About 4.5 months ago, the «CEO», Ton approached my business partner about re-​doing our website, claiming it was «outdated». Granted, it was not programmed in the same format as Byteme, but was not a typical tattoo studio website [meaning, it was more than just ONE page, and an address].
Ton had us convinced that he was this confident, assertive, and PROFESSIONAL CEO; he guaranteed to complete our website to 90%, that he and his team in Seattle were going to take care of us, and that they were going to acquire thousands of additional likes on our social media sites. In addition, he convinced us to do a «trade»; tattoos services for a website. My business partner believed in Ton and his vision, so I agreed.
As a professional photographer, I referred Byteme to client and great friend. I provided her name and business info; Ton told me he would contact her the next day and NEVER did. — Red Flag 1.
Two weeks later, we did not have even a rough design of our site. — Red flag 2.
When we finally got our site, it was NOTHING like we hoped for. It was a generic version of the www. byteme. cc website. I went into great explanation of the choice of font used in our website, the choice of verbiage, and in addition to this; there were numerous MISSPELLINGS AND GRAMMATICAL ERRORS! When this is your job, please explain to me how you allow something like this to pass through a «thorough inspection»? It doesn’t. That would be like our tattoo artist misspelling a tattoo. — Red flag 3.
I requested a meeting with Ton, to which he showed up late. — Red flag #4.
We went through the website and gave him a LENGTHY list of everything we needed fixed. Not once did he write down anything. I even asked him if he needed a pen and paper so he could write things down; to which he declined my offer. — Red flag #5
After ending our meeting, we went about our business, assuming that Ton and his «Seattle Team» would take of what he promised.
4 weeks later, I reached out to Ton to inquire about the standing of our website development; to which he was short, and completely evaded my inquiry to meet and discuss this. Big surprise, I went to the temporary site and NOTHING had changed. — Red flag #5. By this time I was done.
On August 8, I re-​typed the same list I had gone over with Ton, 4 weeks prior. Same meeting that he failed to write any of our edits down.
By the final straw, I had received numerous texts from the referral I gave Byteme/​Ton; in which she was experiencing the exact same frustrating situations. However, she informed me that Ton had told her that his team was NOT in Seattle, but he was out sourcing the work to India. This explained the grammatical errors and misspelled words on the website. Both parties being frustrated, and being the one that referred him, I had to apologize multiple times for the referral.
My business partner and I met with Ton early this last week, on our day off to discuss these things. The entire time he sat there, speechless, and no way to defend himself. He evaded all of our questions, and hardly seemed apologetic. Not to mention, he showed up with his 6 year old daughter to a business meeting. [Completely UNPROFESSIONAL move]. My business partner asked Ton, «Do you have a photographic memory?»; Ton replied, «No why?». «Because you never write anything down.» Every professional meeting I have had with reputable companies, the CEO’s, COO’s, AND Employees are writing things down. As a business owner, I have to write things down because we are so busy; I would forget what we discussed.
If I could rate my experience and the quality of work a ZERO, I would. This company and Ton have wasted our time. In the end, he paid for his services because he was 100% HAPPY with the services HE received; but we, on the other had were NOT happy.
I highly recommend reviewing the profiles that are rating this company with 5 stars — the profiles were created and updated at the time of the reviews. Because of the scam that was attempted with us, and based on the actual websites that were created, these reviews ARE FAKE. Do NOT waste your time with this company — they are not who they claim to be, they are completely unprofessional, and lacks follow through.
