Purchased 2 mystic tans through Groupon. Overall, the tanning was okay– there are a lot of up sells for additional costs.
My biggest problem is the customer service. Very rude and not welcoming at all. They really need to work on basic customer service skills, a smile would’ve been nice. Questions seem to annoy the front desk girls and they were very snobby and cold. They would let the phone ring and not answer it, this explains why I had to call a few times for someone to answer to get an appointment. I will not be returning because of this.

I found this place on groupon as it’s close to my home and across from my gym. I stopped in to check it out before I accidentally bought two different groupon certificates. The beds are smaller and less advanced than I’m use to but I was going to give it a try out of convenience. When I stopped in before buying the groupons, the desk staff acted like a bunch of snobs. Seriously? I thought I’d try anyway. When I explained my two different emails and bought two groupons (can only use one) the manager said she’d put it towards whatever I bought after my month was up. I travel for work so do not keep track of date/​days. I made an appt and went in for appt. the girl at the desk ‘couldn’t find me in the system at first. When she did, she said my pkg expired the day before. I expressed I was going to be buying another with the credit plus whatever else the cost would’ve been anyway. She said she had no notes/​record and I could come back later to tan. I said you’re not going to let me tan now? She said no. I said, ok I will NOT be back. EVER. And I will tell everyone I know not to use the snob salon. I even asked one of the local businesses in same strip what was up with the attitude with everyone in that place??? She agreed and said it wasn’t the first time she’s heard that. Well, apparently this SNOB SPA has enough clients to not please new ones. I will NEVER use them or recommend them to anyone. I went to a former salon I’ve used in the past and they were beyond helpful, and provide a better service/​product anyway. ! Reminds me of the movie Pretty Woman. BIG MISTAKE. BIG… (ps I got into my luxury vehicle and drove away to another salon. LMAO)

I am by no means at all a person who complains unless necessary. I bought a living social for two spray tans… which is also out of the norm for me but thought it was worth a shot.
Upon arrival both the brunette and red haired employee seemed to be cold and unaware of the offer on living social. Not a big deal… But a smile goes a long way in customer service.
I requested a dark mystic tan and was informed that dark is an extra $ 8.00. FINE but that was not stated in the living social… I’m no broke ho and if you’re business needs $ 8.00 I got ya!
I was hoping for a nice bronzed color and am against UV tanning so I have had many mystic tans in my life.
Well guess what. I’m barely tan at all!
Pale and pissed. Hope you invest those 8 dollars in better business ethics

I stumbled onto this place accidentally while I was in town. I don’t normally tan, but this year I was in the hospital twice so I didn’t get out much. Because of this and some stress, I started breaking out with some acne on my chest. UV rays are the only thing that has every cleared up my skin. I spoke with Tabea and another woman (please forgive me — her name is slipping my mind right now) and they were both sweet, helpful, and understanding. They gave me an amazing deal on a one month package and my skin has significantly cleared up after just my first treatment. I’m going in for my second treatment today.
The location itself is immaculately clean and the beds are top of the line.
This location exceeded my military level standard of expectations and because of this I plan on driving from my home in Chandler twice a week to finish out my package.
I saw an older review of a customer receiving the stereotypical «snooty» Scottsdale attitude here and I have to say that was NOT my experience at all. Since I am not a regular tanner, I’m unaware of how these places usually are but these women were friendly and professional from the moment I walked through the door and they need to be recognized for that. Thank you so much! You both are rockstars!

I really liked the staff every time I came in and was impressed by the variety of services and products. I couldn’t get the right tan and often couldn’t get the service I wanted when I arrived. Who always knows when they will need/​want a massage or feel like a sauna? Try to make appointments when possible.
The most disappointing thing for me, though was how I just got taken on the monthly plan. They sold it to me very explicitly (verbally anyhow) that I only was obligated to pay for 5 months then could cancel if I didn’t want to continue with the monthly plan. I would have been happy to come in for a sauna here or there but now they are saying I have to pay another 2 months per my contract. Granted, I was excited to get going with the services and did initial and sign, but they knew exactly what they were doing. I don’t tolerate deceptive business practices. I have asked about it the last couple of months and have been given the same response. Just wait until August and you can cancel. Today is August 1 and I was ready to be done with these payments. Time for a BBB report. Use caution when signing up for a monthly plan and don’t be fooled by sweet, bubbly personalities and «I’m going to go out on a limb with this deal for you,» sales tactics.

I love this place! Unlimited spa services including facials tanning and massage for $ 59 a month! I’ve only had one girl be a little rude and it was when I wanted to come in around 8pm and they close at 9. I was done before then so it was a little upsetting to get an unfriendly response when you’d think they would be there until at least 9pm anyways. Other than that great nice employees, clean place, plus robes, washcloths, and towels available for use which is a nice touch! Definitely recommend this place to anyone in north Scottsdale! :)

I thought this would be a great deal for me and my girlfriend. Some staff members are rude. Roll their eyes if you ask a question, and they talk about other customers after they walk out.
We purchased a few recommended products, and stared with a groupon. We weren’t sure if we wanted to buy a membership, and then it seems like we got black listed at this place.
Couldn’t make appointments for 2 services back to back. Or we would show up for an appointment and they double booked. This happened several times before we just gave up trying.
It’s a shame, nice location, great products and services offered, but if you don’t buy a 100 $ per month membership, you might have the same issues we had.
Also. My girlfriend showed up for her scheduled appointment and was told «she didn’t make and appointment». As she waited for the bed to be available, she was surprised to see a planet beach employee walk out of the bed…

Planet Beach is a great place to relax, unwind, anti age & heal. I do not use tanning services. I love this place. It is always super clean & well maintained. The staff are all super friendly & very knowable about all of the equipment & services.
I use the hydration station followed by the hydro massage. Then the full body red light therapy which has helped my joints become pain free! Then on to the red light facial. I have noticed much better facial tone with decreased wrinkles & fine lines.
I go three times a week & my health has really improved from the side effects from Valley Fever.
I am an RN of over 35 years & totally recommend this place for the therapeutic effects.
The price is amazingly reasonable & so worth it.
A great place to go for wonderful services, great staff & good prices.

Let me start by saying that all of the girls in their staff are amazingly friendly and helpful. They do everything for you, just show up and let them know what service would you like… Massage? Facial? Steam? Spray tanning? You can do it all in one day!!! And you can go everyday!!! All these services helped me clean my body from toxins throughout spring before I could go and show off my body! Thank you planet beach!

Ok, so I’ve been coming here for about 2 weeks or so now. One thing I’ve learned is that there is only one person who actually knows how to do their job. The rest either have a base knowledge of the equipment or just know how to push buttons. After a week, you should be able to operate the machines on your own and I do not have anything bad to say about their functioning properly. This place can be pretty pricey though.
Oh, and do not be surprised if you come in and the appointment you set the day before is gone. This is a frequent occurence here.

I went here to try a new salon and they were very rude when i first walked in like, I was wasting there time, I just wanted to know about there tanning prices and they kept trying to up sell me on there other products even though i kept telling them no thank you, finally when i got a tanning bed they asked how long i wanted to go for, i said the full time and the lady tells me i should do less time because I’m a red head, I told her that i have been tanning for years now that I’m fine with the full time, she still gave me a hard time saying i should do less, finally i was like whatever and did less time. The only reason I give them two stars is because there beds are really nice and i got good color from them, but it was not worth the hassle for me to want to go back.

A clean tanning location at a reasonable price?!? Hoo-​ray! Planet Beach is a win on all levels. There is much more than just great tanning beds, there are other services like the hydration station which is great for moisturizing skin during the dry winter months. Also, there are aqua massage machines. and a really friendly staff. Go in and they will let you try any service free (even mist on tanning)… that is how they got me hooked. Every time I walk in I am greeted with a smile from the staff, they are great, and I love going each week. If you’re looking for a great place to get some tan on, this is the one!

Cool thing about this place — you can try any 3 treatments for free here before you have to buy anything! Unfortunately… this is a habit you won’t want to break! While it is a primarily a tanning salon, the manager and staff (all über friendly and chill) are moving towards making it more of a day spa.
I’ve tried the Mystic Tan (UV-​free spray tan) with the hydration chamber prior, as well as the water massage bed, and the massage chair.
The massage chair is this amazing Japanese invention, and I must say, rivals the Brookstone chairs at the mall. The massage chair is coupled with a light therapy facial thing, and is worth trying for the massage alone.
For the Mystic, I was mostly happy with my results, although one small portion of my hand was for some reason VERY orange, and I didn’t enjoy smelling like artificial tanner for a week. The tan lasted for almost 2 ½ weeks, and looked MUCH better 3 days after the initial spray. I’d recommend exfoliating and shaving the day before tanning, as I hadn’t, and ended up with a strange fading tan.
Overall, a cool place, definitely worth a few (free!) tries.
