TailsSpin – Savannah

Went to the Whitmarsh store and as big as the store is, a female employee was talking so unbelievably loud about Chikfila, her weekend, etc., as she was walking around the store. She was carrying on non-​stop to another employee that no matter where I was in the store I couldn’t escape from the noise and couldn’t wait to get out of there! I would’ve shopped more had I not been so annoyed! On a positive note, the male cashier who at the check out was very pleasant, carried the dog food out to my car even though I said I could do it. I mentioned the unpleasant environment, and he said it was the Blue Buffalo rep. Either way, it’s unfortunate that someone related to the store can ruin a customer’s experience — and had I not asked, I would’ve thought it was a Tailspin employee. I spent over $ 60 on my very short visit and they have a great selection of dog treats, but I never plan on going back there again.

Very happy Tailspin has come to Whitmarsh Island. The customer service is awesome. Can’t wait to use the dog wash station.

So as I am new to the area, I stumbled across this pet store, Tailsspins. I thought how great! An independent pet store for my Holli. However, I must say I was completely let down during my visit. I was welcomed by a not so friendly, not so clean looking young man who asked me if I needed any help. After I said no, he just walked away no «okay if you change your mind let me know» and no checking back in on me later, just stopped in his tracks and turned around. Not only was i displeased about this un-​sincere first interaction, I was also very put off by the appearance of the young man. I put my instincts aside and stayed in the store to look around. Not only was I not approached again, but when I went to check out there was no friendly conversation there either. No questions about my day, my dog, not even the weather. I was only asked if I was on the customer list and I replied «no and I don’t want to be «due to his horrible customer service. The name on my sales slip said Jake and I had not seen any other employees around aside from a young lady who seemed friendly talking to another fellow shopper. Too bad she was busy and I got stuck with him. I must say I will not shop here again, overall bad experience.

The location in Pooler is the one I patronize. ALWAYS friendly greeting upon entering, and ALWAYS an offer of assistance. My brand choice of Orijen seems to fly off the shelf. 9÷26÷14 I was there to pick up a 5 lb. bag of Orijen Chicken dry cat food.(changing from Orijen Six Fish). None of either on the shelf.
The nice lady got right on the phone to the other store and asked that it be delivered, and gave my name. I was to pick it up Saturday. Returned Saturday about 11a, and was told the delivery was not in as it arrives with the employee from the store (Habersham) it should be in around 2p. No problem, said I would be back.
I returned at 2:08p. The gentleman from the other store was there but not the Orijen that was ordered for me. I admit I was a bit put out, but kept it to myself. Asked to use the restroom, and was given polite directions.
Upon returning to the floor, the lady handed me a plastic bag Orijen dry chicken cat food pkgs. With profuse apologies from both the gentleman and the lady, I received a bag filled with 5~ ONE POUND BAGS of the Orijen I had requested. When I pulled out my wallet to pay, I was told «Oh no, there is no charge «Mam, as we are sorry we didn’t have your order like we said we would. So we are giving you the one pound bags to make up for the 5 lb. bag you ordered-​free of charge.»
How delightful! A company that knows the value of a regular customer and the art of customer retention! Because of this conscientious service Tailspin will remain my FAVORITE pet store of choice.

I very much appreciate the response from the owner. I respect the time you took into the apology. However while I was in the store you were there and witnessed the entire interaction by the employee. The lack of customer service was laughable to me. I have nothing negative to say about the Pooler location though. They are very helpful and always kind.
«The fact that they say „top notch products“ is laughable. Basically they mean, we buy crap that we are going to up charge and your dog will destroy it in 2 minutes. For the 3^rd time in a row I bought a toy that was over $ 10 (a minimum price for this store) and my puppy destroyed it. Literally pieces everywhere in less then 3 minutes. The service given by Jerod was absolutely horrible. Because of his rude demeanor and lack of customer service I will never be back. Before I was buying $ 60 worth of dog food once a week. Never again. Its amazing how one person’s lack of respect can ruin a store for you. Hope you all try the pooler location versus this one. They have some sweet employees working in Pooler, and for how much they charge you, its nice to at least be greeted with some kindness. Will never be back sadly.»

Great store with very helpful staff. Best selection of quality dog food in town. The dog wash is wonderful also.

I have five cats and I wouldn’t want to go anywhere else for their cat food. Yes, it’s pricey but I noticed that I go slowly through this food because they eat less of it due to the better ingredients and no fillers. When they were eating the cheaper brands, they were always acting like they were starving to death but not with this food.
I’ve never bought cat toys from here and their selection is limited whereas the dog section has a little more, but I never found that to be a problem for me. Hell, I just give them a paper bag or box and they amuse themselves for hours.
Great store, friendly staff and even if it’s more expensive, your furbabies do benefit from it.

Wonderful pet store. Excellent customer service. Great selection of everything you need for your pets. Best of all they support all aspects of rescue animals in the savannah area. Great folks!!!

First of all, the employees here are always very helpful and have a smile, good people!
My dog refused to eat ANY brand of dog food, for days! I got some different samples of Precise dog food. He only liked Precise Holistic Complete Pork Meal… brat.
Tail Spin said they would gladly accept the unused portion of Precise Foundation and allow me to exchange it for Precise Holistic Pork! What a huge help this is to owners of finicky dogs! Oh, and they have reasonable prices for items that I would otherwise have to drive to S.C. for! Buy local!

I believe their employment application actually reads:

…because everyone who works here is ridiculously helpful and extremely cheerful. Seriously. Even to customers who seemingly don’t deserve it.
Their prices are actually pretty decent and if you can’t find a leash and collar that you like then I’d be shocked… their selection is insane. A perfect place for the dog owner… if you’re a cat owner the selection is kinda slim but let’s be honest… even cats don’t know what they like and it’d be silly to sell empty boxes and milk jug rings. ;)

GREAT local pet shop! They recommended the current grain free/​all natural dog food my precious baby is being fed.
The staff is always friendly and helpful and the shop offers a military discount.

My sister-​in-​law and I SPOIL our pooches! This great little shop makes that so easy! Plus it’s local, which is always something I love to support.
They carry Blue Buffalo, which is the food that works best for my sister-in-law’s Doberman’s temperamental stomach. They have TONS of treats our pups adore and the staff is super friendly and helpful!

Love these guys! So sweet, always helping out in the community and they’ve got a great selection of things to treat your pet right. Prices can be a little high, but it’s worth it for the furry members of your family. Thank you for all you guys do :]

If I could give 10 stars I would. I met these wonderful owners when I lived in Savannah briefly years ago. I have lived all over the US from including California (where the owners are from), Dallas, Denver/​Boulder, Montréal, Nashville, Miami, DC, and grew up in Nova Raton. Their shop is my favorite in the country. The owners and their staff have always find above and beyond. And not as though it was just a job mentality… but owners/​staff that actually care and are educated on their products. Offering many healthy brands of food/​treats and all price points. And a vast array of toys. bones, treats, food bowls, beds, leashes, collars, medicines, shampoos, and the list gos on. As an option they will keep you updated via email/​facebook and know what your usual purchases are as they get to know you. They have also done much for the community involving our pets. They are a great asset. I can’t imagine why anybody would shop anywhere else. I could go on and on but I would run out of space to type.

My old pet store back home is a hard act to follow. But I’m happy to find many of the brands we use near my new home. Staff is friendly and helpful, prices are a bit more than California, which I find a little shocking. Would be thrilled if they had some great customer rewards plan.

Very good customer service provided by all employees. Great selection of items. Their prices are very competitive with other locally owned premium pet food retailers.
They also have monthly low cost vac and micro chipping clinics in partnership with a vet’s office and also have pet adoption fairs.

We have frequented this store for a few years now. They were originally downtown and then moved to the Habersham location. The owners are good, kind people who always go the extra mile for you if you need anything. The prices in the store are cheaper or in line with those you would find at a large box store, but you are purchasing high quality food and merchandise for your family members, not bags of cardboard.
I was shocked when I read the bad review about this store. Anyone with half a brain and the slightest of incentives to drill down on an issue would realize that large chains have more bargaining power than small individually owned LOCAL stores. Tailspin provides top notch products for your pets at great prices. If you want an assembly line for your food and your pet’s, don’t go to tailspin. If you care about what you eat and about what your loved one’s eat, then see you at Tailspin next time.

The first thing I did when I found out I was going to grad school in Savannah was look for a pet store. Why? Well I have a pet, of course!
My dog has eaten the same food since he was a puppy. I have no desire to change it. So, I started searching and found out that only one place carries his food (Innova). Thank goodness it’s downtown!
I love going in this store, especially since they moved to a bigger location. The guys who own the place are great and, for all you SCAD students, they do a student discount!
They carry a variety of toys and collars and chewie things for dogs and cats. They also make tags right in the store which was great considering I had just moved. If you are looking for a better food for your dog or cat, if you need a toy or have new pet, this is a great place to go for stuff and advice.
The downside to this place is that they have kind of high prices. I pay ten dollars more for Tut’s food here than I did before but, considering it’s a big bag, it isn’t the worst deal. The worst deal in the store are their bully sticks which are priced the same as you would in petsmart or other store. I now buy all my bully sticks in bulk online because my dog chews them fast and I just can’t afford it otherwise.
Hands down, the best reason to go here is that they offer the best foods for your dogs and cats. And, when your dog or cat is eating better food they eat less of it because it doesn’t have fillers and is high in nutrients, they smell better (and so does their poop), and their more healthy which will lower your vet costs. So really, when you consider the benefits, spending more on your pet food from a friendly place may just save you in the long run.

Love the great food selection– It’s the only place we’ve found in town that carries California Naturals. They also have a great selection of healthy treats, too.
There is also a pretty good selection of fun collars and leashes, and a good variety of toys, considering the size of the store.
Prices here are a little more expensive than what you would find at a chain pet store, but I would rather pay a little more to support the local guy. Plus I love that this place is in my neighborhood and I can run over quickly without making a big trip to the Southside.

Curteous staff, prices cheaper than petsmart (at least for the large bags of Blue Buffalo dog food) but I am very dissapointed about advice given to new puppy owners while I was in the store. Not in line with their natural approach to pet care carrying a good variety of organic and hollistic food, treats and toys.
