Description

Specialties

We are an educational non-profit dedicated to connecting people to the water. We offer educational programs for youth and adults, public sails, and private charters. Come and enjoy yourself on our beautiful 82′ Schooner while supporting our mission! Individuals, groups, and families are welcome. All proceeds support our educational programs for underserved youth.

–Adventure Sails–

Help the crew raise sails and steer the boat, or just sit back and enjoy the view. Morning winds are typically light so we often get to sail under the Golden Gate Bridge. This is a great sail for families. Snacks and beverages included. Saturdays 9:30 am-12:30 pm

–Sunset Sails–

Watch the sunset from the deck of our 82′ schooner, Seaward. This is a relaxing way to end the week. Wine, beer, beverages and appetizers included. Don’t forget your sweater. Fridays 6 – 8:30pm

We also offer private charters, Farallones Sails, and overnight programs for youth and adults. (Check our Website for the Schedule)

History

Established in 2004.

The present organization and leadership of Call of the Sea comes from the collaborative merger in December 2004 of two like-minded groups, «Voyage Seaward for Learning» and «Call of the Sea». We joined our efforts, merged boards, and adopted the name Call of the Sea for this rechartered and revitalized educational nonprofit.

Supported by a $ 25,000 matching grant from the Renaissance Fund of Oakland, Call of the Sea purchased the business of Hawaiian Chieftain, a local tall ship that had been sold to the East Coast but left in its wake fine educational programs and a loyal following. With the Bay Model as our program partner, Call of the Sea added environmental science to complement the historical and nautical components.

Call of the Sea offers educational programs that keep students involved, active, and connected with the maritime world.
