If it has to do with sports, you can probably find it at 2nd Base. The inventory changes daily and includes speciality items such as archery, bocci, croquet, bowling, darts, and ice skates. You can also find used bikes, packs, baseball, tennis, watersports, apparel, shoes, balls, and books. 2nd Base has all types and kinds of used, recycled, and vintage sporting goods. History

Established in 1988.

Originally located on Seattle’s Capitol Hill. Beau Sadick started 2nd Base with a simple idea: to provide the right piece of sporting equipment to the right person for the right price. 2nd Base has relocated to 1001 NE Boat Street near the University of Washington Campus, Agua Verde, and Recycled Cycles.

For collectors and prop and display masters, 2nd Base is a treasure trove of authentic vintage and collectible sporting goods. From a 1920’s baseball mitt, vintage wood skis, or a Chouinard wood ice axe, 2nd Base has a wide variety of antiques perfect for home or office design or display.

fantastic place. came in needing a pack for my travels next year and found a supply of about 100 backpacks in fantastic condition. all prices are negotiable and the owner is extremely kind and warm. has a full supply of anything you would need for any outdoor activities – I would highly recommend checking this place out before heading to REI or LL Bean. you can find just about anything you need here, and everything is in great condition, gently used. Very flexible return policy and no tax!!! had a great experience here.

The only reason its not 5 stars is I was in there checking stuff out, not really looking for anything a few weeks ago. I started a project this week, and remembered something I saw in the store, so I biked all the way don there, and to my delight the item was still there! I asked to buy it, and I was kindly told I could not purchase that item because it did not have a price and the owner would be back next week. I will be on my trip next week so I had to bike down to REI to buy it new. I undertand the owner may not have expected to be away or took vacation time, but he could work something out with whoever is watching the store, like maybe they could just do a quick search online, and charge 50 – 80 percent of the cost new, depending on its condition.

Let me explain something in case you aren’t aware (or make a bazillion dollars a year, to which pay extra attention): sports equipment is frikken expensive. Baseball mitts new, for example, will run anywhere from $ 60 – 150 (and up), and as a recreational softball player just now getting back on to a league, I don’t want to spend that much for a mitt; mitts are also a total pain in the rear to break in, and I’ve certainly spent my time having my dad back up his car over previously owned mitts in the past in order to loosen them up a little. Funds are also tight, which any 20 something can understand, which lead me to 2nd Base. Located right next to Recycled Cycles, 2nd Base offers a selection of, as you guessed it, gently worn and used sports gear. I admittedly didnt take a good look around, as the pile of baseball mitts right next to the front door got me taken care of pretty quickly, but the shopping was painless. I am notoriously difficult to go shopping with, and try and get shopping for ANYTHING done in as few stops as possible. I found a mitt that serves my needs, is in excellent shape, broken in just right, and didn’t break the bank at $ 25.
Do check this place out if you’re in the market for new (to you) equipment, in most instances, «used» stuff is still just as good and just as useable.

This is one of my favorite stores of all time. I bought my first snowboard and equipment from Beau on Capitol Hill. Now he’s in the U-​district and he has all these treasure trove of sports equipment.
From Seahawks jerseys to softball bats and gloves.
Beau is a fair gentlemen who will give you a good price. I like to support small business and give back to the community.

Called to ask if they had any indoor soccer shoes. The man said he had no idea what those looked like so he didn’t know. He offered no other alternative (like asking someone else who worked there). Said sorry and hung up…

If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. My husband and I were looking for a used hiking carrier for our son, who is 19 months old. We were thrilled to find a Kelty for only $ 100 at 2nd Base. It appeared to be in excellent condition, so we snapped it up. Unfortunately, on our very first hike, the plastic part that holds the shoulder strap in place broke beyond repair. I called the store and before I could even finish my sentence, the owner told me to bring it back for a full refund. When we did go in, he didn’t ask any questions and just opened his wallet and gave us back our cash. He was SO friendly and accommodating, I actually felt GUILTY having to return the item. It’s a breath of fresh air to encounter customer service like this. Our son is too small for a lot of the items at this store, but when he gets a little bit older, we will definitely be back. I can’t say enough good things.

I love this store! It’s my favorite used sports store in Seattle, best selection, most reasonable prices. I’ve got 3 sporty kids with 2 wannabe sporty parents, so I always check this place first when somebody suddenly decides they have a passion for whatever expensive sports activity they may or may not have 3 months later.
This season we’ve all decided to cross country ski, and we found 3 of 5 sets of boots, all our poles, and 3 skis there, all for under 200 dollars and then filled the rest in from somewhere full price. We’re definitely willing to give more outdoor hobbies a go since we only have to invest a little money instead of gobs to try.

Went here looking for a used road bike under $ 300. Had difficulty finding a decent bike in this price range elsewhere, so I checked out 2nd Base. Bought a bike, but it ended up being too small. Their return policy is pretty open and the guy at the counter said if we tried it and it didn’t work out, we could return it for a full refund within a reasonable amount of time. We brought it back a couple days later (too small), and they took it back without any issues. The store owner chatted with us for a bit. No high pressure sales at all and a cool place to check out if you are looking for used sports equipment or a bicycle.

I don’t really get this store. They actually have an awesome selection of used sporting goods, but their prices are also through the roof. Well, sure, they’re below retail new, but on nearly every item I get the feeling they bought (yard sales and thrift stores?) for way under their price sticker. So they are asking for 500% mark-​up finders fees? When a store has such high margins, it just gives off a feeling of dishonesty. And when they say that «everything is negotiable,» they generally mean they can come down $ 5, with a struggle. They don’t actually intend to bargain.

I went last week after destroying my bike’s back wheel and dropping it off at recycled cycles. I dropped into 2nd base to find a pair of used roller skates. As soon as I walked in the owner (I believe) gave me his little «slogan» (everything laid out, negotiable), and just let me wander. Even though I came in for skates, I found myself wandering around trying to find other sports gear. I wandered around the entire store before I realized that I originally came in to try some skates on…
I tried on two pairs of gently used skates, but one was a bit small and one was a bit large. Life goes on. However, I’ll definitely be back to scope for some new skates that come in!
However, since I didn’t purchase anything, I’m not so sure how that «negotiable» stuff works out.

This place has a bit of a garage sale atmosphere.
A lot of the items are placed in piles on the floor with like items. (Soccer shoes, roller blades, weights, ice skates, converse shoes, snow shoes, etc.)
There are lots of used skis and snowboards and jackets. The prices are reasonable and negotiable. This would be a good store for someone who knows their sporting goods/​equipment and could pick out a buried treasure.
I didn’t buy anything so I’m not sure how negotiable the prices are… but some of these items are fairly used so the prices should go as low as a garage sale.
The owner was very nice.

Went in here on Memorial Day with the fam. (it was open!). Wow, great finds– got some baseball equipment for my little bro, and my mom even found some props for her photography biz. Beau was extremely helpful and friendly too! I cant wait to go back and see what new treasures they find in the meantime.
