History

Leopold’s Ice Cream, a Savannah tradition since 1919, features full fountain service and serves all natural homemade ice cream and delicious soups, salads and sandwiches. Leopold’s ice cream is manufactured directly on the premises using the original, secret recipes handed down since 1919. The shop features many of the original store fixtures circa early to mid1900’s. Dozens of displays of movie memorabilia from Stratton Leopold’s on-​going feature film career. Leopold’s Ice Cream is an award-​winning Savannah experience.

Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner

Leopold’s Ice Cream was founded in 1919 by three immigrant brothers from Greece: George, Peter and Basil Leopold. Stratton Leopold, Peter’s youngest child was schooled in the ice cream business since childhood. Stratton took over the family business upon his father’s passing. He later left Savannah and became a Hollywood Producer, having produced such films as Mission Impossible 3, Sum of All Fears and General’s Daughter. Stratton has also worked on other blockbuster hits such as The Big Chill and The Adventures of Baron Munchausen.
