Had a chocolate glazed and an old fashioned. Both were good, but not great. Not sure I understand the hype.

The donuts are amazing, some of the best I have ever tried and best in Seattle! The service is top notch! The guys working are so friendly and welcoming. They talked to my Father in Law for a good hour in between customers and they happen to recognize my family every time we go in. Highly recommend this place!

I love this place. The donuts are good, and it has a good community feel in a not-so-community area. They always give my little one free donut holes, which makes her super happy.

I got a dozen donuts(finally) and they were amazing! The guy who helped me was so sweet that it made the whole experience that much better. I came closer to closing time but I can only image how delicious these would be right at open. :)

I just picked up a half dozen donuts here for the first time and let me tell you. They are *delicious.* The lemon and orange donuts we got are some of the lightest textured donuts we’ve had in this style, nice and fluffy inside. The icing has enormous citrus flavor! And my partner says the apple fritter is the best they’ve ever had. I’m definitely recommending them to my friends.

Awww. I recently learned that the shop changed ownership. My guy retired. Going to miss him! It made sense as I had noticed a slight decline in the donuts. They still have a great selection of donuts, but I love me a glazed raised and it’s not quite the same.

They have CRULLERS! I have been searching for cruller donuts every since Winchell’s on 45th closed. This place makes them and they are great. I tiny bit too much glaze for my taste, but great just the same. Very friendly and prompt service.

Service was great. I do appreciate the family run donut shops, but unfortunately the donuts here were average at best. I presume they were fairly fresh as we arrived early(ish) in the morning(around 7:30AM). They did have a maple bacon version, which made my son happy. They also carried cruellers, which can sometimes be hard to find. That made me happy. Unfortunately, the crueller wasn’t great. Not fried properly and overly greasy. I think maybe this particular day they didn’t have their oil at the proper temperature and the donuts were negatively impacted. Does seem popular though.

Such a friendly family owned donut place. Move ova top pot! I would choose any day to support local businesses over chains and I used to love top pot but somewhere along the way, their donuts started to become a little lackluster and a little overpriced. enter this place! I’ve heard great things about the donuts here and also how nice the owners were, but I finally experienced it first hand when I stopped in today. They’ve got some unique items including these ginormo apple turnovers with crumbled cinnamon on top that look like empanadas! This place ain’t fancy but when you can boast in flavor you don’t need fancy. Shall be stopping by every Sunday before church for my weekly donut fix!

This weekend, my friend had a donut contest for her birthday where everyone picked up glazed old fashioned and cake donuts with chocolate frosting from donut shops all over the Puget Sound. There were donuts from Rodeo, Top Pot, The Original Bakery, Daily Dozen, Madison Park Bakery, and Countryside donut shop, plus a donut shop /teriyaki /laundromat in Rainier Beach. Of all these places, Family Donut shop got the most votes and won! I liked the cake donut w/chocolate frosting the best. We also ordered a maple bacon long john, and it blew Voodoo donuts out of the water. Delicious. They’re also ridiculously friendly.

Amazing family own donut shop. Decently priced especially for the taste. If you have not gone you definitely need to go. You definitely have to try their bacon maple bar, your taste buds will thank you.

Best maple bacon donut in town! Its chopped up so you can enjoy bacon in every bite. Great selection, good prices and super friendly! Super fresh and they will sell out because they are so delicious.

I love the apple fritter, actually the only complaint is that it’s too big? you can’t eat other things so you always have to share this delicious monster treat. It’s been a couple years since I’ve been here, but I was inspired after an overpriced fritter had at BlueStar Doughnut in Portland. Good Job Family Doughnut — a legit hole in the wall.

The donuts are perfect, there’s a great selection, and it’s very inexpensive. It’s way better than Top Pot and costs about half as much. Let me put it this way: you can eat a dozen donuts here, and with all the money you save you can pay for your own liposuction, you fat bastard.

I love this place! It is a bit of a «hole I the wall» type joint but that adds to the charm. Come get the best donuts in Seattle but please leave a Bismark for me.

This doughnut shop is one of the few that actually sells French Crullers, which are my personal favorite! And they are glorious. Make sure to arrive early; Everything here is so delicious that they are known to frequently sell out!

These donuts are perfect. If you love light, airy donuts, this is your place. Big variety, the lady who works here is super nice, and this place is super affordable. The only dangerous thing is you are bound to come home with a bunch of donuts and eat way too many. You won’t be disappointed!

I’m not a fan of donuts but my friend Chelsea J. is so we stopped by here. I had a bite of the glazed — I’m boring — and enjoyed the pillowy texture. My friend had the cake donut, the bear claw, the crueller, the bacon maple, and 3 more I can’t remember. She loved it so much, she ate all of it! If that isn’t worth five stars, I don’t know what is!

I’m writing this as I stuff my face with donuts. After reading the reviews my boyfriend and I woke ourselves at 7AM and took a drive. Firstly, I can smell the the fresh donuts 15 feet away exiting the vehicle. I’ve NEVER experienced that before. I imagine that’s what my heaven should smell like. Secondly, upon entering the layout– while small is very lovely. Molasses glaze-color walls, some animé ‘thank you’ drawings, and of course freshly baked donuts! Thirdly, the family that owns this establishment got it right: the wife makes the donuts and places them on display as we ordered and the husband takes and prepares the orders with all of his friendliness and charm. Did I mention it’s AFFORDABLE? $ 3.50 for 3 donuts and $ 2 latte. Can’t go wrong in a city that gouges people’s wallets for the hell of it. Texture: My cruller was crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and tasted sweetly sinful. Every donut features different areas of light crunch paired with a melt-in-your-mouth softness. What kept coming to mind was the perfect oversized funnel cake. Don’t hesitate. Just go.

Thank you fellow Unilocalers for finding this gem! I have to say that I am a donut traditionalist. Give me a good old fashioned ring with powdered sugar and I am a happy camper. Today I stopped in for 6 donuts. Chocolate cake, glazed, powdered, bacon maple, plain crueller, and bear claw. They were all fresh, fluffy, and delicious. I was surprised by the bacon maple bar. I didn’t think I would like it but it is delicious!!! Their cake donut was light and moist. Just like a cake! I know all you Seattleites out there think Top Pot is the best donut. But it’s just because you haven’t been here yet! Also, a box of day old donuts is $ 4! Looks like there are about 8 – 10 donuts in the box!

The donuts here taste fresh and homemade. The interior of the shop is a typical run-of-the-mill donut shop in a dated strip center. But who cares! You’re not there to linger and stay– you’re there to get in, get donuts, and leave! I got a few donuts and a maple-bacon bar. The donuts I did get to taste were delicious, especially the orange-icing covered donut. You could tell the icing was homemade because it had a really authentic orange flavor. The maple bacon bar was delightful, and something I will definitely order again. It is a regular maple bar with tons of bacon sprinkled on top. The maple icing was sweet but had a very distinct maple richness, which perfectly complimented the smokey and salty bacon. I loved it. They were easily the best donuts I’ve had in Seattle, and probably the best donuts I’ve had in my life. They are worth going out of the way. I will certainly be back.

Family Donut is still my favorite donut place. Every donut is perfect from the maple bar to the classic cake donut. I’m a simple girl and tend to stick to the cake donut. That plus a cup of coffee and I am very happy. The owner is always very nice and he remembers you even when it’s been awhile. I’d pick Family Donut over Top Pot or Mighty-O any day(and I do)! A mixed dozen is now $ 10.99 including tax.

I needed some sweet treats to take back home to Chicago. This shop has easy off/on access to I5 so our stop on the way to the airport was fast and easy. The parking lot had ample parking with easy access. The store is at the east end of the strip mall and could be missed. I was in and out of the store in under two minutes and that’s a big plus in my book. The place is clean, has a small number of tables for those wishing to gobble down a fritter before heading home to share the wealth of treats, and there were plenty of employees at 7am on a Friday to help the number of commuting customers on the way to work. All pluses. My one and only issue is the lack of descriptions on all but the Maple Bacon Long John. As an out-of-towner I assumed some more popular varieties and was back out the door. Had there been names on each one I’m sure I’d have grabbed a few more to try back home or on the airplane but didn’t want to chance something not turning out to be not what I expected. On my tight schedule and quick customer flow it just didn’t make sense to start asking about the ten or so unusual looking donuts and wasting additional time. Otherwise a perfect experience and they were still super fresh and flavorful after a couple thousand miles and almost 12 hours of driving, flights, waiting, and more driving to get back home to Chicago. Good experience.
