The Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa

I will NEVER STAY AT THIS HOTEL AGAIN! The staff is rude, the restaurant is rude. To seat 3 separate groups in front of me and my 8yo daughter when tables were plenty is unforgiving. It just leads me to believe due to how me and my family were treated, that I’m staying at a discriminating hotel.

Stayed here for a quick weekend getaway with my fiancé and our dog, and the 3 of us had a great time. The staff was very kind and accommodating with our dog, which isn’t always the norm with pet friendly hotels. The room was spotlessly clean, view of the river was beautiful, the grounds are well kept, and the ferry to the historic area was wonderfully convenient. We can’t wait to come back!

This hotel is good. Room was clean. Staff was friendly. Service was good. Location is good too. Don’t worry about being across the river. It’s easy access to the action via the free water taxi and the views if you’re on the river facing side are really great.

Amazing rooms with a variety of breakfast, lunch and dinner. Also has a free ferry transportation and the staff is so nice.

My wife and I finally got a vacation since our honeymoon and I can say that if you must stay in a hotel, The Westin Harbor Golf Resort is the best. Upon arriving we were greeted by the valet and he was absolutely wonderful in helping us find where we were going and where the parking was. When we got to the front desk we were greeted with a warm smile and offered the upgraded river view room for a nominal per night fee. When we got to the room my wife’s eyes grew so large when she saw the view we had. Everything was great about the room, with the exception of the shower head, it just did not have the normal water pressure we were used to. The bed was extra comfortable and was very easy to fall asleep in. We had breakfast the second morning at the resort restaurant, the buffet was amazing and well worth the twenty two dollars per person. The best thing was the ferry back and forth to River Street, it was a free ferry and was nice because we did not have to pay for parking downtown. In closing if you need a nice place to stay this would be the place for you.

What an amazing property! It’s 20 minutes from the beach, the golf course is immaculate, and the staff is polite and well trained. Our families favorite part of the day was enjoying the Amazing breakfast buffet. I highly recommend this hotel, I will definitely be back.

Before coming into town, I called to make sure that the hotel had recieved my StarHot form and that everything was good to go for my reservation. Kieatta was a great help and she assured me that everything is good to go. She even asked me to revise my form and she printed it out for me. I was coming in from Atlanta, a 4 hour drive, in the snowy weather. I wanted to make sure that I was good to go when I got there. After speaking with her, I was so excited to visited a fellow SPG hotel.
I love SPG. However, this hotel in particular is interesting. For me, its all about service. I used to work for a SPG hotel and still work in the hospitality business. I feel like I understand the ins and outs but still was very disappointed.
I drove in through bad weather on Saturday from Atlanta, GA. I was tired, and just wanted to check into my room. I self-​parked but in the cold weather, that walk seemed too long. When walking up the front door, the bell staff was outside. They did not smile, greet me, or anything. I was not acknowledged at all. I kept walking inside. I arrived at 1pm and was prepared for my room not to be ready. After waiting in line for 20 minutes, I was ignored by a gentleman at the front desk. No one was standing in front of him, but I did not want to be rude and walk up to him. I was waiting for him to greet me. He looked up, then looked back down and ignored me. I wish I could remember his name, he was an older white male.
Finally, the next front desk agent assisted me. I also do not remember her name, but she is an African American female. She was nice, but not welcoming. Not warm. She just sounded like she was reading her lines from a book. Which stood out to me and set the tone for the stay. I do not expect her to be a cheerleader and be very excited to have me. However, a sense of warmth would have helped. I asked if a room with a river view was available. She said yes, for a $ 30 up charge. She asked me to sign some paper work for the up charge. Which basically set the charge in stone. No problem. Seems like normal protocol. However, the guest next to me asked the same thing and her attendant told her it would be $ 20. So now, Im not very pleased that I have not been welcomed to the hotel, and I’m being up-​charged by $ 10.
Then of course, there were a few issues with my reservation but my attendant was patient and let me check in while I figured things out. I had booked a StarHot rate and had booked the reservation incorrectly. I didn’t want to complain more about the up-​charge, I was already stressed out about my reservation. A StarHot rate allows a sibling or family member of a SPG employee to stay at any SPG hotel on a discounted rate, if available. A lot of people try to trick the system and make fake discounts. I know how frustrating that can be. But that was not what I was trying to do. I felt like the front desk attendant was treating me as if that was the case. I understand that I got a good deal on the hotel, but that is no way to be treated. I am just as capable paying full price for a hotel like the Westin.
I came back downstairs to let the front desk know that I was able to fix my reservation. The female that helped me earlier was not there. She was in the back. The gentleman who ignored me at first was the only one available. His manager was next to him and was watching him. This time he was overly nice. It made me feel like he was doing that only because his manager was next to him. The manager walked away. I told him that when I went upstairs, I noticed a puddle of water on the window sill. I asked what it could be. Is it because its been raining and snowing? He said he doesn’t know. And proceeded to fix my reservation. He did not acknowledge my complaint. I didn’t want to switch rooms, I wasn’t looking for a discount. I simply wanted him to see if anything could be done. The room smelled moldy and damp. That’s never a good sign. I just left it alone and went back to my room. I was only staying there for one night. I didn’t to be a pest.
I went back upstairs and turned the air down and left the door open to hopefully let it air out. That moldy smell. I noticed other things along the way. The furniture is beat up, the carpet is gross, and the lighting is awful. ²⁄₃ lamps in the room were out. It was not up to Westin standards.
The next morning, Antonio was the attendant that helped with my check out process. He was nice. He was helping and asked if we need help with our luggage, and if we wanted a printed folio. He was trying to make small talk and made us feel welcome. If the stay would have started in that spirit, then maybe the stay would not have been that bad.
I favor SPG. Westin Savannah did not live up to the reviews and to the name. Very disappointing stay.

The hotel was beautiful overall. Beds were super comfy and our view was amazing. However when we checked in, we were given no info on the ferry from this particular staff agent, just given a room key and that was it. He seemed slightly annoyed about any questions we had asked. Also in the morning at 8 am we were woken up by loud banging and slamming on doors and it was housekeeping. I was curious as to why it was so early and housekeeping was trying to get into our room. Also as we left our room and made out way to the elevators, a housekeeper followed us down and asked if we were done in our room. We told her no as checkout is at noon, and she then walked away. For such a beautiful hotel, the staff doesn’t seem up to par.

One of the best hotels I have ever stay at. So nice and clean and friendly staff. A must to return. Thank u for the great experience.

My Wife and I were in Savannah for one night as we drove to North Carolina. As an SPG member we decided to give The Westin a try and we are extremely happy we did. To start the staff was fantastic. I was a walking with no reservations and they went thru a lot of discount codes and even recommended I use the app to reserve a room. I did end up using the app and was thrilled that the room was 10 000 points.
The location was great if you are looking for a convention hotel the convention center is walking distance as is the free ferry. The ferry runs till midnight and takes you from the hotel to the center of downtown Savannah,
The room itself was great we had a golf side view. The bed and room were very clean and it had a great rain shower. We would definitely come back.
The only thing we were not impressed by was the breakfast at the aqua star which was just ok and a little too expensive i think.

Stayed here 3 nights for a conference in a room with two double beds. I thought the pillows and blankets were real comfortable and the bathroom had a great shower with good water pressure which is important to me. The conference was at this hotel and all the Westin staff were very helpful when asked a question and the food we ate during our meals was good, although lunch one day was a bit cold on the buffet. I had a decent view, but it was above the entrance which was loud at times when groups of rowdy people were coming or going, but no complaints really. I’d stay there again for sure.

This is the location of the annual Christmas in the South. Although this event has been taking place here years, this was my first time attending. I’m not much of a Christmas person at all (and no my childhood was just fine) but I finally decided to give it a go. I must admit I was a bit taken back because it’s not what I expected at all. Instead of a bunch of name branded retailers pushing their products, to my surprise there were none at all just regular local people. It was actually refreshing to see local mom and pops from the surrounding area selling their goods. Did it make my heart grow 10 sizes no that only in the movies but it did put a smile on my face and that’s a start :-D

Hotel was nice but house keeping stole some of my things they maybe thought I wouldn’t notice! They took my apple headphones,($ 30) a phone case ($ 60), and some of my brand new Mac lipsticks ($ 20ea). I had a lot of the stuff on the table maybe they thought since it was so much I wouldn’t notice the little things but I did. It was new, in boxes, and was taken.
I told the desk and they said they’d look into it but never did. I stay at the Westin all the time and this is the first negative thing and it is just so irritating.
Everything else was fine. It’s not an extravagant hotel but a nice standard.

Rooms were clean, and the heavenly beds are comfortable. We stayed in a room away from the elevators, and it was nice and quiet. They also offer free WiFi and free parking.
There is a free ferry service that runs every 20 min across the river and into historic downtown Savannah.
The fitness center is a five min walk away, and it had a few cardio machines, nautilus type machines, and free weights. The TVs on the cardio machines could have used some more channels. I think it only had a few local channels, news channels, and ESPN.

We arrived on a Sunday late September night so our checkin was pretty good and got an upgrade to a river facing room. Very nice comfy bed. Room and bathroom are spacious enough for any wheelchair bound person.
We got room service for food and it came about 30 minutes as they said it did.
You get 5 dollar point for waiving room cleanup and towel change,
Ferry ride across river to the town was convenient althought the schedule changes from 2 ferry to 1 ferry .
The pool is a saline pool, I am not sure if its heated but the first 3 days the weather was in low 80’s and muggy, so its nice in the pool.
I wake up pretty early and I see them cleaning the pool in the morning.
The gym and the spa is at the golf course facility and the hotel povides a shuttle service there, or you can use their bicycle and or walk it in 5 minutes.
The hotel is right next to the convention center .
The weather chnaged from summer to fall during our stay lol.
I do wished the hotel has walking trails around.
Wifi is paid and not. The free is limited but if you got unlimited internet with your phone, then you dont need it.

No one showed me southern hospitality more than the folks at this hotel did. Anything I wanted, whether it be simple requests like microwaving some food or large requests like being drive across to get to the gym on a misty morning, these folks always made me feel welcome.
The hotel itself was very clean and very nicely decorated. It’s right across the river and you can take the ferry across and walk down their river walk strip. I bought souvenirs here and recommend the ice cream shop right on the corner. I can’t remember the name but it was delicious.

Golf Course Review…
OMG the gnats… I’ve never heard of these small flea-​like creatures that made my early morning July round nearly impossible.
That being said I found the course to be in good shape, well laid out and challenging from the whites. It plays completely different from the tips and is extremely challenging. It’s a championship 18 hole par 72 Robert Cupp /​Sam Snead designed course.
A complete practice facility with a driving range and a chipping and putting area. The clubhouse is fairly standard although the food is a little lacking and tends to be pricey.

Okay. First of all I have to say that both times I’ve been to Savannah I have stayed at this establishment and I still think it’s one of the best. They have wonderful views of the river plus a ferry boat that takes you across to River Street and leaves quite often. Might I add that the ferry allows dogs on it which is a MAJOR plus for me and brownie points in the book of Jo.
The hotel itself I think is quite beautiful, but frankly, not enough to pay $ 300 a night during peak season. They have a very quaint little bar on the lobby floor that I LOVE. Very old school and what a lobby bar should be like (even if the drinks are $ 13 a pop). The rooms are just okay. Nothing to write home about but spacious and clean, which is just fine for me as I’m not super picky. If you get lucky you get a nice view of the grounds and golf course, which are quite nice. Lots of greenery all around which is great if you have a pet (pets are allowed as long as they’re small and you can shell out the $ 100 pet deposit).
The reason why I am giving this place three stars and not the four it deserves, is because of the blatant lack of customer service. I hate to say it, but I’ve been greeted by nicer people at a Days Inn while on the road for a night or two. I called various times in advance to say I was bringing a dog and if there was anything (other than the fee) I needed to know in advance. I was told I did not need anything (not even rabies shots records which I found weird) because I would have to sign a waiver. Upon signing said waiver, I was informed that the dog could not be left unattended at all.
EXCUSE ME? «We would not want for the dog to start barking and disturb other guests,» was the attendant’s reply. And I can appreciate that, trust me, I can. But it’s pretty evident this is something I should’ve been informed of AHEAD OF TIME. For $ 100 a night I could’ve boarded my dog at the Ritz Carlton and my boyfriend and I could’ve had a chance to enjoy the city. There went our dinner plans or anything else we had in mind (it was my birthday, by the way). We tried to find places to board him but of course on such short notice it was impossible.
We snuck out for about an hour for a quick bite and a drink at the bar. I will also confess with no shame whatsoever that we left for breakfast the next morning for a whopping 40 minutes at the hotel’s restaurant and left our dog in the bathroom sleeping on his bed. The food was subpar and the service HORRIFIC. I must’ve shouted at the waitress to please bring us our bill a couple of times after ineffectively trying to flag her down and still she did not come to our table. I can only assume the lady was deaf, in which case, I’m sorry about that. I am still wondering why on earth I left her a 20% tip. Upon leaving, the lady at the front desk looked like she’d rather be at the dentist than say good morning to me, and replied with a faint grunt when I picked up my hotel folio and wished her happy holidays.
All in all, we made the best of it, but I think it’s only right that a patron should be informed of the rules before going through the trouble of bringing their pet to an unknown place. To me, it simply felt like they wanted to get the $ 100 non-​refundable deposit and could care less what I did with my dog after that, seeing they were not liable once I signed the waiver.
I still think this is a beautiful hotel, and no doubt I still would consider coming back, but I have to be honest that I was not pleased whatsoever with this last stay. Also, we spent a good $ 150 on room service seeing we were bound to our room with our dog on our mini vacation before Christmas. Catastrophic, to say the least.

After spending 4 nights at the Embassy Suites in Orlando, we wanted to slow things down and get Mickey and friends out of our minds by staying at the Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort and Spa. We stayed at Westin Hotels in the past. We knew what the Westin could offer from our previous stays.
We stayed for 2 nights on Father’s Day weekend. We arrived on a Saturday at about 4 PM. The hotel seemed busy with check ins and also preparations for a wedding. It took them three tries to get our room correct. The first time, the put me in a room next to an elevator With elevators making strange noises at night, I always have difficulty sleeping. So, I asked for a different room. The second room was okay, but, the ghosts of Savannah put a shower cap in the toilet. When my wife saw it, she freaked out and requested a room that was clean. The third time was a charm. They gave us a room, exactly as requested.
The room was nice with 2 queen beds. It had a nice view of the Savannah River. Everything in the room was perfectly clean, just like what the wife likes. The only thing thing about the room that my wife didn’t like was the televion station choices. She did not get to watch her favorite TV station, HGTV. She didn’t get to dream of what to do next for our house.
The Westin is full of activities, after all, they are a Golf resort. If you don’t golf, they do have a swimming pool with lap swimming hours in the morning. Unfortunately, I was on vacation, and had no intentions of using their pool. The landing for the Ferry is right out the back door. The Ferry is free and will take you across the river to River Street. Unlike other Westin Hotels, they do not have a Kid’s Club at this Westin. Last year, my daughter was able to go on a Scavenger Hunt at the Westin Kierland. We visited the Hitlon Head Westin. They did offer a Kid’s Club.
About the only complaint that my wife had was the staff was not friendly enough. They did their job, and that was it. They didn’t really say «Hi», when you pass by them.
Overall, it is a decent Westin property with nice clean quite room, unless it next to an elevator, or if a ghost throws a shower cap in the toilet. It was a lot nicer than the Emabssy Suites in Orlando. Overall, 3 ½ stars, which isn’t bad. But, I have experienced better Westin properties.

We stayed here for two nights the first weekend in March, thanks to a last minute bid since we had to attend a funeral. Having never been to Savannah before, we had no idea what to expect, and at first were not overly happy about finding ourselves across the river from the historic area. After arriving, however, we were immediately enthralled.
Driving up to this resort is very impressive and surprisingly just 12 miles off of I-​95. Check-​in was a short wait (lots of people with well-​behaved dogs in the lobby… must be a very dog-​friendly hotel). No king rooms were available, so we trotted off to our double bed room and found it to be nice. Note to previous reviewers who didn’t notice the fridge in the room. We had one (see pic)…which is where his and hers bottles landed (bourbon for him, wine for her).
They give you a brochure with the ferry schedule when you check in, which makes it so easy (and quick) to catch the «free» ferry. (Okay, so you pay $ 22.47 per day for a resort charge… we’ve had to do resort charges before where a ferry wasn’t included, just sayin’) AND it covers parking & internet. Internet which worked for Husband but not for me. Feel pretty confident it was operator error as a result.
The ferry was way better than expected. Covered. Big. Quick and efficient. And since they give you a schedule of when and where it will be, if you spend a lot of time waiting for it, it’s because you didn’t plan accordingly. We DID and it was GREAT!
When we came back to the hotel after dinner in the historic area on that Friday night we were greeted with FIREWORKS. How awesome is that? And apparently a first Friday thing. The hotel was also doing an oyster roast party with a live band. The only minor disappointment to our Friday night was that the Bourbon & Chocolate Lounge that we had looked forward to trying was PACKED. No room for us to sidle in and try it.
Lesson finally learned after several recent hotels with more than one bed in them. The bed closest to the bathroom SUCKS. Use the other bed. This lesson finally sunk into our teeny tiny pea brains on this trip (but only after an extremely uncomfortable first night). Second night, switched beds, much better.
Also had a pleasant breakfast in Aqua (see that review). And I posted a review of the Bourbon & Chocolate Bar that we spent a few (cough) bucks in on Saturday night.
Overall, we loved this resort. It’s beautiful, friendly, and the location is perfect for getting in and out of town without having to mess with city streets.
