Moo Berries

*sigh* I really hate to write this, but man, it happened again! So last summer the taro fro yo machine broke. I was bummed. Yesterday, after a huge craving for some taro fro yo, I trekked on over there with my hopes way up, and guess what? The taro machine broke. Again. I’m so going to Wow in the U-​District for my taro fro yo fix from now on.

Real good frozen yogurt that tastes natural and fresh. I’m always shocked by how big the samples are… they make me full. My favorite flavors are plain and taro. Staff is usually friendly and efficient. The place has been refurnished and now looks a bit fancier than before. I would give it 5 stars except that they really should be open to later hours *and* always stick to them… there have been times when I went there wanting a yogurt and they were closed :(

Of all the local fro-​yo shops, this is my favorite. Far better than other local joints like Red Mango. Both times I’ve made it out here they were generous with the servings and topping which were really fresh. Seemed a tiny bit cheaper than the others too.
As with all local shops, I wish they were more like the ones in Cali. By that I mean tons of yogurt flavors, self-​serve, and charged by weight.

Reasons I love Mooberry:
1. They have outside seating and inside seating.
2. Everything is fat free
3. It is super clean and ultra air conditioned in the summer
4. Portions are generous and they don’t weigh the servings. What is up with those places?
5. Samples are a plus
6. Staff is friendly, unlike the emo-​teens who pimp yogurt at some places.
7. It is less expensive than Red Mango — not to mention all around better!
8. It is an addiction I don’t mind having.
9. Location is good– Parking is usually available nearby, and it is right across the street from the movie theater.
10. And the top reason is: The yogurt tastes great, so fresh! No strange aftertaste like «other» places. So simple and pure, nothing artificial. Smooth. Hmmmm! I need me some now!

After having dinner at Palermo’s my friend and I weren’t ready to call it night so I suggested grabbing some froyo (frozen yogurt).
We sample the pomegranate and the original. Both were equally tasty so we got a swirl topped with strawberries. I love to have mochi on my froyo but unfortunately they didn’t have that in just yet. They also seemed to be a bit lacking in toppings than say Red Mango.
The girl working definitely hooked a sister up. We ordered a medium but she gave us a lot more than that and loaded up on the strawberries.
We were enjoying the froyo until some random creeper tried chatting us up proudly stating how much he loves Asian girls (Insert biggest eye roll ever!). Gah, it was time to head home.
Enjoyed the froyo, not so much the creepy clientele. I thought I was in the U-​District for a minute there.

Mooberry isn’t bad fro-​yo, but I’ve had better.
They were out of the green tea flavor on the day I went in, so I settled for original. Like real (non-​frozen) yogurt, it was pretty tart, not very smooth or creamy, and the kiwi topping tasted like an odd mixture of under-​ripened and over-​ripened fruit. Crunchy AND mushy. The whole experience left me thinking, why bother?

The fro-​yo is still delicious, but their customer service has been not so friendly the past couple times I went in.
Also, they are no longer doing punch cards (but they will honor any old ones you have)!! Big bummer, since I am a sucker for punch cards. Booooo.

Excuse me while I go on a little fro-​yo rant here:
Original (no matter where you go) is not vanilla. And unlike what others have said, it’s also not lemon. It’s plain yogurt with some sugar, put into an ice cream machine. If one has ever eaten plain yogurt, I’m sure they noticed the tangy taste. Surprise: frozen yogurt tastes like yogurt. Those looking for a magical ice cream that won’t clog their arteries may be disappointed.
So, back to Mooberry. The fro-​yo wasn’t bad, but their topping selection was not that impressive, I ended up just getting sprinkles. The fruit didn’t look as fresh as some of the other places I’ve been. Also, I tried a honeydew flavor, and was disappointed. It was lime green and overly sweet, instead of the subtle melon flavor I was imagining. I wasn’t even sure they used real fruit in it.
In conclusion: the fro-​yo (orginal) was alright, the service was friendly, and I’m sure I’ll return when I’m wandering around Ballard on a sunny day. That said, it’s no competition with the batch of homemade lemon ginger fro-​yo that’s sitting in my freezer right now.

I enjoyed the original & pomegranate swirl. Although the original has a lemon slant to it. Good but not what I expected.
In my book original should always be vanilla. And there should ALWAYS be a chocolate option but there was not.
Plus the extra toppings seems pricey.
The staff was friendly and they had no problem letting my friend trade in for something new when it was discovered that the original flavor was lemon and the carmel topping selected to go with it was not a good match.
If you visit this shop make sure to ask for a sample prior to making your selections.

**** FLAVA! Love at first slurp. Mango fruit smoothie. Business was slow today; I cannot rate service. I will return to try the yogurt next time

I am only posting this review to offset the comments from a few people who, frankly, are what the junior high schooler in me might call a «retard». People complaining that it’s not like TCBY have no business in Ballard anyway, or even using computers faster than a 386!
There are two types of frozen yogurt — the kind that is more closely related to soft-​serve ice cream (i.e. the kind Margaret Thatcher helped develop in the early 1950’s — go read your history books), and the new-​old kind, which is actually yogurt, with the characteristic sourness that said dairy product is known for. This is the latter kind. So, for those who can’t fathom anything but apres-​soccer runs to TCBY in mom’s Plymouth Voyager, go home already.
Now, as for the actual mooberry yogurt itself, it’s pretty decent. Pomegranate tasted lovely and so have all the other flavors thus far. The only negative at this point is that the toppings aren’t all that great for the price — improve the quality and they’ll be worth it. But I am not much of a topping type anyway — little should stand between me and my dessert.

On a hot day, Mooberry saved me and my sanity.
I was having a serious craving for fro-​yo of the Pinkberry variety. I thought about my options of going to Red Mango in BelleSquare or downtown and neither appealed to me. And, I’m STILL waiting for the U-​Village Red Mango to open. Thank you Unilocal.I found Mooberry through you.
Fro-​yo is overpriced at all the usual places so I won’t complain about that. I sampled the different flavors they had — plain, pomegranate and strawberry and settled on the plain with fresh mango topping. Their topping selection was on the typical array but didn’t scream «Fresh!» to me. They were skimpy on the topping which is the only thing that really detracted from my Mooberry experience.

A decent cup of fro yo, but I can’t say much for the toppings.
Escaping the heat with a cup of tasty frozen yogurt is becoming a surprisingly frequent pastime these days. According to Al Gore, this trend may continue. If you’re in Ballard and in need of a cool, yogurty pick-​me-​up, Mooberry just might be the ticket.
The atmosphere is bright and flourescently sterile. Not much style here to speak of, which is probably fine– it encourages you to get outside and sit at the outdoor tables, or test your walking-​while-​eating skills. There’s enough to see and do in Ballard that you might as well take the stroll.
Flavors included original, strawberry, pomegranate, and the flavor of the month (green tea at the time). The topping options weren’t much to speak of — a few cereals and sweets, and a couple of fruits. It was hard to tell if the fruit was fresh or thawed. I wouldn’t say it looked suspect or anything, but it wasn’t especially appetizing either.
Lacking my beloved Golden Grahams, I opted for graham cracker topping. Or, I should say, I was duped into spending an extra dollar to have my yogurt cup coated with soggy cardboard slivers disguised as graham crackers. Despite the stale grahams, I managed an untainted bite or two — enough to tell that the pomegranate yogurt was a nice, light fruity flavor with a little bit of refreshing yogurty zing to it.
Mooberry serves smoothies in addition to fro yo, for those who prefer their yogurt refreshments in liquid form. I’ll be back to sample more flavors, and maybe a smoothie, but next time I might just play it safe and bring my own grahams.

I thought I was going to love this place. It was a warm, sunny day, and I was out on a stroll through beautiful downtown Ballard when a craving for something frozen and delicious suddenly came over me.
«What shall it be?» I thought to myself. Over to Ben and Jerry’s for some fine ice cream or keep it a bit healthier with some frozen yogurt from Mooberry? Obviously, I chose the latter.
I ordered a Perfectly Peach smoothie. Now, it wasn’t bad, but it just didn’t hit the spot like I was hoping it would. The staff was friendly, the place was clean, and everything else besides the actual drink was great, but when it comes down to it. My drink was just not that good. My final synopsis was that I can make a better smoothie at home and for cheaper.
I noticed they have peanut butter something or other on my way out the door, so I’ll probably give it another shot. Maybe my mind will change about you, Mooberry, and I can finally use the new update feature I’ve noticed the kids using. We’ll see.

With the name of Mooberry, I would have expected some type of dairy product and fruits…
Yes, fro yo does have dairy, but it is often eaten by lactose-​sensitve people in place of ice cream, as the live cultures can help digest the lactose (this was your free lesson of the day).
And yes, there was some fruits… but also nuts, and cookies, and other stuff. And wow, with the price, I was expecting a «happy ending» after eating, but no such luck.
I got a smoothie. It was fine. Not as well blended as Jamba Juice. I think next time, I’ll do some type of sundae thing.
Perhaps they should call it, «Fro yo and some other shit.» Just a thought, Mooberry.

A small yogurt with two topping will run ya around 5 bucks. A little on the high side for my taste.
I had the strawberry with peanut and oreo toppings. It was okay. The kiddos might like it, and it’s healthier than ice cweam.

I saw the Mooberry sign and decided I wanted some frozen yogurt. It was a weird night and I deserved some, plus I was going home from a happy hour stone cold sober.
Inside I go, asking for a small original with Captain Crunch, they had to go in the back and get more Captain Crunch and guess what, there were NO crunch berries in it. WTF!!! Captain Crunch needs the crunch berries people! I was sad but since he was nice enough to go back and refill the captain crunch for me I didn’t say anything. However I did ask for a sample of the pomegranate frozen yogurt and that was some good stuff. If I make it back there this month that’s the flavor I’m going for, so light and fresh and scrumptious.

And yet another Red Mango — Pinkberry hybrid sets up shop here in the Seattle area. Well done, Mooberry. Like CrazyCherry (formerly known as CrazyBerry), you’ve even incorporated the same little swirly fruit drawing Pinkberry has into your Mooberry logo. Careful, Mooberry. If you pop up on Pinkberry’s radar, you may be changing your name to Moocherry soon.

Just went in for some yogurt and it was tasty! The original flavor tastes like lemony vanilla, and it’s really good with berries. The medium cup with two toppings is around $ 5, and it was a good size portion. The toppings’ servings aren’t huge, but they’re enough to satisfy.
Their flavors are:
–Original (lemony/​tangy vanilla)
–Green Tea
–Coffee
–Flavor of the Month (right now it’s Forest Berry)
The toppings I remember are chopped strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, mango, mandarin oranges, pineapple, slivered almonds, peanut butter chips, chocolate chips, coconut shavings, fruit loops, cocoa pebbles, Captain crunch, fruity pebbles, & Oreo crumbles.
I tried the original flavor with blueberries and strawberries, and I highly recommend it!

After being out and about on a hot day in Ballard, a stop at Mooberry seemed in order. I’d never been here before and it took a few moments to sort through the healthy yogurt selections. Basically, they are grouped into the smoothie and yogurt categories and come with various toppings for the yogurt and «boosters» for the smoothies.
I opted for the smoothie and the yogurt tender gave a long list of the items they were out of. Occasionally, you’ll run into a place that may be out of an item or two, but they were missing things that nixed about half of the menu. Fortunately, I’m not that picky, but I could see where that would potentially be a problem. But they had a citrus/​mango drink available which looked promising and then the yogurteer went over the boosters. Most of these seemed harmless, essentially some vitamins for your drink, although some of the health claims were a bit outlandish. Note that they come with the phrase «This statement has not been evaluated by the FDA. This product is not intended to treat or cure any disease.»
Quibbling aside, the smoothie was tasty and perfect for a hot day. Although I cannot guarantee that the drink will cure your cold, plantar warts, memory loss, or existential doubts; it very well may cure your thirst.
(I just re-​read that last sentence. I’m going to keep it, although it sounds like I’m in a career of either writing either bad movie trailers or advertising jingles.)
