Sunset sail, hot chocolate, and champagne, it sounded great and it was I took my family and girlfriends on the Freda B for a 3 hour sailing adventure. It was lovely, relaxing, and my 11 year old son had a ball. The captain, and crew were very nice, thoughtful, helpful and friendly. The weather were clear but a bit cold. The crew members offered us hot water bottles and blankets to keep warm. We cast off out of beautiful Sausalito. beautiful sunset What a beautiful evening. We really enjoyed.

What a MAGICAL experience it was to sail on the Freda B. Paul and his team were so much fun! The 3 hour sailing adventure was relaxing, informative, and beyond beautiful! We took off out of Sausalito, sailed under the Golden Gate Bridge, and around the front of the city before heading back. If you want a non-​touristy outing, full of awesome photo opportunities, good laughs and great company this is a MUST! I’ll definitely be back for another sail with this team!

My friend and I had a groupon for the sunset sail a couple of weeks ago. I thought it would be a nice way to spend the evening but it was so much more. We sailed on the Fred B, an 80 foot classic schooner. It was absolutely lovely to set sail on the bay by the Golden Gate Bridge as the sun was setting. San Francisco came alive in the darkening night. And we got to see the light show on the Bay Bridge. It became quite chilly once the sun went down but there were blankets and hot drinks and fresh made clam chowder from the Seafood Peddler, a local gem of a fish restaurant in Sausalito. The chowder was hot and delicious.
The crew was relaxed and friendly. It felt like they were taking a group of their friends out for an evening sail. I love being on the water and this was special. It was so leisurely to be sailing on a ship with tall sails through the beautiful San Francisco Bay. Time stood still and the two hours felt like a short vacation to another world where all that mattered was an endless stretch of time to absorb all the beauty around us.

We decided to try the Saturday morning (8:15 departure) yesterday just to see what it would be like. At worst we’d get a nice couple of hours on the Bay, but it turned out to be much, much better than that! The captain was very knowledgeable about the history of the back, why some things were built, what happened in the earthquakes of 1906 and 1989, who the big players were (and are) and kept up a steady flow of fascinating information for almost all of the trip. The crew was very friendly and professional, the coffee outstanding, and the breakfast pastries tasty. Add to that an interesting group of fellow adventurers and great weather and you can’t go wrong. We even made some new friends! Great value for the money!

After living in the SF Bay Area my whole life, I just went on this amazing sailing adventure for the first time, and it was awesome! We had a wonderful time. The Freda B is beautiful, well equipped and maintained and has a very capable, friendly and caring crew. The captain, Paul was very informative about the history of the area. I want to do it again and am recommending it to all.

I sailed on the Freda B yesterday afternoon — the weather was perfect but the highlight of this particular cruise was the «cannon battle» between the Hawaiian Chieftain and Lady Washington tall ships. That makes the view even more spectacular — plus we got «shot at» too. The captain also took us out just beyond the Golden Gate to be sure we got a lot of views. I didn’t have the clam chowder or the drinks — but everyone seemed happy. Friendly, informative crew. We had a great time — I recommend it.

Woke up early to be certain to be on time for deperture from Sausalito on the schooner Freda B. What a fantastic sail on the bay all along the Sausalito waterfront where we got a marvelous history of many of the homes and restaurants. Sailed out under the Golden Gate Bridge and some of us spotted a whale… I spotted a blow. All 3 sails blowing in the wind on a spectacular sunny day on the bay with friends. What a memory. Thank you so much to the Captain and the crew who kept us safe and happy.

After being in SF for six years, it was great to see my home town from a different perspective. If you are looking for a day full of amazing views and friendly people, porpoises and seals, look no further than SF Bay Adventures.

This review is for the sunset sail on the Freda B. I received a Groupon from a friend to take this sail across the Bay, and definitely had no idea what to expect. But this far exceeded what I could have ever thought.
The sunset sail is offered September through November, and again at select times in the spring. In the fall, they sail is across the bay and to the Golden Gate Bridge. In the spring, they sail to the Tiburon area and closer to the Richmond Bridge. Both seasons offer a variety of views, which are absolutely breathtaking.
Our tour went to the Golden Gate Bridge, and it was truly a once-​in-​a-​lifetime type of sail. The vessel was as smooth as butter as it glided through the water. The crew paid light jazz and interacted regularly with the guests. We sailed to the Golden Gate, and then floated most of the way back so that we could catch every moment of the sunset.
As the temperature dropped, I felt the need to grab a warm drink. They serve hot chocolate, hot cider, and hot tea. I got hot cider the first time, which was good (not too sweet), and went for the hot chocolate with whipped cream the second go round (which was AMAZING!!! That chocolate/​whipped cream combo gave me LIFE!!)
The crew of the Freda B did an AMAZING job of really giving us an A+ sailing experience. Customer service is definitely their forte. They were attentive to our needs at all time. Whether it was providing us with beverages or light snacks, taking pictures, or handing out blankets when it got too cold, they went above and beyond each time.
If you’re in San Francisco to visit, or even if you are a local and searching for a unique outing with a group of friends or family, the sunset sail is highly recommended. Book your tickets early or look for a discount coupon, which they may offer at the start of the season. The boat only takes cash, so make sure to bring enough to grab some of their beverages/​light snacks. You can also bring some snacks of your own. And don’t forget to tip! Not mandatory, but trust me, you will want to after you experience their stellar service.

We had a great time on their Sunday morning sail. The boat is really cool to be on, and the staff was cheery and made sure everyone had a good time. It was fun to watch them raise the sails.
Their naturalist (Taylor was his name I think) gave us an excellent commentary during the tour, and answered all our questions. There were free pastries and muffins on board, and coffee for $ 5 as well as other beverages. All in all, a great morning and we hope to return for another trip.

Perfect weekend, and it’s all because of SF Bay Adventures!
I had never heard of SF Bay Adventures, which was really surprising because I was researching fun things to do in the Bay Area that combined some sightseeing and a lot of mobility, and I never heard of them. That and the fact that this business has a really generic name that I wouldn’t be surprised if another business had the exact same name. As for the experience itself, there’s not much that I would change.
Normally, I would have given this business 4 stars because of the small mistakes and obstacles that my girlfriend and I came across before and during the trip. When we got to the location listed, we just came across a paper sign to meet them at the docks where they were anchored, across the street from a certain hotel they listed. Given that info, we were in a panic because we had to get there before they left (we basically had 5 minutes to look for it). So we rushed through downtown along the docks, and luckily we were able to find it among all the ships docked along the street. When we got there they were going over the safety talk, so we basically missed that whole talk. But someone with their head on straight should know about how to be safe on a moving boat in the ocean. We departed shortly after when everyone arrived by 6pm.
Almost immediately, it started getting windier and windier as the trip went on. We were on the sunset trip where they took us pretty close to San Francisco, and then routed back to Golden Gate Bridge where the sun was setting right in the middle of the bridge. It really was picture-​perfect there. The crew was really, really nice, professional, efficient, and approachable. They walked around the ship just casually talking to everyone about the boat, their lives, their plans for the future, etc. There were 2 – 3 kids on the trip that we were on, and they looked pretty excited, too. My girlfriend and I got to ask some of the other couples to help us take pictures. It seems like some people come back every now and then to just have a fun getaway for a couple hours on a weekend, and I think this would be the perfect way to do it if you don’t want to get your own boat! The crew even allows you to take a tour of the boat on your own accord, which was nice of them.
We ordered a hot chocolate for $ 5 with some whipped cream, which was pretty worth it because it kept my hands warm and it was a really big mug (and it tasted awesome). Just remember to bring cash if you’re looking to order drinks of snacks (they have plenty for the 2 hour trip). A lot of others were ordering beer so you can kind of smell the beer as you walked around.
Overall, the only regret I had was not dressing warm enough. I think if it was a half hour shorter I would have been fine, but looking back on it, there was no other way to witness the perfect sunset of my life without getting a little cold afterward. All in all, I would definitely recommend this place for the memories and the cheap price they offer for the relatively long (2 hour) trip. This experience even made me look better in the pictures somehow. In conclusion, it was a magical experience and I would definitely come back again!

We had a terrific time on the Go Giants! Friday night cruise. The crew was beyond attentive and accommodating. Highly recommend. Do bring warm jacket and hat. It’s cooold on the open water. Yummy clam chowder warmed us up. Fun birthday outing or any occasion.

I created an event with SF Bay Adventures for my company. It was a total success — the captain and crew was fantastic, the Freda B and sail was gorgeous, and the general tone was A-​mazing. Would work with them anytime. LOVE this family company!

Booked the boat for 2 hrs to celebrate a friends bday and she loved it. Captain Abby was really friendly and comforting. the entire experience starting from booking the cruise, all the way to the end of it was really good. Our boat was «CIMBA» and it was in a great condition.
I will definitely recommend sf bay charters to others & I would say that Bang for the Buck is the best over any other boat charter company =).

Our work group had an awesome afternoon with Captain Paul and his crew! We took about two hours and went all around the Bay, past Alcatraz, to the piers, along the coast… all the while the crew pointing out points of interest including other sailing outfits. They were very knowledgable about all. They served a lovely spread with excellent California wines and appetizers and even included homemade clam chowder in a branded mug we could keep.
Now I love boats, but I couldn’t think of a better way to enjoy the views and beautiful weather of San Francisco. The boat was interesting, the crew were professional but fun, and it was truly a memorable time.

Sunday night full moon sail. Amazing views of the Golden Gate, the Bay Bridge, and Alcatraz. Be sure to dress warm, and I mean extra warm if you are doing a night sail. Crew was fun and they offer hot chocolate, wine, beer, and snacks for sale.

Sailing was amazing!!! It was so wonderful. The crew and everybody makes u feel right at home. Wine and cheese and I was so pleased. The sunset was Beautiful and I can’t wait to go out on the Freda B. Again

I rented out the Freda B for my **0^th (big one) birthday last June and it was magical. A sail around the bay, McCovey Cove for the Giants game, a «honey» moon, fireworks — it was the best! Me and 40 of my nearest and dearest and the crew couldn’t have been nicer or more accommodating. We had pizza from Amici’s and beer and wine cash bar. Freda B staff was amazing throughout the process, from initial reservation to when we stepped off the boat. It went off without a hitch (except the Guants lost) and I highly recommend the experience. It was a night I will never forget!!!

What an incredible sail… MSG surprised me with booking a nice weekend sail recently, which departed from Sausalito and went around in a counter-​clockwise circle, going under the GG Br, and skirtin close to the shores of Fort Point and Crissy Field.
Magic is the only thing that comes to mind.
Clearest weather ever (captain commented on our luck) and warm all around. Wonderful coffee and pastry goodie treats in the morningtime.
Great time. would definitely come again and participate. Can charter for private events; besides the weekend sails, there are romantic sunset sails as well.
