Pie Society

My mom was wanting to stop in so we did on our last day, it was totally worth it! We tried the chocolate shortbread cookie, very good! The key lime pie was the best I’ve every had! The spinach, tomato and feta quiche was to die for, best quiche I’ve had. The apple pie was so good as well. I would definitely go her again for some dessert or that yummy quiche!!’ It’s a must!

Light, airy, and melt in your mouth pastries. Incredible steak and blue cheese pastry, sausage roll, and short bread. You can tell the caramel used is homemade — incredible and smooth with a nice hint of vanilla. A wonderful shop, and a must try. Also the man who was working was very friendly, patient, and helpful.

We are locals, and this was our first time here. We had the steak & mushroom (like a potpie), beef & blue cheese pasty, the vegetable pasty, and a hot fruit pie. All were good. Highly recommended.

We went to Pie Society for breakfast as it is near or hotel and we absolutely loved it!
We had the sausage and the sausage and cheese rolls. The pastry shell was crispy and buttery and flaky and delicious. The sausage was tender and so flavorful. I could eat this every day.
The place itself is very small (about 4 tables) You almost don’t even realize it is there, but make sure you look for it if you are near the city market.
All of the workers were so friendly! Stop in and try some British pies!

Great prices. Hardy food. I didn’t think my pasty would fill me up but it did. I wish I had one of these places in Orlando, FL. But for now it will be a treat for my vacations in Savannah! I wish I would have brought some home with me! You’ve gotta try it!

I’m loving the at eating at home feeling. At home plates and utensils make me want to put my foot up and take a nap. The brutish accent clerk make me want to buy a cup of tea.

Family owned. Only had the sweet pies, and it was good, just nothing we’d go back for.

The pies were yummy. You are somewhat limited on what they make that day. I am a vegetarian and had to go with what they had rather than what I wanted on the menu. Still, what they had was delicious. I would definitely go back.

The chicken pot pie was delicious. The establishment is very small with no restroom. Has seating for 10. Good for carryout more than dining in. I thought the quality of chicken and ingredients in general was quite good in the chicken pot pie. Individual pie which was a heavy meals was 9 $ and i could have probably shared it with someone and with small salad would be satisfying meal. Staff was very friendly.

After reading the reviews we stopped here for breakfast and are very happy we did.
Each of the four of us picked an item and, judging from how fast each was gulped down, no one was disappointed. I selected the egg, cheese, and sausage pasty and it was absolutely delicious.
I almost didn’t select it because I had pasties in northern Michigan where it’s fairly popular and they are something one eats only if the alternative is slow, painful starvation. Basically they take potatoes, add some meat, wrap it in flour, and call it food. The dryness of the inside is only exceeded by its blandness.
The pasty here is nothing like that, thankfully.

This made me wish I lived in Savannah, so I could just eat and hang out here whenever I wanted to I live in ATL, so it’s going to be a while until I could eat here again.
I found Pie Society while asking around where I could get some coffee. The place itself was small and unassuming. But as soon as I came in, I knew I was in for a treat. The pies smelled so good, and they had a good variety of traditional British pies and pastries. The folks in the shop are very friendly, and they are glad to answer any questions you have about their pies. I loved it so much I bought some to take home with me. In fact, I have just finished eating their chicken pot pie. Probably the best I’ve tasted! Loved their beef and blue cheese roll too. Yummy.

Outstanding place. The quality of the pastry is brilliant.
Pasties, pies, scones, the whole nine yards.
Everything there is good.
People who live and work in Savannah were coming in for lunch, especially firefighters, first-​responder people — who know where the good food is. Price$ are extremely reasonable.

The Bottom Line: Skip the flight to the UK and head on down to Pie Society. Probably the best traditional British pies that I’ve had in the USA.
Hearty Steak&Ale. Delicate Cheese, Onion and Potato. AND proper tea. In a tea cup. From a tea pot! Seriously, what’s not to love about this place?

I don’t remember which date we came here for lunch during our stay in Savannah. We also never ate British pies before eating here but I’m pretty sure they were authentic because the girl behind the counter spoke in a true British accent. They have another location 20 minutes from here in Pooler, GA as well.
I had two pasties with potato and cheese because the one vegetarian pie I was going to eat wasn’t ready at that time and it was going to take longer to make the pie than the pasties. It was okay because the pasties were delicious, very spicy and flavorful with the right amount of cheese and potatoes.
My husband loved his Irish Pie.
We also bought a cadbury crème egg from there to eat later and a cadbury caramel bar because I got excited about having access to English Cadbury items.
The girl behind the counter was so nice, she asked us how long we were staying and told us about the things that would happen in Savannah during our trip. Definitely stop in here if you’re touring Savannah.

Oh. My. God. Are you serious? This is as good as pastry gets. On a visit to Savannah for my husbands 50^th and St Patrick’s Day, we happened upon this little corner pastry shop. Not only do they have sweet but savory too. The meat pastries were out of this world! We went back for seconds and stopped again today. It’s a good thing I don’t live here because my waistline would suffer. They also sell hard to find Brit confections. If you’re in Savannah you MUST try! Kuddos!!!

The food here was great. We got the apple and sausage breakfast pastry, and the ham and mushroom quiche. The pastry filling had good flavor and wasn’t salty. The pastry shell was crispy and did not have an over buttery taste. The quiche was also good though it came with a thick layer of cheese on top.
We also wanted to try their pies but unfortunately those aren’t available until 10 a.m. each day. Seating inside also looked limited. The lady working up front was nice and helpful.

Individual quiches!!! Need I say more? Yeah I will! The quiche is amazing! I don’t usually like crust and theirs was very good.
I also got a sausage roll and it was incredibly tasty.
The prices are extremely fair and the portions are a good size. The ingredients taste high quality and each item I tried tasted truly homemade.
The store is cute, it is small and quaint so if there are a lot of people it can be a bit hard to move around in.
The location is awesome for walking to the store but if your planning to drive, either plan to walk a distance, search for a spot for a while or pay for parking. Any choices are worth it though.

I’m not sure where to start. I had high hopes for Pie Society after all the raving Unilocal reviews. And given its location, right off the main thoroughfare, I figured it was hard to go wrong.
Let’s start with the actual ordering of the pies. After we were able to get the person working there to set down her cell phone, it took much longer than necessary to communicate that the pies in the case were the only pies available. We asked about the pies on the menu listed above, and were told «that’s our menu of pies we have all the time». But you don’t have them now? «We have them, but these are the pies in our case.» So we can order the others? You have other pies in the back? «No. This is it.» Okay, how about beers? Do you have cold ones in the back? «What? These are our beers.» Yes but I only see the one. Are the more in the back? Refrigerated? «Yes we have cold beers.»
My favorite was trying to communicate that we’d be eating some of the pies in-​house and then taking what we couldn’t eat with us. Is this a foreign concept? To not be able to eat an entire pie in one sitting? So she finally boxed the pies up. I asked her for a bag, to easier transport our pies. I emphasized that we were still going to eat some pie there, but that we were taking our leftovers with us. She didn’t seem to understand this. So she bagged up all of our pies for us. She then pointed us to the plastic forks and knives on the counter on the side, only there weren’t any forks. When we asked if there were forks, she said no. ???
The entire ordering process was so unpleasant and unnecessarily long and confusing that we ended up leaving entirely, not that we can eat without the forks anyway, and heading straight for Wet Willie’s for alcohol.
We finally settled down on a bench to eat the pies. Here’s the review on the food.
Steak & potato — The ratio was about 5:1. Interesting ratio.
Vegetable — I think all the missing potato from the S&P made it into this one. All it had was potato and I think one green bean. Maybe two.
Lasagna — BEEF. Not enough tomato. Not enough anything. Throwing beef and cheese together doesn’t make lasagna.
Pork pie — Dry, giant mound of ground pork. There was some spice in there, which was nice, but there just wasn’t enough juice.
Pumpkin pie — She sold us a sweet potato pie and told us it was pumpkin. On the plus side, it was a decent sweet potato pie. On the downside, nobody but me thought so.
The prices were fine, but the food needs to really step it up. The service… just. Need a clean scrub on that one, too, I think. The idea is grand, and we were SO looking forward to pie. This place unfortunately didn’t deliver it well.

Finding this little British gem in the heart of downtown Savannah was such a welcome find! It’s a small shop, filled with British memorabilia, and the beautiful smiles of the lovely ladies that work there. All the nostalgics of my wonderful time in London came back and I suddenly felt like I was back across the pond.
There are a variety of delicious British pastries and pies to choose from– both savory and sweet. It was a chilly day in Savannah and I was looking for some savory pies like the ones I had in London. When I spotted the steak and ale pie I knew it was going to be mine! We also ordered the Cornish pasty which I also had while in London. The steak and ale pie was beyond amazing! It’s a personal size but it is large enough to share if you just want a snack. It had chunks of savory beef– perfectly seasoned with delicious ale and a thick gravy inside. The crust was perfectly flaky and all together it was one delicious bite. It warmed my heart, soul, and belly! The Cornish pasty was also very good. It’s their version of an empanada stuffed with beef and veggies. They also had sweet pies but I didn’t taste any. They had sweet potato, Apple, and cherry amongst others.
If you go during happy hour you can get their beers at a discount! Perfect place to grab a snack or bite and not spend a fortune. So if you need a break from the heavy laden southern cuisine, check out the Pie shop!

Came here for lunch after a day of walking and shopping in the area. Seating is a little tight and would be difficult for groups bigger than 4. After reading some of the reviews on Unilocal,we decided to order a chicken pot pie and peach pie. We were able to have the peach pie served right away, but were told the chicken pot pie was cooking and would be a 15 minute wait. Although it was a change of pace to have dessert first, the peach pie was delicious and warm.
Now for the reason I’m bumping my review down to a 3. About 20 minutes after our order, the server informed us that they forgot to turn on their oven. This was disappointing, as we were looking forward to their chicken pot pie. We were able to switch it out for the chicken satay pie. Although this pie was unique and savory, I was let down by the customer service we experienced. Having worked in the food industry in the past, I would have offered a pie/​slice on the house to satisfy the customer in this scenario.
Despite this, I would probably come back if I’m in the area. Good spot for a quick bite.
