I live next door and there really isn’t much to eat in walking distance. Also, I literally eat at Phở Cyclo everyday… so there that too. And taco del mar is no bueno. Standard mediocore teriyaki. The chicken could be more moist, and have more flavor.

Simple, straightforward, but nothing to die over. However, prices are very reasonable, staff is friendly, great specials, and the food is tasty. Walk down with 10 – 15 dollars and you’ll have a good meal with some leftovers. Good for a neighborhood spot!

A solid teriyaki joint. So long as you’re not expecting the world, you should be pleased with the food and service at Koibito’s. I had the chicken and california roll; portion sizes were good and the food was tasty. I’ll definitely be coming back here.

First time writing a bad review on Unilocal! I normally order my lunch to go, since Koibito is 2 mins away from my office. Mediocre food, but they will take a big while to process your order. This is DEFINITELY not the place you want to go for a quick lunch. I finally had a chance to dine in at Koibito today. I ordered a pot of greentea for drink and wanted to add more hot water into the pot to reduce a strong test of the tea. Seeing hot-water dispenser and tea-cups sitting out in the dining area, I assumed this was one of those restaurants where customers served themselves complimentary water. While I was adding hot water into my pot, a male waiter rudely yelled at me from across the dining area«Ma’am! can you not do that!?» At my table, I asked him why I couldn’t add more hot water into my teapot. He gave me a NASTY look and shouted«It’s not a self-service!!», then walked away leaving me with attentions from other surrounding tables. My friends and I were upset and do not wish to ever go back there again!

We live a half block from these folks. The fish is fresh and the slices are thick. I like their miso soup and shrimp tempura. The staff is super friendly and helpful. I’m going to miss this place when we move.

This is your average teriyaki place. I just got the black chicken teriyaki. It was good, I wished there were more of a good char on the chicken though. It comes with salad and rice. The salad comes with thousand island dressing with is fine but I like the mayo sesame dressing that usually comes at other teriyaki places. There isn’t too much to eat in the area.

Look, it is a hold in the wall. However, the food is awesome and the service great. Owners, put up a Unilocal sign, your quality product is you best asset. Also, work on getting the store sexy. I want dim and neon light.

After six months I’ve been back a few times and the service and the food quality has greatly improved. The sushi ingredients are much fresher and the entrees are much tastier than before. Still a bit high on price, but with such limited options in this neighborhood, I’ll take it.

As far as Teriyaki places go Koibito is decent. Kobitio is what used to be Sushi Bay and Union Lake Teriyaki. I’m not sure why the name has changed three times in the past year, but the quality has remained fairly consistent. My typical order is the Spicy Chicken Teriyaki with an extra side of Sriracha. If you are ordering take out I strongly recommend you call in your order ahead of time as I’ve had to wait a bit when I ordered at the counter.

They have a sign advertising Japanese beers when you walk in, but they offer no alcohol. The staff stands and chatters incessantly in the dining area. I feel like I walked into a college dorm room. No commitment to serve the customer at all. I will never come back to this place. Ever!

The sushi is okay if you’re not picky about how it’s rolled during a lunch rush, but fried gyoza? My heart breaks. I could barely chew through one before abandoning them to someone else. This would not be a place I’d bring my koibito.

Koibito is a very welcome change from Union Lake Teriyaki(ah, the PTSD-esque memories…), but still has its ups and downs. Interestingly, I’m neither a fan of their sushi nor their teriyaki, but I really do enjoy their Yaki-Udon, which includes generous portions of stir-fried udon noodles, veggies, and the meat of your choice. I was also very impressed by the fact that the yaki-udon wasn’t drenched in sauce as most yakisoba-esque dishes are. Now, onto the other dishes… Their spicy chicken teriyaki is a bit greasy, which is strange because I don’t think I’ve ever noticed grease in teriyaki before. The sushi is pretty meh and not really memorable. However, several of my coworkers have noted that the BiBimBap is delicious and a reliable option. I do have to give Koibito props for the awesome service – the staff is always very welcoming and efficient!

3 minutes walk from home? Can’t beat that! Went here for dinner on my own. They’re closed from 3pm to 5pm so I went to Starbucks next door to wait it out. I didn’t mind that as much as I got to have a cup of coffee and read on my kindle for a good half an hour. Walked in at 5 pm. The girl that works there was very friendly. Ordered the honeymoon roll, spider roll with soft shell crab topped with unagi. And had gyozas for appies. They gave you 10 gyozas per order! Awesome if they were yummy but it was bland and was way too much for one person lol deep fried! So it was super crispy. The sushi roll was okay but I didn’t have high expectation so I was not disappointed. The softshell crab was deep fried in a very sweet batter almost like corn dog batter… That was kind of weird. The unagi was good if the crab taste didn’t add a funky after taste to it. All in all it was a decent meal. $ 20 for a roll and gyoza, pretty pricy but at least now I know what’s around me!

I work pretty close, and except for the rotating food trucks and a couple chain restaurants, there aren’t too many great choices for lunch. But, if you enjoy Asian food, you’ll be happy to sit down to lunch at Koibito. It’s a solid place for lunch. It’s kind of a hybrid sushi restaurant and teriyaki place. The teriyaki is good and the sushi is decent.

I had a great lunch here! It was about $ 8 plus tip for a rice bowl that included veggies and beef! The service was fast, our server was very friendly as she seemed to enjoy her job! The food itself was delish, I liked the sauce on the beef. It had the right amount of veggies and rice, a little more beef would have been better, but then again sometimes less is more! The menu features both teriyaki and sushi. I peeked at other guests sushi and the cuts of sashimi looked pretty good! I would definitely give this place a shot, especially if you work in the south lake union area!

Great service and decent prices. They just opened after Union Lake Teriyaki closed. Hopefully they’ll succeed after being the third restaurant there(Sushi Bay was the first). Decent variety of sushi and good teriyaki. Sign hasn’t changed yet on the building because it still says Union Lake Teriyaki. The owner was nice and very hospitable. I will be back.
