David R. Broudy, M.D.

Dr. Broudy is the best. Since my last review, I have visited him on several occasions. When I had some break-​through heart symptoms while on my meds, he arranged for me to go through a graded exercise test on a treadmill. After my test was completed, he told me how impressed he was with my results. Of course, the competition is 25 – 30 years older, but I’ll take whatever compliments I can get.
If my insurance company let me, I think I would continue to visit Dr. Broudy even if I didn’t have a stupid arrhythmia to manage. He’s very entertaining. A few visits ago, he was looking through my chart, and asked if I was related to a physician from another state who shares the same last name as me. After telling him we were not related, Dr. Broudy goes on to tell me the story of how the physician was attacked and killed by an alligator. See, entertaining, right?

I agree whole“heart“edly with Trish R. Boyfriend has a history of cardiac problems, and last year needed an ICD implant. Dr. Broudy (we like to call him «the electrician») was the surgeon and did a great job. Unfortunately (and no one blames the doc), BF developed a hematoma at the incision site about a week later, which burst and left a hole — on a Saturday, of course. This is where Providence ER really fell down: they didn’t prescribe any antibiotics and didn’t call Dr. Broudy or BF’s regular cardiologist Dr. English («the plumber»), even though they both work in the same building! Anyway, 3 days later BF was back in the hospital with a raging 108 deg. fever and staph infection, and the ICD had to come out immediately. When he found out what had happened, Dr. Broudy didn’t hide the fact that he was really PO’d at the ER for creating this avoidable mess. Although Dr. English removed the unit, Dr. Broudy installed the second one and so far it’s been just fine. He is without question an expert at what he does, yet manages to be non-​egotistical with a good sense of humor. Kudos also to the curiously compelling infectious disease guy, Dr. John Pauk, for keeping the BF around for awhile longer.
