I hadn’t realize that BlackRapid was based in Seattle until I read Tim D.‘s review. As a proud owner of Black Rapid Strap, I felt kinda obligated to get the word out. These straps are freakin’ sweet. If anyone has ever tried carrying a DSLR with the 24−70mm f2.8L lens, you know that how much those behemoth lens weigh and the canon strap makes it even worse. You’ll end up with neck spasms after a long day of carrying the camera.
But thanks to the ingenious design of the BlackRapid Straps, the weight is evenly distributed when you’re carrying your camera. If you ever see me out and about taking pictures or hiking, yes that is my camera hanging upside down by my waist side.

The best camera straps I’ve used — Period.
When you invest in your gear, you want to protect it as best you can which usually means sacrificing portability. Not with BlackRapid. With this puppy slung over my shoulder, my camera is secure and easy to access.
i looked at the Spider system too — more expensive at entry level, bulkier, and offers no protection when the camera is in your hand. With the BlackRapid, the strap stays around your shoulder while the camera is in your hand. As an event photographer this is important, in case someone bumps into me — I know the camera and lens aren’t going to fall to the floor.
