you back I am in Elysian Fields» and hung up. Yet she still seemed to get too much joy out of her power. But lo, I was in the wrong so I guess I deserved it. What the ladies don’t realize though is that the fuss they make contradicts the reason they are prohibited — it causes angst for the other shoppers. I have since seen many a shopper get scolded, loudly.

As stated before, lots of cool stuff. But very snobby and overpriced. If you live in Sarasota, you can probably afford it. If you live elsewhere, look elsewhere. Most everything in the store can be bought on the internet at 50−75% less.

I have been shopping at Elysian fields since I was a child and they first opened 20 years ago (I am currently 22). I have never had a negative experience there and the staff is always amazing. The items are very high quality and you’ll never be disappointed with what you bought.
Most of the staff is very knowledgeable about the inventory and if they aren’t sure about something, they will quickly ask another associate to help you out or look up some information on the product without question.
The store is a bit more upscale, so it is a little bit pricey but it is worth it.
To any newcomer, the smell may be overwhelming but personally, I find it really relaxing and I love their candles/​incense. I go to Elysian fields for all of my spiritual items for my alter.

Though it is too expensive and the people working there are too snobby, I still love to walk around this store. My Dad got me a giftcard for Christmas from this store and I had fun picking out unique earrings and a lovely shawl. This store would be much better if the workers weren’t so uppity and hounding you every few minutes. They are also ridiculously rude about cellphones. Granted I don’t like people blaring around on mobile phones as much as anyone else, but there are more tactful ways of enforcing a store rule.

I absolutely love this little oasis of wonder. It’s a perfect place to find gifts that are different and feel very personal. They have a great selection of greeting cards and random eclectic knick knacks. And, they will even wrap your present for you! Total win.

Wonderful selection of Asian gifts, especially Japanese. For a small store I can spend a whole lot of time browsing and inevitably buying. The ideal store to find a gift for me that I’m sure to love.

I have to say that the attitude of the people in this store is a bit annoying. I had the feeling that they felt incredibly superior to just about anyone else, because they were «in the know» or something like that. That said, it’s a nice store that you can spend hours roaming around. There is always something to see.
I’m not sure this is the place to come if you are looking for something specific. But if you are looking for a gift, or just something fun. This would be a good place to come.
Although pricey, the items here are nice. The jewelry is generally hand made and very pretty. Expensive though. The books are really interesting, and it’s not just all new age stuff. There are other things too. For example, I bought a «Zombie Haiku» book for my boyfriend. So they do have a sense of humour, which is nice.
The one thing that really bugged me (although I’m sure some people find it nice) was the smell. They took their incents and their smells candles to a whole new level. I left with a budding headache.

Snobby snobby snobby! They do indeed have some neat stuff but I do not like being followed around a store when I have made it clear I do not need any more help than the help I sought out from the younger lady at the counter. This older woman made it her point to follow me around after a few times of asking me what I needed. Then, my cell phone alarm went off telling me it was time to pick up my daughter from school. She approached me hastily and you cant have that in here meaning my cell phone. There was a sign at the BOTTOM of the door, out of eye site when you enter and my ringer was on vibrate but to say you cant even bring it in?! What if I wanted to call my Aunt in DC and ask her what scent of candle she wanted or make sure she had no allergy to a certain ingredient in a lotion. That is bad customer service. Owning a retail store there should be compromise between the store and guest. Guests should know not to be on their phones while checking out or getting service and the store should understand there are extenuating circumstances for having a phone or pager on you at all times (ex. doctor needs to go deliver a baby, mother has sick child at school she needs to pick up, your partner was in a car wreck, ect. ect.) Due to her rude approach and disposition I decided to put down what I was going to purchase and seek it out online which I have and obtained for alot cheaper then I would have purchased in the store. With all the money they spend on advertising, you would think they could afford some common sense and good mannered employees.

One of my favorite gift stores ever! I wish they had one in California, where I currently live. I remember shopping here with my mom when I was a kid, and up until I moved out of Sarasota a year ago, Elysian Fields was my go-​to store for gifts for special people. I ALWAYS found beautiful and unique gifts.

Nothing you need but everything you want.
Mostly carries «alternative» (i.e. lovely gold Buddhas etc) gifts and beautiful things for the home. I have been going to this store since I was a child and I swear they pipe incense in there that propels you to purchase because I have never walked out of there without spending cash.
There is just a nice vibe to the place and really that is what it is all about. They have candles galore, all different smells, all different meanings. They have lotions and potions as well as other oils for any need. They have cards and books, all metaphysically oriented. Great jewelry as well. It’s not your mama’s small hole in the wall new age store, this place is upscale, beautiful and carries the best stuff.
They also have regular tarot readings for what seem to be standard cost. Definitely an uplifting place to visit. And of course to buy, ’cause you will buy (oh you will fall under that mysterious incense too!!)
