Very nice ambience and staff. I had the elk tartare and my companion the steak frites. Really enjoyed the tartare as well as a couple of their signature cocktails.

Man alive, this place is good. Always interesting and delicious menu choices, and the cocktails are well crafted; a few new twists on old favorites, and originals, not just booze and too-​sweet rubbish. Haven’t even gotten to the best part yet — the service is always excellent. The staff is warm and welcoming, matching the wonderful décor. We will be regulars for years to come.

Just made my top 10 favorite eats in Seattle. Fancy bar/​casual dinner spot with awesome customer service. By awesome, I meant that The servers made us feel like we were the only ones at the restaurant. I love that they had a limited menu because it makes it easier for you to choose. The servers there were very knowledgeable and explain to us each dish and gave us genuine suggestions about which ones we should eat. I really wish I could remember the names of The meat and cheese that we ordered because they were because they were really good. The atmosphere lacked dim lights for intimate dinners, but I don’t think you’ll need them.

Total hidden gem! Set in north Ballard right off 15^th. innovative menu regularly changes. Amazing servers give great recommendations. One of my favorite open kitchen concepts. I feel like I’m a first in someone’s home enjoying their pure passion and love for amazing food and cocktails. The mushrooms were well awesome without being overly salty. And the scallops were seared perfectly. Can’t wait to try more.

Had a lamb «t-​bone» special and was not impressed. Half of it was fat (literally), which left about 4 bites of meat… which was a little tough and didn’t have much flavor. The butternut squash soup was good, but the desert wasn’t great either. Service is great, but the food wasn’t worth the cost in my opinion.

First visit, made brunch. Our server, Alexandria, was utterly charming & knowledgeable to the last perfect detail. Family owned & operated in the finest sense. The owner shared the incredible story behind the 122 yo reclaimed bar & the salvaged painting that inspired their name.
Dutch babies with bacon to die screaming about, chorizo biscuits & gravy.
Heaven happened quietly in this fine establishment. Thank you for the experience, we’ll be back!

Seattle restaurants are usually meh in my book, but this place hits it out of the park. Invited by friends, we slid into the cozy banquette seating and ordered the fried chicken, pork shank, roasted red d’anjou pear, tenderloin steak special and garbanzo flour skillet bread. I’d give all items an A except the skillet bread, which I found to be a little dry. Portions are generous (yay!) and our waitress was delightful. (rachel). Actually, she made a big part of our night and enjoyed her knowledge and professionalism. All in all, a fantastic place. We’ll be back!

We showed up pretty early before any crowd so we mainly had the place to ourselves. super cute sweet set up with very helpful staff. small menu but very accommodating to changes. Great bloodys and popover and egg and potatoes!

Hard to give a restaurant more than one star when you are ignored by the host. We stopped in without a reservation not expecting to be seated right away. The host started talking with us then abruptly stopped to help a woman who walked in BEHIND us and proceeded to check her in because she did have a reservation — leaving us to wait at the door. Then he came back to tell us it will be over an hour wait (may have been true but there was absolutely no line behind us).
Regardless, why not have the courtesy to finish a conversation with us no matter what the table verdict was going to be rather than treat us poorly because we didn’t have a reservation?
Sad for us because the menu looked good.

Brunswick and Hunt was a total gem found by using Unilocal.I don’t think I can say enough good things about my experience here. The hostess worked with us to find seating when we rolled in on a busy Friday night, the wait staff was friendly and helpful and the food was outstanding.
We were fortunate enough today sit at the kitchen bar which is almost as good as a chef’s table. Not only were we able to see our order being prepared, we we able to converse with the sous chef and we were able to see all of the dishes that we didn’t order but will order in the future as Brunswick and Hunt will be visited again.
The fried chicken looked amazing as did the pork shank and the short ribs. We had the clams, charcuterie plate with rabbit rillette, country pâté, bread and cheese (there are many choices for the charcuterie those were ours) and we also has the elk tartare which was amazing.
In addition to the food there was a fantastic list of craft cocktails and an ample wine list sure to please almost any foodie.
Do yourself a favor and try this place, you won’t regret it.

Absolutely amazing food and great service. We had the fried cauliflower and cornbread as an appetizer. The combination of the two was wonderful! The cornbread was so decadent I could have just had that as my main course. For entrees we tried the steak and frites and pork shank. Both were incredible, but the pork was my favorite. The sauce that accompanied it had so many layers of flavor, it was definitely the standout dish for me. Go here! You won’t be disappointed.

First visit to this neighborhood gem and I was very impressed. I am a fried chicken fiend and must say it was so good I wanted to eat as slowly as possible just so I could make it last. My wife had steak frittes and I had a hard time getting even a bite of hers, I succeeded and it was worth the fight. The thing that put the experience over the top was the exceptional service, Rachel our server was super helpful and attentive. She thanked us by name on our way out.

What an all around great experience I had here! I went in for a friends birthday in the middle of the week, and our server took excellent care of us. There was about 8 of us and she was always on top of everything!
The wine and cocktail list is packed with great selections. Creative names and delicious concoctions!
Since I was with such a big group I was able to have a little taste of multiple things, so here we go —
Elk Tartar is a MUST!
Garbanzo bread filled with olives, tomato and feta. Not what I was expecting when it came out, but I would order it again. Definitely enough to share between ²⁄₄ people.
Steak Frites — I wasn’t too impressed with this dish. It was just a generic steak and fries, with loads of steak butter. The Pork Shank was definitely a hit at the table so I would probably order that over the steak next time. The fried chicken was also delicious!
Can’t forget about the Brussels Sprouts. a yummy vegetable side to any dish.
The ambiance is casual, comfortable and rustic. I enjoyed the food and atmosphere, and like I said before — our service was awesome! Go check it out. Why not?!

Legit Business!!! First, the owner and staff are attentive, helpful, welcoming, and professional which is a breath of fresh air in the Ballard restaurant scene. Some of the best service in town, period
The food is spectacular and being here several times, trying different things on the menu and it’s always fantastic. Some of the best fried chicken in Seattle, great plating, and perfect balance of ingredients on everything on their menu. You can tell they work a dish over to be exceptional before putting it on the menu.
Cool, but not overly done interior, and I’d say they are 5 stars in all categories. But for me, food and service are equally important and this place is on point. Thank you and keep it up, show other restaurateurs how to run a proper business and we’ll keep coming to you!

First time coming here, it’s right next to the Fat Hen/​Essex. Parking is relatively easy, plenty of street parking since it’s a residential area.
Drinks: Our group started off the night with some drinks. Being a huge fan of malbecs, of course I had to indulge in some! I also tried a glass of their cabernet which was also very fine and paired well with our meat dishes/​entrees. My group also ordered a bunch of mixed drinks and I heard no complaints! Overall would rate their drinks an A+ in my books.
Food: Great selection of food, we ordered a variety of items. Started off with their clams and charcuterie plate. The charcuterie plate had foie gras, pickled asparagus, mustard, olives, chicken liver, prosciutto and toasted bread — the foie gras was amazing, great appetizer. The clams were pretty good too, extremely generous portions with bits of sausage in the broth. Then we ordered a variety of entrees:
Fried Chicken — this was some of the best fried chicken I’ve had. The outside crispy skin was slightly sweet and oh so crunchy! The inside meat was very flavorful, tender, juicy, and not the LEAST bit dry!
Short Rib — Best short rib I’ve ever had, tender, and the meat practically fell off the bone. Such good flavor!
Fried Thai Snapper — They give you a WHOLE fish, head, tail, and all! I think out of all the dishes we got, I loved this one the most. I’m a huge fish fan and the meat was fluffy, had great taste, and not overpoweringly fishy either.
Service: I must say, our waiter was extremely informative, gave us great choices, and always brought everything we asked within a timely manner. However, it was hard to find him at times, he seemed one of the only waiters and was also serving the bar area. Because of this, I think it took away from our overall experience (which is why I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 stars). If they hired more people, I think this would be a game-​changing restaurant, 5-​star quality all the way.
Overall — Would definitely come back here, I loved their food and their selection of drinks. Slightly on the pricier end but worth it when you see what they give you!

I would have to say when it comes to food, this place has their stuff together. We stumbled in here around 8:30 PM and the server was amazing and accommodating, being that it was kind of late in the evening she was very cordial and delivered superb service.
Our food came to us pretty quick. We ordered the pork belly which I highly recommend. It had the right seasoning plus the mushrooms added a good texture to the dish.
I ordered the bison burger and my fiancée ordered the collard green sausage. My fiancée said the collard greens were something that reminded him of the most traditional southern collard green. The cut, the texture, and the seasoning were perfect. Both of our dishes were delicious and I would definitely come back to check out their intriguing brunch menu.
If you like southern inspired food, this place is bound to tickle your fancy!

You will pay far out your, erm, butt, for this restaurant… but it’s worth it.
Definitely one of the best meals out I’ve had in a while. I went with a group of 4, and everything we ordered was great. The service and atmosphere are also good.
Charcuterie Plate: full of great flavors and interesting textures!
Cedar planked mushrooms: earthy, mushroom flavor, yum!
Loin steak: I’m not a huge fan of steak these days in general, but my goodness! This was good stuff!
Fried chicken: Yes, it’s good. Although admittedly, I’ve not had bad fried chicken.
Sea Scallops: a perfectly cooked treat with a fresh, tasty salad.
We tried several cocktails, but the group favorite was the whore’s neck. The fact we all agreed is a tribute to how balanced the drink was: sweet, sour, spirit forward… mmm!
Great place for a special occasion or a nice date night. I’d recommend, and I’ll be returning! As an added bonus, the food is so rich and delectable, you probably won’t be hungry again for a l o n g time.

I visited here on a weeknight for a 6.30 dinner on reservations. The place is small and cute! Yes, the large bar and giant facing painting are impressive. They will even check your coat for you. Everyone who worked there was very cool, we had 2 servers who helped us during our 2hr stay. While we were here, the place gradually filled up with quite a wait later. I feel fortunate to have visited here and have a positive experience.
For starters we had the mussels and fries (ordered a la carte). The mussels were plump and tasty, while the broth was just the right level of savory. The fries were mostly good (some were crispy and some were soggy/​stale) with the dipping sauces – ketchup, aoili, and mustard. The two starters paired well together since we ran out of buttery, crispy and chewy, dipping bread (4pcs) for the broth.
For my main I ordered the fried chicken. As another review mentioned, the chicken has this sweet syrup drizzled on top which isn’t mentioned in the item description. I knew this going in, but it was still a little off-​putting and may be better as breakfast/​brunch fare with a waffle! The chicken sat atop some root veggies which were ok.
A neighboring table had ordered a fried fish entrée, when it came out, it was beautiful! The whole fish was fried and had curled up so elegantly that another table was also sneaking peeks with us until all three of us just admitted we were admiring her main!
To drink we had some wine and the «whore’s neck» which I had to order due to its name, but I ordered it in a hushed whisper while pointing. Heh! It was a fun drink.
I would certainly come back here for drinks and their brunch!

3.5 stars. came here for drinks while we waited the long & torturous wait for delancey right now the road. i love that there are some ‘new’ places in the area to grab a drink or light bite whilst waiting for delancey; it helps not to have to drive into downtown ballard.
the service was great! we were greeted by someone who told us the low-​down of the wait and was super nice about it being crowded. hey, no big deal, it’s a popular place! :) totally appreciate the effort he made! 2 bartenders were working on saturday night, 1 was SUPER friendly and talkative, which was a big plus considering it was kind of busy. the other was kind of B, like he was too cool for us. yeah not cool man.
drinks were good, the hubs and friends were able to try a couple different beers from the nice bartender and talk about different cocktails, which they seemed to highlight more than draft beers. my wine was tasty and reasonably priced ($ 8 for an argentinean malbec is good).
we perused the menu, thinking it’d be nice to grab some appies, but at $ 13+ for small plates (brussels sprouts, charcuterie, etc.), it didn’t seem worth it. the dinner menu seemed to range around $ 28+ per plate, so a little pricier than i would’ve expected. but everything sounded yummy, so i’m interested in coming back for dinner sometime.
the ambiance is laid back. the bar woodwork is really pretty & large! they have large windows, so in the summer it’s probably really nice with all that light. the kitchen is open, so you can take a gander at your food prep. :)
bottom line: great place for drinks, dinner sounds intriguing, and service was good.

I have mixed feelings about Brunswick and Hunt.
Located down the street from the NW 70^th Street, stomping ground for not only of my personal favorite pizza place in this fair city, but one of the best cooking schools, and one of the most delicious bakeries, it’s fair to say the bar is high in this hood.
In terms of atmosphere, the gorgeous greys and old reconstructed bar are nice and make the place feel two parts masculine and one part cozy.
Foodwise, they meet the bar. We had two excellent, but pricey $ 17 burgers (perfect medium rare) and crisp frites, a mushroom and arugula starter, and an apple crisp. The mushrooms especially, cooked on a cedar plank in a wood fire oven and served alongside a tossed arugula salad with simple lemon and oil and sea salt dressing, but also the burgers, were a terrific balance of simple ingredients that came together well.
Experience-​wise, an evening at Brunswick and Hunt was like watching beautiful grey paint dry. Our waitress kept apologizing and promising dishes that were already far too long-​awaited would emerge in «two more minutes», and then proceeded to disappear while we waited another thirty. The whole meal, despite being delicious, came out very slowly.
I felt captive without any incoming food, so I went to the bathroom to wash my hands and noticed organic hand lotion. I arrived back at the table to find that the Brunswick and Hunt bathroom lotion contained some horrific version of Polo fragrance from the 80s. My husband gasped at the wafting fumes. I felt like I was stuck in a small car with a teenager from 1985. I ran back to the sink to scrub my lotioned hands into submission.
Dessert was a buttery apple cobbler, we also waited a long time for, but at this point, we understood waiting was the deal and it was quite good.
Sadly, I waited long enough to watch a busboy take our pawed for three hours glass water pitcher to the bar, refill it without emptying the water or washing it out, and just set it down at a table of unsuspecting arriving guests. I don’t know what to say except good thing I had washed my hands. (Oh, and I hope they like the smell of Polo.) Do yourself a favor and ask for a fresh water pitcher.
