In the past I would always get chicken fingers and fries. if I could still eat chicken tenders, trust me I would. The fries are seriously the best French fries I’ve ever had. The view is so lovely. it’s a cute little date spot if your vacationing here :)

Old florida at its finest. Its a little shack you walk up to and order food made to order. The grouper is fresh and caught daily. Everything is suited to you. Rwat spot to sit with a beer asandwich and stare at the sea. By far the best water front restaurant in the area.

Stopped by there first time for lunch. Food was really good and fast for how busy there were. It’s a great view and a fun atmosphere. The staff was really friendly too!

This place was one of the worst places in my opinion… The tables were gross, clearly no one wipes them off throughout the day. The person that called the names you couldn’t hear so when another person called it and we heard it out food was freezing which they didn’t care about clearly. The burger was messy with mustard and again freezing. The clam basket was the worst I’ve ever had, it was relatable to eating little pieces of tire. The fried fish just like the clams was over cooked but not the worst part of the meal. The best part was the French fries honestly and they have only one trash barrel, that I saw, that isn’t near the tables. WORSTHOLEINTHEWALLFONDFORMYFAMILYEVER!!!

I had fish sandwich with side of French fries. Price was right and sandwich was great. Fantastic view(watching all the boats goes by). I enjoyed the food and location. Sweet tea was really sweet.

The atmosphere definitely trumps the food, not to say i did not enjoy my food. I ordered a double bacon cheese burger and a side of fries. Burger was flavorful and juicy, filled me up just right(thats coming from someone with a large appetite). I also really enjoyed the fries crisp, fresh, and flaky made just right

It’s a drive in of sorts. It’s pretty much pull up in your boat or car put in your order(burger hot dog or fish & chips) pay(cash) pick it up & go. Food is good & made fresh

After a day at the beach or on the boat, this is the best place to pickup a juicy burger and fries. Our family hits New Pass Grill almost every weekend. As a mix between a concession stand and outside tiki bar, it’s not a posh setting but it makes up for that by serving huge burgers and crispy fries. The burgers and fries are large enough for two adults to share. What’s even better about NPG is they serve beer and wine. And as icing on the cake, you get to watch all kinds of vessels travel through the pass. A great way to end a day in the sun!

Decent little burger for such a hole in the wall. Or hole in the sea, or whatever. Even the veggie burger was good better than some of the pricier and more tourist oriented spots. Nice to relax at a picnic table and enjoy some good food.

This place is DEFINITELYNOT a single $ — it is far more expensive than what it deserves to be. EVERYTHINGISSERVEDINSTYROFOAM! Really New Pass Grill, you are on the water and styrofoam does not decompose and is NOT compostable. This is 2015, get with the rest of the country and either use paper or some other sort of product rather than this ridiculous food casket. Food was mediocre and definitely not worth the price they charged. Pretty much self serve, walk up and order — then await for your name to be called and pick it up. Yet they still have a huge tip jar out front to make sure they get tipped for their customers doing all the work — including picking up their or food, utensils, condiments, and getting their own drinks, then picking up their own food. Get with the new millennium NPG, styrofoam is so 1980! You’re on the water and it is obvious you don’t care about the environment and the fish in our waters of Florida.

Not good. Went there with my two boys. I barely finished my «famous burger that people wait in line two hours for» and neither of my sons took more than three bites of theirs(one a cheeseburger and the other a chicken sandwich). Very disappointed in this place because it has all the makings and possibilities(and too high of prices) of a real gem, given their quaint and beautiful setting.

The stars are for the view. The food isn’t anything special — fried stuff out of a paper bag. Sit on the dock and enjoy the view.

1st time there today. What a great find! Super friendly staff, good food prepared exactly as requested, and an awesome seating area right by the water to enjoy the sights. A great casual dining experience! !

Sad to say… Great location but the food leaves you dissatisfied and hungry. We waited 30 minutes for a fried chicken sandwich which turned out to be stale, seemingly day old chicken fingers on a squished bun with shredded lettuce. The chicken fingers seemed to be bottom of the line ones from Winn Dixie. The sandwich cost $ 7. We also ordered a fish sandwich thinking this may be a headliner and it also took at least 20 minutes and was also stale and almost fishless. Not sure what was taking so long because it clearly wasn’t fresh out of the fryer. Seemed to me everything may have been microwaved. Anyway, just sad because we’ve gone every year for the ambience and decent food, and I think last year the food left something to be desired as well. So, fool me once, shame on me; fool me twice… It’s adiós for me and New Pass.

Come for the view and relax on a picnic table. The burger is okay as are the other items on the menu. The food is okay. What makes this place a hit is the relaxing low key vibe and the convenience for boaters.

i’ve been here every time i’ve visited sarasota. i’ve personally had the fish sandwich, tuna salad sandwich, french fries, and potato wedges. the tuna salad sandwich is the best i’ve had in the area! the other things have been good but nothing particularly special. i keep going back for the tuna sandwich and the gorgeous view!

This is one of my favorite places to go when I’m in Sarasota. The tuna sandwich is amazing, and I’m pescatarian so when I’m not in the mood for fish, their veggie burger is really good too. I also cannot pass up their fries. It’s a really nice place if you just need a quick lunch, and sit outside and watch the water.

This place is a cute little sandwich joint located on the harbor. Also known as a bait shop, it’s a multi-purpose hidden treasure. If you are familiar with the Sarasota/Longboat Key area, then it will not be hard to find. It is next to the Mote Aquarium before you come to the bridge at Longboat Key. If you have been on the boat all day or if you are in the area and want a sandwich, stop here. Reasonable prices and a laid-back atmosphere is what New Pass provides. They have a one-sided bar where you can eat that overlooks the harbor and also have picnic tables by the water. Order what you want then camp out until they call your name. The Cheeseburger was really good. Your choice of toppings: lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, mustard, mayo, and ketchup. There’s also a table with extra condiments to dress your burger. The Chicken Salad was delicious. I am extremely picky when it comes to chicken salad but they did this one quite well. I ordered my sandwich on whole wheat bread with lettuce, tomato, and onion. Well done New Pass, well done. The Tuna Salad is also another good choice. If I lived here I would frequent this place especially when I was on the boat all day. They serve beer, wine, sodas, gatorades, coffee, tea, etc. A great assortment of beverages on the water. The only thing I would not order there that I tried are the French Fries. They tasted like they had freezer burn and they were soggy. Instead grab a bag of chips. They are open from 7:00AM — 5:00PM, 7 days a week. If you don’t know about this place and you live in the area, check it out. The legend of New Pass was created by a hurricane in 1848. I can say that it’s the only good thing a hurricane has brought in quite a while. Cheers and Enjoy!

This is one of those places i have known about for years but never got around going to. I mean how many times have I driven or ridden past this place? After my last bad trip to the salty dog I said if I ride my bike out to the keys, I would stop and have lunch at the New Pass grill and bait shop. so we did that today. Nothing fancy, but the view is where it is all at. Little tables, some chairs around the dock and not much more than that. There is the bait shop, but I didn’t check that out. Just got a basic cheese burger and my lunch date had the fish sandwich. Both were might fine. Nothing special or creative but basically what you would expect from a walk up window at a bait shop. Properly cooked, but I’m pretty sure the hamburger was a frozen patty out of a box and so was the fish. But the bun and veggies were very good. They must be doing something right because they have been here forever. Beer selection is typical bud/miller/corona so nothing to get excited about there. But they know their clients so can’t go wrong there. The fries were good and the scenery was great. And know what? It was dirty cheep especially for what the competition down the road charges. Eight bucks for a cheese burger and fries now a days is a pretty good deal. YOu can probably make this a 4 star this time of year, sitting by the water eating your fries and having a beer. But I really can’t go higher than 3 based on the food.

The city of Sarasota has a special knack for taking all your cares away. Whether relaxing on the dock of a bay or lying on the white sandy beaches, it’s hard to care much about anything. The Bait Shop is another one of those places that makes you feel careless. We arrived hoping for a breakfast sandwich but found we were a half hour past the 10:30 cut-off. That couldn’t diminish our spirits and I took to ordering a grilled cheese that was absolutely delicious. We sat on a bench by the dock that provided the perfect setting for our lazy brunch. So pleased with our first experience, we returned two days later on our way out of town for one final meal. This time, I got the fish sandwich that was equally as tasty and sampled some fries that were golden and crispy! My friends were just as pleased with their cheeseburgers, clam and shrimp baskets, chicken salad, and turkey sandwiches. The people working here were really nice and welcome to customize your food however you please. Definitely a simple place but the crowds prove that it knows what it’s doing!
