Would have given four stars, but our waitress, Liana, ignored us for a good 15 minutes before taking our drinks and then ignoring us again. When the table next to us, who sat down after us, got their food before we ordered we flagged her down. A now annoyed Liana gave us nothing but attitude until we left.

I really like the food here, but they always seem to rush you out by bringing the check after you have taken just one bite of your food. This happens every time we come. Today our server never brought refills or napkins we requested, another server did notice we were low on our drinks and did refill our drinks. Bringing the check soo quickly and disappearing made for a very disappointing experience.

This place is great! Very clean and open place. All the workers are super nice and friendly. I’ve had both breakfast and lunch and you can’t go wrong with either. They’re known for their eggs Benedict and their omelette’s are must. Bbq chicken salad and good Urth sandwich are my favorites for lunch. Definitely a must try!

I want to like this place so bad. I believe I used to like it back when I was in college. 10 years ago now. Every time we go now I’m disappointed in the food and service. coffee isn’t even good. I think lunch is better here, but that’s not great either. There are so many great restaurants to eat out in the area… I’d skip this one. I won’t be going back.

While in search on a place to eat I ran into this place, busted a U and parked in the lot in the back. This place is SUPER easy to find because its off the main drag on PCH right on the corner. When you see it your looking at the back patio and it looks like a really relaxing sort of place and they are open for breakfast and lunch. I parked and walked in and was greeted upon stepping on the threshold of the door. I was seated in the a little corner which was fine but then I changed my mine and wanted to sit out on the patio. It was not a problem at all. My server came over and took my drink order and then gave me some time to peruse the menu to see what I wanted. I really didn’t get passed the skillet specials menu and went with the southwestern skillet with green chilies. It also came with home potatoes, avocado on top, some sour cream and toast so I got wheat. My coffee and water came back in no time and I just sat back and enjoyed all the regulars meeting up for bfast and chatting with the staff. My bfast was ready in no time and I dove in. It was NICE and HOT like it should be. Everything was cooked to perfection and the ketchup for my home potatoes already on the table. The eggs were cooked to PERFECTION! The potatoes were SUPERYUMMY and the toast was actually toasted and not burned or under toasted so it wasn’t soft! I received a little container with jam on the side of my plate with was the prefect amount. The breakfast was SUPERFILLING and I had enough for left overs which is ALWAYS A PLUS! The service was REALLYSPOTON and friendly! No one hovered but she did come by and check on me and refill my coffee when she saw the cup was almost empty. I like when I don’t have to ask. I would come back here for bfast again. Not only that I over heard some one ordering some blueberry pancakes that I am going to have to try.

Came back for the first time in over a year. My guest had the steak salad that she said was fine but ended up boxing it up and taking it home; «I called it a little salad with her dressing.» She was also billed for a coffee that she never ordered. I had a Rueben that I wanted on non-toasted rye bread… It was actually wheat and fell apart the second I attempted to grab ahold. Completely stale. The Thousand Island on the side was MIA. The server was a good kid, brought me a side of thousand, took the extra coffee off the bill. He did comment that their rye looks like wheat? So I guess I had rye that had zero rye seeds, marbling, etc. I’d give it another year and try again but what would be the point… Great location, but outside of that, YIKES!

Great location. Welcomed when we walked in the door. The servicer was friendly when she came to the table. Once to take our drink order, once to get our food order, then brought or food then our bill. Never refilled my ice tea or ask how the food was. The bread was so dry it fell apart with the first bite of my veggie sandwich. Reminds my why I haven’t been back since it first opened. Seal Beach has many other options.

I took my 86 year old mother here for lunch today. She used to live in Seal Beach and this was one of her favorite restaurants. I should have walked out when, as we were being seated in the booth, the waiter knocked over the tray with the salt, pepper, ketchup and a few other items onto the floor. He picked them up, off the floor, and put them back on our table! But I did not want to make a scene in front of my mother. We ordered out food(a bit pricey, but I knew that going in). When the salads came out, so did the flies! I swatted at flies the rest of the meal. The waiter saw me shooing them, and just shrugged. If the flies were on my food, they are certainly in the kitchen where they are cooking the food. I will never go back, and you shouldn’t either! Very dirty!

Walked in at 2:30 on a Saturday to be told they were closing. We told them this is why we don’t come here often. Left my car in the parking lot and went down the road a little. Turned around to see the bartender stick a wad of gum in my car door. What a trash place with trash people working there.

Pretty disappointing. Had the chicken fried steak and eggs with biscuts and gravy which was just ok. Gravy was ok, but biscuit was dry and lifeless. Tried scrambled eggs with our meal which seemed like they came from a fake egg mix or perhaps there were too many egg whites to yolks in the mix. The bacon was also pretty sad. Thin pieces that seemed a little burned and lacked flavor. The coffee was very very weak and flavorless. French toast was a hit. Good texture and flavor, nice and thick and the butter was sweet, fluffy and flavorful. Syrup tasted great too. Service was good, Carrie was nice, but even after we talked to her about the issues, we never got a visit from the manager or offered any kind of remedy to the problems. Sadly the french toast and friendly server are not enough to carry the Blackboard Bistro. I’d be curious to try their benedicts or the huevos rancheros but I’d be hard pressed to give this place another chance.

We’ve been coming here for years and it’s always consistently great for breakfast, lunch and dinner. My favorite is Blackboard’s brunch. If you like sweet things, the French Toast Royal blueberry cream cheese-stuffed Texas toast is a must.

The service here is very nice! And the portions are HUGE. I got the playground special with chocolate chip pancakes, scrambled eggs, and sausage. Soooo yummy! PSA: They serve breakfast and lunch all day :)

We recently discovered this place and drive 30+ minutes just to eat breakfast here. The Eastern European server is especially sweet. Each time we have gone here we have enjoyed our meals and left very satisfied. Of course we will go back:)

The only reason I’m giving this place 4 stars and not 5 is because of their poor bloody Mary’s. They were weak and lacked flavor compared to bloody Mary’s at other restaurants I have tried. I did however really like our waitress. She was extremely friendly and didn’t leave us waiting for anything. She even wrapped mine and my girlfriends leftovers up for us in foil(instead of giving us a box) because she knew we were going to Disneyland right after. This allowed us to take our food into the park to enjoy later.

Horrendous. I don’t usually write bad reviews because I think that it’s hard for a business to stay afloat with the age of Unilocal and technology. And I think that everyone should experience something for themselves first; sometimes bad reviews are a fluke and not representative of the entire establishment. However, the owner at Blackboard Bistro on two occasions was extremely rude to me. As an owner, you should love what you do and lead by example. This man never greets anyone, let alone smiles. He is short and curt. He simply makes the dining experience disgusting. On my first visit he barked, «what do you want?» I asked for a take out order and he walked away and told someone else to help me. When I came to pay, he just took my card without confirming anything and left the receipt and pen for me to sign and he just walked away. I was appalled. But the staff was friendly and the food was decent. Upon my second visit I walked into a nearly empty restaurant and he looked at me, walked right past me to the people behind me, and went to seat them. I said, «excuse me, I was here first.» He gave me a nasty look and sneered, «to-go right?» I replied affirmatively. And he just walked away!!! This man either hates togo orders or hates his job. From the reviews of others who commented on the owner’s demeanor I would say he just hates people. Not worth the aggravation of mediocre food. Kudos to the great staff that puts up with his bs.

Over all awesome place wait wasn’t bad either we got seats immediately beat the rush I guess! On the visit we tried the sunrise skillet and the playground plate, the skillet was very flavorful. We just went for breakfast this morning. The service was amazing! We ordered water, coffee, the mexicali omelette with hash browns and wheat toast, and the grilled four cheese with fries. I don’t like breakfast, so I’m the one who opted for lunch, which was delicious, but my boyfriend did enjoy the breakfast. It seems that breakfast is what this place is really known for. He would recommend the mexicali omelette in a second.
