SpringHill Suites Savannah Downtown/Historic District

Me and my family stayed at this hotel for st pattys day and it was really nice. The staff was very nice and super helpful, the rooms were clean, and you can’t beat the location! We were able to walk to the parade and then also able to walk to the river without having to drive anywhere. I didn’t wanna leave. For one, Savannah is gorgeous and for two, the hotel was great. I saw some reviews about he tv position and how the bathrooms were separate, but honestly that all worked out for us very well. So I would for sure stay here again next time!!!

Stayed here for two nights recently with the family and my daughter’s soccer team for a tournament in town. The lobby and breakfast area are nice, i really like the layout, pretty open. They could use a little more seating, but otherwise good. We had a double-​queen room, it was in the corner near the stairs so I think it was a little larger than most of their rooms. In any case, the rooms are fairly large with a separate sitting area and desk. It’s not totally isolated from the sleeping area, however, it’s a little separate which makes it nice with kids who go to bed earlier. The hotel is clean, modern, nicely decorated and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. The location is pretty convenient to the historic district and restaurants, only a few blocks away, and in a reasonable neighborhood (some parts of Savannah are a little run-​down and sketchy). Would definitely stay here again.
Positives: Clean, modern hotel with a nice breakfast area and lobby. Large rooms with 2 queen beds (not doubles) and pullout sofa.
Negatives: Cold in the hallways. Paper-​mill smell in hallways sometimes, but rooms were fine always.

Newly renovated and looks like it. Very nice lobby, modern with sweeping curves; room was clean with an extra sink/​toilet room; bed good (a great mattress earns a fifth star); location walking distance to all shops and restaurants. Valet parking handy and the attendant, Vincent was engaging.

Great 4 night stay! Stephen at the front desk was awesome, as well as everyone else we spoke with during the week. Any need was met (blankets, pillows) quickly. The rooms were clean and housekeeping kept our towels extra stocked (large family). The continental breakfast was adequate with your normal breads, waffles, cereal, and oatmeal, but also with eggs and sausage everyday.
The rooms were perfect (2 queens and couch) for our family of 6. Although I would say the couch bed wasn’t worth anything, even my 7 year old couldn’t stand it more than 5 minutes (you could feel every spring), but I was able to make him a small bed on the couch which worked. The best part of the room was the separate toilet and shower! Love that layout!
The hotel has a great location near tons of restaurants and stores. Compared to experiences at the Savannah Courtyard and Hilton (within a couple of blocks) this hotel FAR exceeds them both!
Looking forward to staying here again next time we visit!

Let me start by saying the concierge, the front desk staff, the breakfast staff deserve 6 stars, they were friendly and professional. I am a faithful Marriott patron, I will drive 50 miles to stay at a Marriott if need be.
I checked into the Savannah Spring Hill Suites on Monday, February 23^rd, scheduled to check out on Thursday, February 26^th. Due to a need to extend my stay, I contacted the hotel staff and made a separate reservation, checking in on the 26^th, departing on the 27^th. The type of room I was in was not available for another night, so I was required to change rooms.
The morning of the 26^th, I was able to check my luggage with the front desk staff for retrieval later that day when I returned to check-​in again and move to my new room.
The problem ensued the morning of the 27^th, upon departure, I began to check my room to be sure I had all my belongings. I sleep with socks on and they typically find themselves off my feet by morning. So in usual fashion, I pulled the covers back to check for socks and found blood on my sheets. I was immediately livid and sick to my stomach. I started to just write the staff a note and leave it at that until, I grabbed an unused towel and applied cold water to the towel. I took the lightly moist towel and applied moisture to the largest spot of blood on the sheet. The blood began to smear, letting me know this was not a stain that had been previously washed and unable to be removed from the sheets, this was a stain on sheets that had not been changed after another individual laid or slept on them.
I took a picture of the sheets, with my date stamped record of stay. There were three stains present on the sheet, to prove it was not my blood, I cut a portion of the area I applied the damp towel, in addition to the dry spot to the right of the photo frame.
Upon checking out I spoke to the Front Desk personnel, in which the attempt to comp my stay and/​or provide points would suffice for this egregious violation. I responded I did not want my stay credited nor the points; and at that time I was unsure of my course of action, but would be in touch.
To date, the only communication since my departure has been with my attorney. I have not been contacted by anyone from the hotel, even after contacting Corporate. I have never in all my life experienced such disgusting practices. I have traveled domestically and abroad this experience has forever damaged my ability to place trust in the hospitality industry and their regulated or lack thereof sanitary practices.

Pros — Clean room, clean hotel in general. Super comfy bed! Very nice staff. Warm pool
Cons — Slow wifi. REALLY hard water with a strong sulphur smell. I can’t be the first person to tell them this. There was a white film left on my skin after the shower and my skin felt dry. My hair was crunchy after washing it AND even still after using a deep conditioner in the shower. You need to install water filtration/​softeners on your sinks and showerheads. I’m from NYC where the water is very soft so I’m definitely not used to it.

Industrial cleaner odor, bathroom door broken, lumpy beds and shower faucet that needs a strong arm to turn on. Disappointed.

Spacious room and friendly staff. Microwave and fridge nice to have. Great shower. Valet was prompt and courtesy. Walking distance to various attractions. Potential areas of improvement: stains on floor and ceiling, bottle of whiskey bottle (¹⁄₃ full) in closet (???), slide door of toilet area (shower is in a different room) did not fitted properly against wall so gap doesn’t allow for privacy, only two small drawers in closet so unable to unpack luggage, charge for using wireless phone if more than two devices, parking fees.

The lobby was open and clean. Parking is valet only unless you find street parking on your own. I would not count on street parking. The location is nice and allows easy access to much of Savannah. The layout of our room was strange. The television was inconveniently placed and the toilet and shower were in different, unconnected rooms. There was free wifi which worked well for light internet browsing. Our room had a nice view of the south side of town.

I have tried several hotels in the Savannah area. The Courtyard Savannah Downtown/​Historic District — nothing great and the rooms vary wildly in experience. The Hilton Savannah DeSoto — more of a landmark than a great hotel experience and expensive as well. Then while walking around the downtown Savannah area, and being bumped once again trying to get out of town, I decided to give this place a try.
I am really glad I did. The pricing is great and everything feels new — not only literally but also in the slick design of the suites. For me this was a huge step forward from the other places I have tried and there is no downside on the location. Great for exploring downtown on foot from the front door and still a nice location for everything to do with SCAD.

Ok, Pros:
Location. Right in the middle of the historic district, walking distance to a lot of cool places.
Beds. They have one of the best hotel beds we’ve had, and we’ve stayed in plenty, and that’s big for us.
The layout. The bathroom and the toilet area are separate, which is a big plus, especially when traveling with more people.
Staff. Very friendly and helpful.
Price was reasonable and included free breakfast.
Now, cons:
The layout. Yes, it is both in pros and cons. The room seemed small and the layout was a littler awkward, wasn’t too much privacy allowed in the bathrooms, everything could be heard. Not much room to walk around either.
The comforter for the sofa bed had what looked like a burned stain, wasn’t happy about that.
Breakfast left much to be desired, weren’t too many choices, coffee was ok, but good thing they had a waffle station.
So, to sum up, 3 stars as had too many cons for me, and I’m usually good with giving out stars, but I guess should be expected, considering the price, which WAS good, compared to other hotels in the area.
It is still good to keep this location in mind, maybe will give it another try.

I absolutely loved this place. Service was impeccable, rooms were clean and up to par, valet was on point. We stayed for valentines 2014 and had an excellent view of the city from floor 6. Although it’s not exactly walking distance from downtown, well atleast not if you’re wearing heels. It’s still pretty close. I recommend trying to book through Hotwire or Travelocity as the at desk price can be a bit high. Average price is about 180. If you want something special though it’s worth every bit of it. Two thumbs up

This is a new location (for me anyway) in Savannah’s Historic District.
The lobby is huge and slightly inviting, IF there’s someone to greet you at the desk semi-​centered in the room. The concierge area/​desk is a little odd in that the concierge is actually seated behind a desk. There are no chairs for guests to be seated while having a conversation with the concierge but that could be strategic in that they don’t want/​anticipate the guests to linger.
Complimentary breakfast offered, We didn’t partake so I can’t offer a review of the offerings.
Overall, the hotel is clean. Our room was clean and had the basics (microwave and refrigerator, beds). I did like the toilet area being totally separate from the shower/​tub area. that was a plus especially when traveling with women.
the location was perfect walking distance to everything in the area (River Street, City Center, Henry’s, and shopping).
We are planning to keep this one in mind when planning visits to Savannah.

First of all I am definitely a fan of Marriott hotels. I am a silver elite member and probably stay in 10 – 12 Marriotts a year. In fact this is what I told the manager when I complained to him. This Marriott was ok but not up to Marriott’s tip top standards.
1. Walked in to find the pool was closed down — the 1^st week in Aug.?? Good planning there. The manager told me it was Marriott’s fault not that hotel — I said well at least they could have told me a head of time.
2. Then they put us in one room and then asked us to move so they could deep clean the room we were in. Ok, no problem — we moved.
3. I thought the desk staff was slow. As I paid more attention the lady working there, alone, was an intern.
4. We loved the guys in valet parking — they were super friendly but once it was raining so we asked if they could call us a cab. They said the front desk would do it – as you can guess slow front desk, we waited a while and then just ended up walking.
5. The breakfast and breakfast area was good.
6. Location was great and super convenient for walking!
7. I see some others complained about the cleaning staff waking them early. They over compensated. Our room was not cleaned by 2:30 pm and we really needed some towels to take showers. My daughter called and asked and they said some one would be up. After 30 min. I went down the hall and just grabbed some off the cart.
8. I did personally complain to the manager and while he seemed nice he didn’t really have any solutions other than summer is busy. He asked me several times what could he do for me. I wasn’t going to demand my money back as the situation was not that drastic — after the 3^rd time he asked I said — «well you can give me some extra Marriott points». I am guessing he forgot because that never happened.
I know I sound like a complainer but this is not a bad hotel it is just not up to Marriott’s usual excellent standards!

Great location and very nice and helpful staff members. Everything is very close, good breakfast and very clean. Rooms aren’t as big as i expected but nothing else found offers any better. Free internet is slower and cant be used for Netflix.

Overall the stay was nice but a few things bugged me as we stayed here. First off, housekeeping seems to think everyone staying there wakes up at the crack of dawn. We live on the West Coast, so when they were banging on our door to clean the room at 830 in the morning, it was 530 to us. A few of the days, I did not get to the door fast enough to tell them to come back later and she just used her key to barge right in. I explained our situation but each morning we were awoken by housekeeping at a VERY early hour. On a positive note, they were VERY friendly.
I also did not like the lay out of the bathrooms. With the type of sliding door that they had, if anyone was laying on the far bed, they got a good view of you doing your business… just what someone wants to see on vacation. Same with the shower. The TV was also off to the side in a very odd location, so if you were laying in bed you had to turn your neck to see the TV… you don’t see that often in hotels.
I also didn’t like that valet was your only option here. We were there visiting family, some living there and some staying at other hotels so we were out an about a lot and it was very inconvenient to have to get your car out of valet each time you leave, not to mention pricey as you have to tip the valet attendant each time in addition to the parking cost.
The room was very clean and the staff were all very friendly. If not for those small issues, I would have been 100% happy, but waking papa bear up too early does not make for a good day, just ask the kids.

This hotel is about a 5 minute walk from where the action is.
I spent almost a month here and I really enjoyed this place, the staff is very nice the rooms are clean and there is a nice heated pool.
The only drawback (IMO) is that they force you to valet park.
Rather than waiting for someone to bring me my car I opted to walk to the public parking one street over. While I don’t mind paying for parking, I hate having to wait for my car. The other issue was that the hotel seems to always be filled with kids that crowd the breakfast buffet in the morning — nothing against them, but I did have to go elsewhere for breakfast several times because there was no room in the area.
Overall the staff though made up for the minor shortcomings and I would definitely stay here again.

Checked in on a Thursday for a long weekend, Government discount took care of the 20 dollar fee each day for valet. Valet service was very efficient. The hotel itself is in a great location, helpful friendly staff, free breakfast and great free 24 hour coffee stand.
Room was very clean, tv is in an odd location (but it swivels) bed was not the most comfortable however sufficient and bathroom/​shower lay out is a bit odd.
Overall great value for your money and if we ever get back down to Savannah, GA we will stay here again!

Overall a very pleasant stay. They room was clean and quiet– my top two requirements for a hotel. Staff was mostly good but service could be slow at times. Its location can’t be beat and for a reasonable cost. In March (spring break) we paid $ 139/​night and were only minutes away from most anywhere we wanted to go in the historic district.
The pool was small but clean and the hot tub inviting. The breakfast was an absolute waste of time unless you drag yourself out of bed early before the rush. We learned that after the first morning. We ended up downstairs by 9:30am and found every serving tray scraped clean. The only thing left was something that resembled ham. It was the most disgusting shade of grey– I guess no one wanted to eat that! The following mornings we were downstairs by 8am and had no trouble getting grub. Food was blah– but it was free. Oh, and they had grits, which was a nice way to warm up on a chilly morning. With so many great dining choices in Savannah we’d eat just enough at the hotel to tide us over until we ate lunch by 11am.
The room itself is a little odd. The toilet and shower are in two separate «rooms» with pocket doors. The toilet room is about the size of a closet. The entire room is very narrow and laid out in a shotgun arrangement. The frosted door of the shower «room» isn’t very practical. The separate seating area has a pull out couch. It was a tight squeeze for 2 adults and 2 kids. But overall we had a nice visit and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.
