Send It Packing

I would have completely left this alone and continued to return to this business regardless of their customer service based on convenience alone. At this point, I’d like to further share my experience in hopes that this does not happen to anyone else. I added a photo of the insincere privately messaged «apology» from the owner. I’m sure the photo will be taken down as it isn’t in the shop’s best interest. Also, Barbara and/​or Jim have personally sought out where I work and Barbara confronted me at my place of business while I was with my guest. Her intention may have been to apologize, but this came off as unprofessional and created an uncomfortable situation for both my guest and myself. Unilocal is supposed to be a forum to review a business and I was unable to do such without being reprimanded in my own workplace. Also, I do not work in the salon by CVS. I’m not sure why this was assumed, but I don’t appreciate that much either.

I think they have great service. The older guy is funnier than can be, always laughing. I guess everybody sees something different.

To be a notary is not rocket science. Somehow the owner carelessly messed up our documents. Countless hours wasted due to his gross negligence. Need something notarized? Run from this shop!

If I could give 0 stars, I would. Worst service ever. I asked how much it was to print and the guy only said it was 15 cents per page. I spent 5 $ to print 6 copies in black and white from my usb because I had to pay 3 $ to put the usb in the computer, and 1 $ to pay with card (which would have been ok in other circumstances… but… c’mon!!!)

I will never go here again. I had a prepaid package to ship UPS and they charged me $ 1 to have them hold it until the UPS comes to pick it up. Basically he charged me $ 1 for having to get up, off the phone and toss the box into the stack of other UPS boxes I’m gathering he charged a dollar to hold. I will never stop here again and any other UPS packaging store that charges $ 1 surcharge to do what? Forget it. Rip off!

I’m sad to see the negative reviews. We’ve been coming here for years and have always found them to be helpful.
So he wants a dollar for sending an addressed ups package? I can’t imagine anyone leaving a business a negative review over a dollar.

This is weird! I’ve been using this place for about 5 years now and I can’t believe all the negative reviews! Something is wrong here. I will tell you what is wrong here. Last year, I gave a 5-​star review, and when I came back today, my review has been deleted! I also noted that a lot of other positive reviews are missing! Why does Unilocal do this?
I use this place because it is convenient. I hate going to the post office in downtown because of the lack of street parking. Of course this place charges more for postage than the post office… it’s a business! Convenience stores like 7−11s charge you more than a supermarket. Why? You pay for the convenience. It’s Business 101.
Last year when I was in the store, a guy with anger management problems came in. He wanted to ship a large package and he gave the owner an incorrect shipping number. Jim said he couldn’t ship because the number didn’t register. The customer started arguing in front of me! I was so angry because I was waiting to be served, and this jerk was monopolizing my time, as well as Jim’s! The guy called the Seal Beach Police! A cop came down, talked to each of them separately, then took the irate customer outside, and the guy left.
When you manage a store, believe me, you get all kinds of customers, including jerks. This guy was a complete jerk!!!
As for this place charging you to drop off a package, please read Jim’s explanation. They charge him for picking up, so he has to pass this cost on to his customers. Business 101.
The store depends upon their customers to stay in business. You don’t survive by providing lousy service.

I also agree with the comment made on 4÷2÷2013 !! I went into Send It Packing with a Pre-​Paid UPS package to return an article of clothing and as I went to drop it into the bin, Jim told me there would be a $ 1.00 fee. I responded, «This is a Pre-​Paid Label as the merchandiser has already paid for returns.» I was taken aback he can charge $ 1.00 so I left the store and went up the street to another stationery/​mail service store that does UPS in Huntington Harbour that not only readily took the package (and they are open until 7pm !!) but they were very courteous and asked if I would like a scanned receipt for my return. Now I know where I will be going for future services as it’s the same distance from my house in Sunset Beach.

They have great customer service. Jim and his staff are very knowledgable and helpful. This is the only place we go to get all our legal items notarized and our shredding done. I highly recommend send it packing.

After they didn’t supply all papers after requested for international shipments, the guy was rude on the phone to me like it was my fault. Then I go in to fill out the paper work and I thought he was a customer at the internet cause I waited 5 minutes at the counter (right next to him) before he got up and was like «what do you need»… Long story short, I will NEVER use this place again and I suggest you don’t as well!

Jim and his staff are Great! I have a mail box there and do all my shipping, shredding, and copying there. I think the bad reviews are bogus. Sooooo many people — true locals have used this place forever! Love Seal Beach and Send It Packing!!!

If you take your documents to these guys to shred you run the risk of the whole town knowing about your business. I was in this business and heard the owner/​manager talking about documents that he was shredding to somebody on the phone and thought it was funny to discuss somebody’s private business. Run from these people.

The service in this place all depends upon who is working the counter. The women that have waited on me have been lovely; the man who owns it is rude, doesn’t provide receipts for cash purchases, and charges for pre-​paid UPS drop offs. He says, «I’m not going to work for free for them!» Well then, don’t become a UPS Authorized Shipping Outlet. I now take all my business to the UPS store across the street. Even if I have to go to Pavilions too, the quick trip across the street is worth it.

Jim and his staff are great! He helps me [every time] I go in and always says hello. I have my box there and get most of my needs met quickly. One person has a bad experience and they plaster this company to the wall. Take time to get to know them and have patience in life. I lived in Seal for 10 years and miss the hometown people. Just imagine if Unilocal had your name on here to rate. How would «you» do? Enjoy life guys, it’s too short to complain. Jim Simington

I’m sorry to see so many negative reviews on this location. I have been coming here since Jim has bought the place and went to the TShirt and candy shop he owned prior to this. Jim is a great person. Barbara is also super nice. They are always willing to help out with whatever you need done. This is a business focused store, and not a nail salon or restaurant. They will help with what you need and give you honest opinions and answers.
It’s extrememly funny to read that someone thinks the scales are tipped… it’s illegal and if you look on the scales, there is a seal. All scales have to be certified annually.
This store is very convenient and has everything a person needs for shipping, copies, notary!
Keep up the good work Jim and Barbara!

I have had my mailbox at Send it Packing for 10 years. The service is always great and when I need special services, like dropping mail off at Christmas, I don’t have to wait in line, I have an account and my mail is always taken care of for me after i drop it off.
There is always a great selection of gifts that is so helpful when you don’t have time to shop. They will even wrap for you =)
Great service with a smile. Great products. Any problems with the copiers, they always help.

Always SO helpful! I love that I don’t have to go to the post office, and they always have everything that I need!
