D’Ambrosio Gelato

Artificial flavors with pronounced globules of grease mixed with ice crystals. The absolute worst (non-)gelato I’ve ever had. Not even worthy to call itself a Gelato shop. And another thing: the next time I see a shop not using round ice cream scoops, which produce spherical, same-​size balls of ice cream – I walk right on by. I don’t get how it’s okay to have flavors all smeared together, in unequal amounts. What a joke.

Awesome people and the most Amazing Gelato I’ve found in Seattle yet! Staff was eager to help and fun to talk to, customers were also friendly while they stopped by for some dessert after dinner!

Supremely delicious gelato made with organic ingredients! Love at first bite, and EVERY bite.

Strong natural smell ice-​creams! I chose coconut and berry tastes. There were true coconut and berries. I like the berry taste. It tasted like there were flowers inside. Great choice and you should have a try.

Super good! And sustainable! The cups and spoons are 100% biodegradable. I had the salted caramel ice cream, and it was amazing!!!

Love the stracciatella, coconut, salted caramel, and tiramisu gelato. The sorbets are refreshing with clear, strong, not to mention tasty flavors.
I just brought some for my 1 year old son, mom, and 89 year old grandma. Guess what. Everyone loved their gelato!
D’Ambrosio is one of my favorite desserts around, hands down! They’re always friendly in there, too. Love it!

The gelato is amazing (best ice cream in Seattle) but they really skimp on the portions. Wendy the cashier/​ice cream scooper was a little unfriendly but I’ll probably still go back for their hazelnut gelato! The ice cream is so delicious, it makes you forget how stingy they are.

Gelato has a nice texture but the flavors taste a little on the artificial side. Got the pistachio which was okay.

Super cool little gelateria. Prices are sky high (welcome to ballard?) but the flavor doesn’t disappoint. What else is there to say about it? Prepare to empty your wallet!

Make sure you sample before you try because some of the flavors are surprisingly bland… (cookies and crème/​caramel). Other flavors are some of the best gelato I have ever tasted. Ended up going with Small– which is two scoops– in waffle cone– extra $ 1. Hazelnut and chocolate and it was a killer combo. My husband got the lemon and strawberry sorbet and loved it. They are open late, so stop by after dinner!

Best gelato in Seattle, hands down, no questions asked! This stuff tastes exactly like it was made in Italy, right down to the little florescent dixie cups and spoons. Bravo! Bravo!

Really divine gelato with quality ingredients. A small shop with less seating than customers, it’s worth it to wait in line and stand around while eating your dessert.
I came in here on ¹⁄₁₅ with two people after dinner. My friend was introducing the rest of us. I got a small scoop of the biscotti gelato in a cup. Not the best gelato I’ve ever had, but still quite good.
They had about 20 different flavors, and they all looked tempting. I wanted to try them all.
They also serve hot chocolate.
They have bar seating at the two windows and a couple tables. Super bare bones.
Located in a busy area in Ballard, parking is not fun but you’ll get to walk off dessert.
No interaction with the staff beyond telling me my small scoop was $ 5.

Needed dessert after lunch/​dinner. Found this little place. I was skeptical about Caramel and figs, but I read that it’s amazing… I just had to try it. I was pleasantly surprised. I got a medium size (two flavors) of Caramel and figs with Piedmont Hazelnut on a waffle cone. I also sampled the Mexican chocolate… really loved that spicy aftertaste. I expected a light kick. You know how most «spicy» ice creams or Gelato are. Wrong! It was like a kung-​fu kick. Will definitely have to get that next time!

I found this place after googling best ice cream places in Seattle. Coming from San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego (and more recently from a trip to Italy!) I had to try me some gelato!
When we came there was a line but it didn’t take too long to get served. I tried various flavors but ultimately settled with a small cup of espresso and tiramisu.
Don’t get me wrong, their gelato is decent, but it wasn’t what I was expecting. It wasn’t very rich and it didn’t blow my mind like other places I’ve been to, I can definitely say I’ve had better. But hey, maybe I’m just spoiled by Italy. Still will continue my hunt for the best gelato in Seattle, the search continues!

By far, my favourite was the sorbet. Also good was the lemon basil if you ever get a chance, that’s definitely something different!
Ballard is such a hip and bumping area, it’s nice to see a classic gelato storefront with short lines and nice staff!

You don’t know this about me, but I’m not the biggest ice cream fan. I am, however, a huge gelato fan. And D’Ambrosio is my spot in Ballard. The first time I came in, my friends jokingly told me to get the rice flavor (since I’m Asian), I did and it was amazing!
Years later, thinking that D’Ambrosio was further towards Market street than they actually are, I find them again, try the rice flavor (with mango flavor, I’m a sucker for fruit gelato) and it’s still as amazing as ever.
I’m sorry I asked for recommendations and then completely discarded them, I want to try the non-​fruit gelato, I really do! But fruit gelato is so dang good! Next time, I swear.

Ice cream was good. there are a few good selections to choose from. Staff are friendly and there are quite a bit of seats available. This place isn’t that busy even in the summer time. I find their ice cream ok. Wish they added more dairy to it or make it more smoother and maybe would be better if their ice cream had more taste to it. Waffle cone was ok.
I like their pricing how it goes by small, medium, large and extra large and not by flavor.
The place looks clean. I am assuming only locals come here.

I felt like going on an adventure for some good gelato… My first impression of the area was that it was not diverse. Kind of awkward getting stared down but the gelato made up for it! I forgot the specific name of the flavor I got but it was a cappuccino cookie swirl mix. It was pretty darn good! One scoop of it seemed like a medium. They are pretty generous with their scoops which is a plus!

The gelato here is so delicious!!! Tough to make a decision when there are so many wonderful flavors to choose from. After dinner up the street, we decided to come here to have a little dessert. A small cup will allow you to get 1 or 2 flavors so I decided to get Coconut and the Kinder (hazlenut crunch) and we also got Dark Chocolate & Tiramisu flavor. We switched halfway through and dang, i should’ve gotten the dark chocolate!
A great place to have a dessert, wonderful flavors, good price, friendly staff but I felt bad for her because for some reason she was working alone and the line got real long. For those germa-​phobes (which I am not)…the young lady did wash her hands in between handling the cashier and re-​scooping for the next person.
Ill definitely be back and try their fruit flavors next time.

If there is one word to describe «D’Ambrosio Gelato», it would have to be «heavenly». This is one of if not the best gelato shops that I’ve ever been to in my time. And since I’m about 75% Italian, that is saying a lot! And if you’re in dire need of what Seattle’s best place to buy a creamy cup of gelato on a warm summer day, this would have to rank tops in my book!
Conveniently located in the hip and trendy Ballard neighborhood of Seattle, «D’Ambrosio Gelato» was an easy find. I come here with my fiancée on an unusually warm September evening around 8pm. And the perfect remedy to this was some cold gelato to indulge in. Parking was actually easy to find as we snatched up a spot literally across the street. And with many shops, restaurants, and taverns open for business, this was a warm welcome for us.
Once we entered, it was crowded as what we had expected. But the lines moved very swiftly. I was able to sample many different tasting gelatos including their popular pistachio, tiramisu´, Nutella, Madagascar vanilla, and chocolate chip. However, I finally settled with ½ espresso and ½ sea salt-​caramel. The price for a small cup was $ 3.95 which was fairly reasonable for the amount of gelato they load in the cup.
The espresso part of my gelato was heavenly and creamy while it had that unique coffee bean flavor. The sea salt-​caramel even had excellent texture as it provided the perfect balance of sweet and salty in every bite. I also sampled a few bites of my fiancées gelato (which was a creamy strawberry flavor) and that was also on point. It had fresh glazed amount of bright red strawberries embedded in each bite.
Now I’ve been to my share of gelato establishments, mainly in San Francisco, New York, and Chicago. And I’ve got to say, this texture, flavor, and overall taste that I experienced here ranks up there as one of the best places I’ve been to. Everything is made fresh daily; from the organic milk to the local fruits and nuts, it raises the bar for unsurpassed quality. And best of all, they use absolutely no corn syrup, no artificial colors/​flavors, and no preservatives.
«D’Ambrosio Gelato» also offers two other locations, one in Capitol Hill and the other out in Bellevue. All in all, this place was truly a great find! And hats off to the father and son duo, Enzo and Marco for dishing out some excellent gelato for all of us to enjoy! Definitely five stars in my book!
