The quality of the merchandise is very poor and you need DIY skills to repair their items.
But worse is the exchange policy. «Pamela» working at the store 6÷20÷16 pm informed me that there is no exchange policy. Instead you need to return and repurchase, even if an identical item (which I had last night). This seems like a lot of extra work for credit card companies and certainly is for me as well.
Many times we shop there only because of a 10% off online coupon. Returning and re-​buying would require 2 coupons, so that negates the entire effect. Long lines and poor customer service all equate to a poor experience.
Other stores have the same or better quality at the same or better prices. Skip @ Home, you can do better elsewhere.

There is a TON of stuff to look at so allow yourself time. It can be messy in some areas where people just throw things back on any shelf. Rug section is very hard to look through for example. The prices are good on most things and if you sign up to get emails they send coupons quite often. It certainly isn’t anything fancy on the inside but if you are looking for inexpensive home décor items this is the place.

Omg… the only reason I knew about this store is because I visited my cousin in Texas and she took me there since she bought tons of items for her new place there. The store I went to with her was huge, but clean and orderly, with customer service associates around to help. In contrast, the Schaumburg At Home was an absolute wreck! Looked like a tornado went through the store. There were also no customer service associates in sight. While we were there, a woman walked past us in desperation saying «have you seen a sales person… I’ve been looking for 20 minutes!» The store is huge, but so disorderly, it’s hard to find what you seek.

My husband and I stopped in to kill some time before a Unilocal Event and we found some good stuff for the home! Some things are reasonably priced, some not so much. None of it is good quality, but still a little pricey for what it is. I don’t know what kind of store they’re going for, but it seems like it’s trying to be something in between. We did end up buying a large canvas print for $ 15, and a giraffe statue for $ 15 that we are going to paint silver (to match the rest of our animals). The statue was cracked in the leg, but they didn’t offer anything off. We took it anyway, because it’s going to be painted and the crack won’t be visible. To kill time, and to find cheap items for decorating the home, this is one of the places to look.

I love this place. I’ve been going there for a couple years now and they have everything at decent prices!

I walked in the store, feeling good about the huge selection. however, that quick first impression, wore off instantly. the prices are sky high and I don’t know why. it’s a warehouse, not a boutique shop. there’s just no value here for me. this place oozes rip-​off. I can find less expensive, comparable stuff anywhere else. another reviewer compared the prices to pier 1 and I agree! at least their prices might be a little more justified, and I stress the word might… however, I don’t know where garden ridge/​at home, gets off charging these prices. I’m not sure what they’re trying to be here, but they need to figure that out and then price accordingly… because, as a whole, I have found better prices for the exact same things, at just about everywhere else. so disappointed, because I thought I’d be paying warehouse prices and get some good deals here, but I searched for many different items, and found none.

Talk about a hot mess!
No, no, no, not me… I’m talking about Garden Ridge of Schaumburg. Woof!
I walked in and the vast disorganization had me overwhelmed in an instance. The tables of books looked as if a storm of children had rampaged through. The maze of aisles upon aisles (of basically crap) had me begging to find the exit sign.
Garden Ridge is kind of like a Tuesday Morning on a crack binge. It ain’t pretty.
Now, if you’re down to sift through the overwhelming amounts of junk to find some decent candles, picture frames, or garden gnomes… because, well who doesn’t need more garden gnomes in their lives… then you may enjoy yourself here. I, myself, love bargain pricing and finding steals, but Garden Ridge just makes it too overwhelming for me.
They are currently either going for a name change, or being taken over, most likely because I’m not sure how much business they actually get. I may of seen two total employees while I was in and two total customers. Maybe it’s more busy on the weekends. After the changes are complete, I’ll have to stop in and see if there are any improvements at Garden Ridge, or what they are now going to be calling, «at home».

Very nice place! I was actually surprised as I thought this was a garden store but did not realize they had all of the items they did. I must say that if you are decoration your house or want items for your lawn and garden make this your first stop. They have aisles upon aisles of decorations. While I am sure that some of the items are not the best quality, some if the items don’t need to be. I must say I was a bit overwhelmed with all of my choices but love all the options. We will be back soon to get our decorations for Christmas. I like this place!

Went here for the first time today and was not disappointed! Yeah, some of the stuff was cheap looking. But they had a lot of décor and stuff was decently priced. We didn’t see everything in the store; but walked around the outside aisle. So much stuff, pretty neat place.

I really like this store. The quality of the items is about average– there’s hit and miss, some stuff is nicer than other. There is a lot of things for the patio/​garden. But my favorite sections are the rugs, lamps, wall art and small furniture. I went on lunch and filled my car with a 5×7 area rug and 2 really nice basket organizers for my laundry room closet for under $ 300. I need to go back for some lamps. The clothing IS weird (what’s with all the scrubs??) and there are far too many googly eyed garden critters. Lots of holiday décor too– but a little glittery/​gaudy for my taste.
TONS of patio cushions and pretty pots. Lots of rugs to choose from, but they are hard to sort through (all laying flat/​stacked). The quality of the rugs is just so-​so, but very cute designs. Most things are reasonably priced, but I did see some items that were too high for this type of store.

this place got all kinds of craps that you really don’t need… from potato chips to furniture… having said that, i always end up buying craps i don’t need… this place is like HOBO of home décor… on the serious side, watch your children since they have lots of decors made of metals, most of which have very sharp edges

This is my favorite store in the world. When I lived in St. Louis I was at it all the time. When I first moved back to Chicago I was sad that I wouldn’t have this small joy anymore, but on a drive past Schaumburg I practically swooned with shopping joy upon seeing the orange sign.
This past weekend everything was 50% off. I got my man an entire new bedding set for a king size bed for $ 20. DEAL.
Plus they have furniture, and cookware and decorations, and everything you could possibly ever need to decorate your house with. I highly suggest you go and live in the store… because you’ll never want to leave. I always check the damaged section, because things can be fixed, but more importantly, things can be crafted or made more awesome.
Also: Michaels is next door. win.

Nothing short of disappointing. Do they have some nice items? yes, few and far between. The home items are on the low end of the quality spectrum, while the prices leave you thinking that this store is a rendition of Pier 1 Imports’ rejected twin!
Over paying for junk is like setting your money on fire…

Hours upon hours have been spent here looking through the shelves of cushions, furniture, home décor, rugs of all sizes, art, and seasonal decorations. They have virtually everything you could ever imagine to spruce up your pad, and at extremely reasonable prices. It’s like the Walmart of home décor, but better quality. I’ve purchased frames, wall décor, cushions and a queen anne storage bench here. And I’ve got my eye on some obnoxious inflatable Christmas decorations for next year. Best prices you can find on inflatables are here, as well as an amazing array of choices and sizes; I mean some were three stories tall, no joke. See my pic of my husband next to Frosty. HUGE. Don’t make the mistake I did and pop in after Christmas thinking you will get a great discount on those inflatables cuz they sell out early, like in November sometimes. Regardless of what you’re shopping for, plan on spending some time here. I always think I’m going to zip through, and it never happens. There’s way too much to look at, and it inspires/​overwhelms you with so much creativity.
Please send help. I’m probably buried under a stack of rugs and shopping carts. (stop)

Not worth the money for things no one else will pay for. They have a horrible return policy and all I wanted was an exchange as the patio cushions I purchased for $ 29.99 each were too big for my patio chairs. I spent over $ 200 here for Halloween decorations and the patio cushions and I should have went to another home store like Home Goods. I will never spend anymore money here and you shouldn’t either.

This store is cute. The prices on some things are unbelievable and other things just ok. I bought my porch swing here, and we bought a table and patio umbrella while we were there too… very easy to make impulse purchases there.
I’m really not sure why this is, but if you’re looking for scrubs they’ve got tons (maybe they think people garden in them? that’s the only reason I could think of). Very unique selection of art as well.

Holy cow, this store is amazing. I am curious how I haven’t heard of this place earlier. They have been at this location for 2 years!!!
This place has everything you could possibly imagine or dream to buy for your house. It is definitely a sensory overload type of place. There are aisles upon aisles of goodies. The left hand side of the store has decorative items like glass jars, wall hangings, wall art, candles, decorative boxes, small/​decorative furniture, frames, books, area rugs and welcome mats. The back of the store had bedding sets, fake plants, kitchen ware, cleaning items, drawer organizers… omg this place is huge!!! There is furniture, bar stools, patio sets, umbrellas for patios, outdoor pots, indoor pots, garden stuff, seasonal items… where do they get all of this stuff? This store used to be a Home Depot if that gives you any idea of the sheer magnitude of the store itself. All of the aisles were super organized too, everything had a place and everything was in its place.
Like others have said, some of the quality is hit or miss but that is the case at a lot of places that you go. Their decorative items were nice quality. They also had many items that I have seen at Container Store… same brand and everything. This store reminds me of a Hobby Lobby minus the Hobby. The prices were pretty reasonable as well. I ended up purchasing a ceramic pot, a towel hook (one that hooks onto a cabinet or drawer) for the kitchen and a box of Mrs. Fields cookies all under $ 20.
Others have commented on their return policy. They do clearly state their return policy on the receipt and the cashier also reminds you that they only accept items with original tags. As I walked around, I kept the return policy in the back of my mind which helped. I could have bought a ton of impulse buys but I kept myself in check. I also looked over the things that I did buy to ensure they weren’t defective, broken or missing pieces. Just a side note, I didn’t really see any items that were on the shelves that looked broken or defective. It was apparent that they go through their inventory and weed out any defects.
My only complaint… no advertising. Like I said earlier, this place has been in Schaumburg for 2 years and I just heard about it yesterday. How is that even possible? I am not living under a rock so something must give. I’ve never come across an ad for this place and it doesn’t look like they have a huge presence on social networking sites. I was there late Monday night and I think there were maybe 5 people total in the store. I’m curious to see how much traffic they get on the weekends. I would really hate for this store to go out of business because of lack of advertising.

Garden Ridge felt a little like an afterthought. I wouldn’t have gotten into the car and said «Let’s go to Garden Ridge!» because I didn’t know anything about it. No advertisement that I have seen. Nothing outside the store that gives you a feel about what you are going to find inside the store. I think they need a marketing team.
Anyhow, on the Monday after Christmas we were at the neighboring Costco (our planned destination store) and after completing that visit, we wandered into Garden Ridge. There was a 50% off Christmas sale! Yippee!!!
Here’s the honest truth… we never made it out of the Christmas Department. We wandered up and down those aisles for over an hour. There were some great deals to be had. And then, like magic, I thought we had struck gold!
My sister is getting married in November 2012 and we came across an item that I thought would work as part of the guest favor/​table card, marker thingy. I won’t say too much about them except that they were Christmasy. My sister is not incorporating a Christmas theme into the wedding but it was too good to pass up. After discussion, photos, maternal input, counting and packing up into a cart all that they had we headed toward the register. Here’s my issue… ready?
Even with a receipt, you don’t get the price that you paid back if you return the items… even if it’s tomorrow if they are now selling the items for less and they must have the tags on them. The problems were that she was not 100% sold on using these items and not all of them even had a tag attached. What’s a girl to do? More phone calls and a full cart pushed to the side, we didn’t buy the Christmasy items for fear of their return policy. I understand that they don’t want to be stuck with this stuff at St. Patrick’s Day, but be reasonable. How about 10 days to return on Christmas merchandise and how about posting this on the front door with the rest of your return policy. It wasn’t there… I checked. Kinda frustrated. Sorry for the employee that had to put them all back. We will try them again but with more knowledge in our tool kit before we waste so much time again.

This place has a huge selection of items, but some items are of better quality than others. If you’re looking for storage (baskets, organizers) – this is, hands down, the place to go. It’s a good place for large basic picture frames & for dining tables/​chairs/​stools & for large, inexpensive rugs.
The areas that need improvement would be their curtains (limited selection) & their art/​wall hangings (not an especially good deal – price too high for a place like this). They have nice seasonal items at good prices.
Overall this is a fun place to go if you have time to browse. I like that the prices are low & they have a big selection. Some items are of better quality than others and some of the prices are more than they should be on certain items. You can get many of the same items, of better quality, at a better price at places like Costco (but the selection at Gardenridge is much larger).
I never have to wait very long in line, so that’s a definite plus.

I’ve been here about 3 times already and each time I’ve spent hours browsing. If your doing a lot of decorating this is a great place to start, great prices!
