Saks Off 5th

From the past reviews, it seems like this may have been a cool spot to visit in the past. However, they’re in the process of closing now so it’s less than stellar. I, personally, don’t even consider it worth a visit. I walked out empty handed.
The racks are smushed together in the middle of the store. From what I could tell, there was no rhyme or reason on the racks. I didn’t feel like digging to find a bargain, but I’m sure there were deals to be had for the persistent types out there.
There were a few employees restocking racks, but no one addressed me for the 15 – 20 minutes I was in the store.

Store is closing! All merchandise is moved to center aisles on racks, and walls have been stripped bare. Nothing is left. There are no more employees, no jewelry, shoes, or even toilet paper in bathrooms.

Jen and Theodora are both incredibly helpful and understanding — Theodora helped me with a jacket without pants and she was able to discount it for me — I am super happy and incredibly grateful. Jen is wonderful too for her customer service — love this place !

I was really surprised at how crappy this SOF is — I mean, the one we have in MKE is 100x better which is honestly a pretty sad statement.
First, it’s not an appealing place to shop. It’s dim, kind of dingy feeling and the service is non existent.
Second, the quality and quantity of merchandise is really lacking. There was a mall «designer» area with some Escada and YSL but there were a lot of empty shelves and half empty racks. The womens shoe department is pathetic — maybe two dozen pairs of size 9 shoes, total.
I’m wondering if this location gets the short shrift because there’s a nearby SOF at the Fashion Outlet Mall? Regardless, it’s pretty bad — I mean, who the hell is going to buy a sweatshirt with a kitten eating a watermelon slice on the front for…$ 80???
Just no.

Sent back Items on December1 and I still don’t have my refund on Jan 9. That is way too long to hold my money. They take your money at the moment you place an order but they take weeks and weeks to give it back? All the customer service person could say is «yeah It takes a long time» And even said «I wouldn’t order from here if I were you» I would never place an order with them again based on this alone. Other sites refund you at the exact moment UPS scans the label for pickup. I don’t get it…

I personally prefer this one to the Nordstrom Rack in the same shopping center. It is organized and brands are a little more up-​scaled.

The only department outlet store opened in this mall on Easter Sunday so I was expecting more people but instead, it was easily navigable.
That said, children’s merchandise was lacking and there wasn’t a great selection of items to choose from. Clearance section looked like a mess but if you are willing to do the work, I’m sure you’ll find something great.

Okay prices, but I usually find the same item at cheaper prices at Nordstrom Rack. Less selection too. I rarely buy something from here. I wish that they had a better selection of designer purses.

Definitely worth a visit but you need to hold out for when they have their best sale prices. Not as big a selection as Nordstrom Rack but it’s more of a retail experience here vs a discount store type experience at NR.

Seek a shopportunity? Get yourself to Off 5^th. From 7 For All Mankind to Dolce & Gabbana, this place is a mecca for designer duds. And while I’d like to say you can score said items at a fraction of the price, that’s only the case if you find gold in the clearance rack. Otherwise expect to pay discounted prices overall. i.e. 25−40% off retail
I typically visit said location for the following: designer denim or formal dresses. I truly don’t waste too much time in the accessories department as I haven’t found any great deals on handbags or shoes. But do be sure to hit up the clearance area near the back right side… you may just find a total steal or two.
Oh, and once in a while they have FunkyChunky near the checkout. It’s not really discounted but it’s so damn delicious it doesn’t matter.

Great selection of suits and occasionally the having amazing deals, such as a BOGO on Hugo Boss or Valentino suits. Nice collection of sunglasses as well, way below retail price.

So hit or miss it almost hurts. I think it’s best to visit when they have their designer event. Although I stopped there tonight and it was a big disappoint. Rack after rack of boring. I have gotten some amazing pieces here in the past and haven’t given up.
The shoes have been a non-​stop disappointment. Can’t say the bags have been any better.
There are some really good home products, hair products, and perfumes. Watch prices because some things are a good deal and some are not necessarily so.
They do have a program that is worth signing up for that you get extra money off purchases and you can save an even prettier penny on an even prettier frock.

As a man, whenever I walk into a clothing store, I know my options are limited compared to those folks with the other set of chromosomes. That being said, I expect even less when I walk into an outlet in terms of selection. My expectations aren’t unrealistically high.
That being said, I feel that Saks Off 5^th has only minimal selection and prices that make it worthwhile for the male customer. I found a few shirts there that fit, but were only 15% off the original retail price. Hardly an outlet «steal». If you like high-​end labels, there’s no harm in checking out this store, but don’t expect huge discounts or a large variety to pick and choose from.

I have never been to Saks off 5^th till this past month. Why… Beats me! I wish I would have sooner! I specifically only came here to find my boyfriend a watch for Christmas. And Bam! I got a nice D&G watch for a great price you wouldn’t find anywhere else. I browsed quickly thought the store but told myself I was only there to buy a watch. The store is very clean and organized. Always seems to have an extra % off on everything. Now that I know about this store it could be dangerous! :p

Off 5^th is fantastic… As other reviewers have said there is nothing outlet-​like about this store. Merchandise is pretty well organized and most items are from the current season. I am always a fan of their clearance section which is pretty robust. Lots of great bargains! Their shoe selection leaves a bit to be desired but I have found several pairs there over the years.
The only thing they could do is step up the staff and have at least a couple people roaming the floor. I have had to wait on several occasions to have handbags unlocked or the jewelry case unlocked to view items.

I really can’t emphasize enough how awesome this store is. Some of my favorite purchases in the past six months:
*A cropped wool Theory jacket for $ 50, originally $ 495.
*A white silk Chetta B blouse with bows at the wrists for $ 30, originally $ 300.
*A blue and orange long-​sleeve mini dress by Milly (one of my fave designers) for $ 100, originally $ 350.
*A flowy mini dress by Parker (another favorite) for $ 75, originally $ 275.
*Tory Burch brown suede ankle boots for $ 100, originally $ 400.
*Two tops by Joie for $ 25 each, originally $ 275 each.
*A few pairs of Joe’s Jeans and 7 for All Mankind for $ 90 – 100 each, normally $ 250 – 300.
And that’s just what I remember off the top of my head.
This place is awesome if you know your designers and know what you like. If you’re in Schaumburg even for an afternoon, it’s a must-​visit.

Nothing about this store screams «outlet». It’s organized, with nice fixtures and great product, priced at «I could afford that.»
There are no giveaways here, so don’t be alarmed when you can’t find the $ 1.99 section.
What you will find are cashmere scarves in a million colors for $ 20, Michael Kors bags marked down to the $ 200 range, Saks branded glassware and knick-​nacks for $ 20-​$ 30 and so on.
The service here is noteworthy. I found a few things I liked in the accessory department, but they were not marked with a price or a sku. The woman that took care of us at the counter was patient, and efficent in finding a price. She even told me how much everything was before adding it to my bill.
I will be back to see what treasures get cycled in!

I have a friend, we’ll call her «E.» Many-​a-​times when I see E, we’ll have a conversation that goes like so:
Me: Cute shoes, where’d you get them?
E: Off 5^th.
Me: Omg E! I love your top; where’s it from?
E: Off 5^th.
Me: Pretty dress. Off 5^th?
E: Yup
Me: Go figure.
So I decided to venture out to the faraway land called Schaumburg to see for myself about this so-​called Off 5^th. I went into the store excited to see what treasures I was about to find. I came out with empty hands and crushed dreams. I don’t know if I set my standards to high, because to be honest I was expecting Saks to woo me like they do at their main store, or if I just happened to go on a bad day. I didn’t see anything I liked! Ok well I lied, there was this one dress that had potential but it only came in a size L, so it doesn’t count. Aaaand ok there were a few pair of jeans I eyed from afar, but I just splurged on a pair of Sevens and Hudsons so I was not in the market for new jeans. Everything else I saw was just «meh.» I will definitely give Off 5^th the benefit of the doubt and return one day in hopes that I will find something better. Pleeeease don’t disappoint me.

I’ll try to keep this short, I got a nearly $ 1000 long black dress that was perfect for a wedding I was a bridesmaid in. It fit like a glove and was a total steal since it was marked down to $ 200. Now when I have a wedding to attend, I always make sure I drop by Saks Off 5^th.
Lately the selection has gone down and the steals are harder to come by… in fact, some of the prices here are exactly the same as the real Saks but it’s still a great stop to shop for high end items at lower prices. Plus, they have a decent sized men’s section, shoes (VERY small selection), and handbags in addition to their women’s clothing.

If you are a designer brand connoisseur, listen up! New clothes make me feel absolutely DIVINE. I can take on the world because I’m in a new pair of Michael Kors zip up grape colored leather ankle boots. Half of my closet is BCBG because it’s versatile for work and evening events. And please, don’t get me started on jeans: Sevens, Rock N Republics, Citizens, Joes, Blue Cult, Angels… mmm! However, unless you make an annual salary equal to one of Sarah Jessica Parker’s 30 second hair care commercials, you have to watch your designer wallet to make sure your new purchases don’t leave it empty!
If you want all the current designer styles for half the price, I have the answer!
First, sign up for emails from Saks Off Fifth. I hate spam and half the time put down fake email addresses to avoid it, but these emails are great! Once a week it lets you know what’s on extra sale. You don’t even have to print it off to use it, just bring your mobile and show them on your email!
Next, take your cute stylish little self and drive yourself out to Saks Off Fifth in Schaumberg. I know traffic is annoying, but saving hundreds on clothes is totally worth a half hour of annoyance on the road… I swear.
Everything at this store is THIS season. It’s not like many others where styles for 16 years ago are discounted (hello almost vintage), it is this season. Hate to tell you, but check out the BCBG on Damen and Wabansia, and whatever you find there even with their sales will be half off that in the burbs.
If you make the trek, I’d suggest making a day of it and also checking out Nordstrom Rack. So serious, you will save tons of money on the exact same clothes! Don’t be that girl that has designers for mills when you could have designers for half that. Happy designer hunting… and it’s impossible to leave without a new pair of jeans regardless of your shape or style, so best of luck!
Only reason its not 5 stars is because you have to deal with traffic!!! :)
