Midas

While on vacation in Monterey we went to start the vehicle on Sunday and it wouldn’t start. After calling 3A and determining the vehicle needed to be towed, it was towed to Midas located at 1543 Del Monte Boulevard in Seaside, California. The Service Writer, Vincent Berry, immediately had an electrical check of the vehicle performed and determined that the starter was bad and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was checked in at 9:06 and Technician Jose G. pulled it into the service bay and immediately began work to replace the starter. While sitting in the waiting area, we heard our vehicle start up, he drove the vehicle over to the waiting area and to our surprise the starter and battery terminals were replaced. This was all accomplished by 9:54. Absolutely top-​notch service and the facility was clean and everyone was very nice. Many kudos to Vincent and Jose for their exemplary service!

The Diagnosis alone is going to cost you 120 $. I did not feel welcome with the Midas touch when a man who had bright red eyes tells me this, as well as giving off no humane reaction when I obviously didn’t like the price.
Go next door at A1 where the diagnosis is 80 $. I talked to a man named Muhammad who explained all the mechanical details with a friendly tone and smile. Free coffee and candy in the office as well.

Great customer service! They didn’t force me to buy a million extra things and were very helpful. Very nice staff and Robert was so kind and helpful!

Hour and a half for an oil change and I had an appointment… took them an hour before the oil was even drained. Only good thing was the price.

Seaside Midas was the best. The Service Manager and techs were very knowledgeable and walked me through the process and issues with my car. Highly recommend this shop.

My car battery died on a recent visit to Monterey. We went to this Midas to get a new one. Kelvin Johnson, the assistant manager, could not have been nicer or more helpful. We were in and out in 30 minutes. Doesn’t get any better than that!

We went into Midas on a Sunday with a flat tire and needed to be at the San Jose Airport within an hour. Vince and his staff were amazing. They had the tire in stock and immediately started to change the tire and process the paperwork. Within 30 minutes we had a new tire and were on the road. They couldn’t have been any better. Thanks Vince! Great experience.

I have brought my car to this Midas multiple times and they are great. Their customer service is stellar and they take good care of my car. I have dealt with both Robert and Vince and they are both friendly, knowledgeable and honest. I will continue to bring my car here for service and would recommend them to anyone.

These guys are either incompetent or dishonest, not sure which. Went in to get a suspension check, knowing there was something wrong but not sure what. They came back with an estimate of $ 1800 including the entire steering rack, shocks, ball joint and sway bar links. The steering seemed off to me so i asked to see it, it was obvious that it was not the rack but instead the tie rod. After asking a single question suddenly my quote dropped by nearly $ 700. Needless to say i was a bit wary about that so i have in and took it to the dealer for a second opinion. They confirmed the ball joints and sway bar but said it was definitely not the rack and my struts were fine. Pretty sad when a dealer estimate comes in at less than half of what these guys claimed. Needed $ 300 worth of work, not $ 1800.

Came for an oil change and to have all of my lights checked, they told me at pick up that all of the lights are working perfectly fine. However, when I checked my car, the brake light was still out. They were so adamant about their little check list being accurate and I kept telling them the check light icon in my car was still on. Nobody wanted to come out and check the car again, so I just paid for the oil change and I am def not coming back there for any other service again.

The most incompetent group of «mechanics» I have ever encountered. Have had to take my vehicle back numerous times and still they can’t seem to figure out why the brake light keeps burning out but they sure did find $ 600 worth of other problems to charge me for that I later found out from a real mechanic was absolutely false and unnecessary. They assigned me a so called store manager Robert who has an IQ of about 53. the things they try to tell you and the way they try to backpedal and the way they insult your intelligence is disgusting. my advice to you do not bring your car to Midas their mission statement compared to their actual productivity completely different this place is garbage. see you in court —

I had an excellent experience at this Midas today. I had come here for the first time, this past August 2014 to have new brakes installed (I had never before been to any Midas before last August).
I was told by a new employee/​representative at a different company that will remain unnamed, that my brake fluid was at 3% and that it would be dangerous for me to continue to drive my car unless I had my brake lines flushed of fluid and then had the fluid replaced for $ 89.00. I have had my oil changed by the same company for the past 30 years and expected to be able to trust their services. When I went back to have the service completed, I was told that they did not have the correct tool to do the job because my emergency brake was activated by a pedal instead of a button. ??? The explanation of a missing tool sounded ridiculous because many cars have an emergency brake activated via pedal.
So, I took my car to Midas where the brakes had been installed for the recommended procedure and low and behold:
The rep at Midas, Vincent, gave me a strange but respectful look when I mentioned the 3%, but also informed that that without reference meant nothing. Vincent also informed me that there was ABSOLUTELY NOTHING wrong with my brake fluid and that it looked like it was brand new. He also did not charge me for having checked. I need a new place to get my oil changed and I will be back at this Midas for the services they provide. GREAT JOB FOLKS!

I was on a trip to Monterey when my brakes were metal to metal with the rotors. They replaced all 4 brake pads and rotors. Their shuttle driver dropped/​picked us up from the Monterey Bay Aquarium while my car was being worked on!
However the brake warning light would not disappear after I came back home to San Jose. The reason being was that the front and rear brake sensors were not replaced — I was told I could get by without them.
I called back and told them they needed to be replaced, they offered the install new front and rear sensors for free. I was really impressed with the customer service of Kelvin and shuttle driver Jim.
Highly recommend these guys, great customer service!

Midas gave me terrific service at specified prices. They also did an inspection and, while they made some recommendations, they were honest about my automobile being in good working condition. I felt their business practices to be very prudent. I trust Midas and will go back for future auto care needs.

Having to replace my brake pads and transmission fluid one at a time, I needed a quick and easy place to do it and sometimes Midas didn’t have the best rep. Also working full time/​single mom, makes money and time tight. Since the beginning to end my experience with Midas was great.
I didn’t need to replace my brakes after all. Looked like whoever did them before did it backwards and bc of that I was hearing the infamous squealing sound. So, I was only charged $ 29.99 for a «brake inspection.» A lot cheaper than my original quote. And since my car was there anyways and they didn’t take advantage of the situation, I’ve decided to get my fluid flushed at a combined price lower than my original quote.
Everyone who helped me were nice, friendly and personable. The driver who took me to work and picked me up was on time, funny, and talkative. The owner even called to check up on my car and to talk about my experience I had there. All of this combined, I felt the least I could do it Unilocal a great review.

Friendly efficient and honest. I always enjoy taking my car to Midas. I used to think otherwise, I thought it was a corporate place that hired people that would screw up. Hey guess what. Anyone can screw up, corporate places like Midas can back up a guarantee and not make it feel like it’s your fault.
I came in because my car seemed to have a dead battery. They found the connection was loose and recharged my battery for me. I walked out only paying for the inspection.
Kelvin is a pleasure to speak with on the phone and in person!

Great Service & Quick Delivery
My wife & I had driven down and were visiting the Monterey, Carmel area for a Get-​Away-​Weekend and enjoyed a lovely day on Saturday taking the 17-​Mile tour. That night we went out for a lovely dinner @ Lopez Restaurante n Cantina, only to find that our Nissan Maxima wouldn’t start/​turn-​over. I immediately suspected that it was the Starter having experienced this same sound/​issue from another Maximum before. Called AAA and they towed us to MIDAS — Seaside, CA on Del Monte Blvd.
Early the next morning (8:00am) I called Midas & spoke to Kelvin to let him know which car was on their lot and that the keys were in the Night Deposit Box. I described to him what I believed it to be, and he said he would get right on in. We walked over to the shop around 9:30am and Kelvin greeted us with a warm smile and firm handshake & gave us an estimate of aprox. $ 350 which is about market value. He then offered us a complementary ride back to our hotel and said the car should be ready before 3pm.
By 1 o’clock in the afternoon Kelvin called us and said the car was ready and the price was just as he had quoted! Such welcomed good news!
I really want to complement how quickly Kelvin and his MIDAS Team were able to get the job done so quickly, especially on a Saturday, knowing that we were traveling. There were NO «Mystery Fixes» required that they came back to us on, and many of you travelers know what I mean! They were fair in pricing and honest with expectations! They deserve High marks in my book!

I came in today on Sunday because my wife new can had a tire that was low and wanted it fixed for her before she worked that night. When i came in at about 4:10 and asked if they could check the tires because the light came on in the car, the employee at the front desk disrespectfully said «you mean you don’t know how put air in the tire?» I told him I know there is a nail or hole somewhere and I need it fixed. After they found the nail they said they could not fix it because they closed at 5. I used to fix my own tires and know it could be done by the time they closed. Plus they admitted they were slow all day and didn’t have a lot of work. I will not be going back in yes I live here in Seaside.

Girl in front of me in line was quoted 174 dollars for a battery for a Hyundai, and 34 bux for each windshield wiper.
I could have changed my own oil 5 times in the amount of time it took them to change it once. Will not return here. 1.5 hrs for an oil change is unacceptable.
I’m glad I get to wait in line for 20 min after my car was taken off the jacks cause it gave me the opportunity to write this review.

I’m rating this Midas a 5 star for the service that I received from the owner, Charly, resolving a customer service issue.
Truthfully, my initial encounter with this shop was less than pleasing. I paid a lot of money and the car problem was not fixed at that time. I contacted Charly about this right away, but being that I live an hour and a half from his location (in San Jose) he encouraged me to take it to a local shop and he would «take care of it» for me, and take care of it for me he did!
My car was in and out of the shop for a month! It was a terrible hassle. More and more money was put into it, but not by me, by Charly. When he said he would take care of the issue for me and would ensure that I got my car back on the road safely, he meant it! Charly was so genuinely concerned for my satisfaction as a customer that he allowed me to even call his cell phone on the weekends if I needed to contact him with any concern!
To wrap up a long story, Charly completely understood my perspective as an unhappy customer, which I greatly appreciated. He was not about to give excuses about anything or try to save himself some money by pushing me around. He was very humble and pointed out where his shop can work on improving. Not once did he challenge me or make me feel inferior. At the end of the day, the customer service he provided resolved in a very happy customer.
I hope that after reading this review you can trust this shop to provide good service by the sole fact of knowing it is owned by someone who cares and truly wants his customers to be satisfied.
