The Pied Piper Exterminators

I must admit that I wasn’t thrilled with how much the first guy that came out talked, but he sure knew a lot about what he was doing and took care of the problem! When I called the office with some questions and concerns they sent out a manager who took a lot of time to answer all of my questions and explain everything to me. They clearly really want satisfied customers. I’m hoping that I don’t need more of their services, but if I hear rats in the walls again, they are the first people I am calling.

I have always had great service by Ped Piper in San Jose. Scheduling staff make it very easy by finding convenient times. Sal Garcia, the Field Representative for my area, is always on time, efficient, friendly, and makes recommendations that are financially reasonable. I highly recommend Pied Piper for your exterminator needs.

Guy came knocking at the door this morning. Offered special half-​off deal «because they are working in our area today». Offered to do our house for $ 75, and guarantee for 2 months. Okay, not so bad.
We signed the agreement, and then noticed that it is a RECURRING contract, for bi-​monthly service! The sales guy certainly did NOT disclose that it is a recurring contract. So we cancelled immediately. We don’t like dealing with people who are not upfront and honest about the full agreement.

I give these guys highest ratings. While I was incapacitated recovering from surgery my wife smeilled a horrible odor from under our house. A plumber and our usual exterminator told her that it was probably a DEAD RAT, but did not offer any suggestions or solutions. She called The Pied Piper and Sal Garcia showed up within 20 minutes and was very reassuring that he would handle everything. He inspected under the house, found 2 dead rats in old traps which he promptly removed. He made certain that our foundation was as «rodent proof» as possible, and suggested how to bait and re-​set the traps and how to place them in places that would be accessible and easy to manage. His visit, inspection, advice and reassurance were well worth the $ 30 service call charge. We will DEFINITELY call on him again for help with rodent and pest control… thank you very much, Sal.

I am not happy with the office at this place. I called to see about exterminating fleas in my home and the lady told me it would be $ 100.00 first visit and every visit after would be $ 75.00. She set up for the treatment and went over what i need to do prior to the tech coming out. NON OF THAT WAS THE CASE. She quoted me $ 100 when the teck said $ 220.00 she told me nothing air born just stuff for the carpets, SHE WAS NOT CORRECT. The tech Rob, was nice enough. He looked around my house and found nothing, therefor no treatment needed. I don’t know, I got the impression they didn’t want to do my small house. When i called to talk to the office about the difference in what she told me verses what the tech told me, she got mad and demand that i speak to the tech.

My Experience with Pied Pipers is great. The ones located in Salida Ca/​Modesto. They have been servicing my home for ever 23 years and their technicians always go out of their way to take care of the rodents, bugs and mosquitoes is our area. I am an owner of a 24 – 7 daycare and they have been fantastic with their spray times and green environment friendly pesticides.

Mister Chao is currently selling his house, but in 7 years of ownership, thanks to Pied Piper, Mister Chao has had 0 issues with ants, cockroaches, or vermin. Pied Piper took care of the Wasps without a problem.

I signed up for the bi-​monthly treatments over 6 months ago and have been very impressed! Everyone I have interacted with has been very professional and personable. My situation has been more complex than anticipated and they have stood by their guarantee and respond quickly to any pest problems.

The Pied Piper had to make a house call today after I discovered some sort of icky (Thank God it was just one!) bug laying eggs in my dishwasher (GROSS!). The lady on the phone was polite and extremely helpful, and scheduled me for their first available appointment, which was the very next morning. She even offered to call me if another opening became available on the day I called.
Sal came out first thing as promised, and patiently waited for my husband to return from dropping of our son to school, so as not to disturb me (I work nights). He did a thorough check both inside and out, sprayed our perimeter, applied botanical pesticides (we have pets, and he was careful both about doors/​gates, and the areas where he applied the poisons) and even pinpointed where roof rats could slip in.
Sal promptly contacted his office to schedule a follow-​up visit a week later, and assured us that he would be the one taking care of the bug issue. He left his business card, was polite, neat and clean. My dogs even liked him.
If the company follows up and shows up as promised (non-​shows being something I note some other reviewers have experienced, though not all), I’ll bump up my rating.
The prices seemed fair considering there is follow-​up. I was very satified.

These guys are good. They may not be the most perfect operator like those very expensive teams out there, but they have always been gracious and do their job.
What keeps this from being a 5 star review is early on, we had the «We showed up, but no one home» excuse, even though we were home. However, after we complained, they docked their bill and we got the service for free.
We have their service, and they come every month, and are great when we call.

Dear Byron,
Your response to my being sexually harassed by one of your technicians is non-​existent. For your information it was during business hours that the office was closed so your attempt at talking down to me insinuating that we were unable to read the stated business hours is extremely condescending. While you have good reviews from other customers I have also read bad reviews by customers.
I am not speaking to the efficiency of your company’s ability to extinguish rats, just to your ineptness in following through with a service we were told you would and your unwillingness to even address the experience of being physically handled by your technician. Is it your companies policy to leave traps at a customers house indefinitely?
Since being made aware of this horrific experience and all you can respond with is to be a cheer leader for your company and in a snide way to say to us basically «good luck with your rat problems now that we’re not servicing you», it is clear to me that we need to take this to another level. It’s sad that given the chance to stand up for what is right and attempt to be empathetic and to make amends that you instead chose to make light of and even go as far as to gloss over the main issue as though it never happened.
Good day sir and Good try. You may want to consider contacting your company’s attorney.

Beware of the salesman — and Pied Pipers scam
I have been with Clark for sometime now and was happy, but not 100% satisfied. A salesman showed up at my door from Pied Piper to offer services. I told him I was already with someone and that I was not interested. From this point on I found out Piper Piper is not a company you should do business with.
1. The salesman claimed that a bunch of neighbors had signed up and that all of the pests would be flushed inside. If I didn’t sign up they could not guarantee I would not get infested. If I did they would make sure they did our flush with the rest. The truth was none of my neighbors signed up and that it was a scare tactic in order to get me to sign up.
2. The saleman said they would call and cancel my existing service. Truth — they did not and I got double service and double billed until cancelling Pied Piper.
3. The salesman said nothing about a two year contract and I got billed for that when I cancelled.
4. The salesman said he worked for Pied Piper. Truth — he worked for a company hired by Pied Piper to get new clients. He does not and never has been an employee at Pied Piper. They use outside sales agencies to come to your house, lie to you so that you buy services.
5. When the guy came out to do the first spraying (he is a guy who you will only see once) — he confirmed the above. The guy who showed up said he did initial sprayings only and someone less experienced would be by to do the regular monthly spraying. I called and immediately cancelled my service. They continued billing me for two more cycles despite not spraying my house. Eventually I was sent to collections.
I would urge you if anyone comes to your house — DO NOT SIGN UP.

I just had my first service today and it was great. John, Branch Manager in Modesto took the time to educate me on the difference between a mud dauber wasp and the ‘bad wasps’…had no idea. All this time I was worried about the mud daubers. He also found 3 large ‘bad wasp’ nests that I had no idea were even there. As for the crawling critters I live in a new development and am coming across large wolf spiders and some unknown large tan spider, I am looking forward to no longer running across them in my garage. Thank you Pied Piper so far service is great!

Despite regular sprays every three months, we are now infested with ants. I called for service a couple of weeks ago and their guy came out and sprayed inside our house. Initially it seemed to solve the problem, and he did say that if we saw ants again the following week that we should call and he would be back to set down traps. Well, the ants are back big time! And Pied Piper has not bothered to schedule us even though I called three times!!! I am disgusted with their idea of customer service. Today is December 28^th and when I called to complain about their unresponsiveness the receptionist said I could have someone on January 3^rd… uh, I don’t think so.

I’ve had nothing but concerns since signing up for bi-​monthly service.
My service started in May. I had the initial spray and things went well. My next spray would be in July. July came and went and I called customer service in August to check in. The customer service rep. said they were behind and that they’ll send someone out right away. My next service was due in September. Today is Sept. 28^th, and I haven’t seen anyone come out yet. I called customer service and was told they are behind, but they don’t have me on the schedule for the weekend. I scheduled a spray for Monday, which puts me into Oct. I’m seeing a trend.
The customer service rep. also tells me that I have an outstanding balance… I tell her that can’t be because I signed up for autopay. She checks my contract and tells me that it wasn’t checked off so the credit card on the contract was only billed once.
Honestly, I wish I could get out of my contract. I feel that I have to baby sit this service. It’s a good thing I work from home to notice no one coming by, or I feel I wouldn’t have known if I received any service for these two months.
I’d like to see them redeam themselves, but at this moment my hopes are low.

I have had The Pied piper for over 20 years, and they have always been very responsive. I live in the Alum Rock foothills, and I have had cockroaches and roof rats, and they did everything to get rid of them, sometimes coming out several days in a row. They always tell me what is going on, offer alternatives to resolving prob;ems, and really try to accommodate my schedule.

I recently had one uninvited guest show up in my kitchen and needed an exterminator. I called, they came, their prices are very reasonable, and I haven’t seen any critters since.

We have a monthly service to have the house sprayed on the outside. They are not willing to work with you, never let you know when they spray your house, for all I know they never do. They give 4 hour windows for inside spraying and expect you to have everything ready for them including your pets. So am I to leave my cats loved in a cage for the 4 hour window and then 4 hours more because I can’t renter my home. I have had not a lot of good service, they should work more with the clients better.

Watch out for the contract these people use. The exterminator who initially came out told me I had a 6-​month contract. He did not say that I would be charged month-​to-​month after that. It is probably in the fine print of the contract. Also, they don’t bill you until you have racked up quite a balance; otherwise, you would be alerted to cancel the account.
I was not home for the majority of the unscheduled visits, so all they did was hang something on my door knob and charge me $ 50.
Moral of the story: be careful what you sign because this is how these businesses stay in business.
