Minor & James Medical

They cancelled my appointment 15min before the appointment time because the doctor is not working. They called my husband/​emergency contact to tell this cancellation because they put wrong number so that they couldn’t reach me. No available doctors and appointments I could have for the day. I was really sick and took a day off for this ridiculous appointment from work!
The people over the phone were not friendly and helpful at all. Don’t choose this clinic if you have other choices.

I will write more about this when I calm down. I am sick of the disorganization and hypocrisy of the place! Please let me know if you have experienced this as well. I am going to report to AMA. Do NOT complain to management. Doctors with retaliate and not help you.

I think the doctors here are probably ok, but the whole clinic is managed poorly, ranging from facility, process to documentation.
1. some of the facilities are quite dated. In 2015, those digital endoscope only cost several thousand dollars, they do not have it. The doctors are still relying on their own vision, mirror and rusty endoscope to examine the interior of the patients. I wrote the feedbacks to their CEO, no response.
2. the management of the process is chaotic, they are basically a bunch of individual doctors sitting in the same building. Each doctor has his/​her own supporting stuff. The management clearly is not putting enough efforts to coordinate among doctors to care the patient. It is a physician centric hospital.
3. the medical record management is so behind. If you want to forward your medical record to another hospital, you got to fax your document to them. There is no way to track it. For me, it just never arrived. I eventually visited the medical record division in person to fetch my records.

Stay away if you can. Unfortunately my insurance only covers specialists at MJ.
Utter incompetence. Be prepared to wait 4 months or more to get a prescription refill. I’ve been waiting on my Humira refill now for two months. They will fail to sign things, or transpose numbers, or simply give up because it’s «too hard» because they can’t figure out the «new computer system». They’ve been using this excuse for 3 years now…
If you are on any type of life-​saving medication and you are a patient here, you would be wise to stockpile some for when it’s refill time. Or find a black market supply.

This place has the most awful billing department. Never going back here again.

I’m leaving this bureaucratic nonsense. I haven’t seen my primary care physician in three years (because I’m a healthy person), and I need to be seen today because of an injury. They won’t let me be seen until next Monday because they require me to be considered a new patient again. F*** this.
Go elsewhere!

About two years ago my right knee was in bad shape. It hurt to walk, hurt to go up stairs, and sounded like firecrackers and rice crispies popping in my knee when I walked. I became sedentary, because my knee kept me from being overly active, and as a result, put on weight. I was also diagnosed with fibromyalgia, complicating the problem.
Since Doctor Jurek performed the surgery on my knee, so much has changed. I have been put on medication for the fibromyalgia, and have steadily gotten more and more active. Now, 10 months later, I have lost two pants sizes and have been training with a Lucasfilm recognized lightsaber choreography group. I do yoga, and walk or take stairs whenever I can. I feel wonderful… and she made it possible.
So I hope she reads this. Thank you, Doctor Jurek. You helped me so much. I feel better, I’m active again, and most importantly, I’m enjoying life again. Thank you so much for what you did for me. This wouldn’t have been possible without your expertise.

Minor & James is a very difficult organization to deal with. There are some very good Doctors but dealing with the office administration will be one of the most frustrating experiences you will experience.
If you call the main number you will be on hold for a very long time. The doctor’s assistants do not have voice mail so the operator attempts to scribe a message. I’ve yet to see this process work. Coding problems seem to be common and almost impossible to sort out. I would not recommend starting a relationship with M&J.

If you are looking for a hospital that thinks of its patients first, Minor & James Medical is NOT recommended.
Because my doctor is on vacation and I changed insurance company, my new insurance company would like to get a ‘pre authorization’. You would think Minor & James would have my detailed medication records but NO, they insist that it is MANDATORY for me to take off from work and pay to see another doctor again because ‘Your records are in two different databases and it would take too long to try to find them.’ So their policy is to force me to come see them again! I don’t have a problem with my primary doctor, it’s the Hospital itself that has really lame policies. It is not as easy task to get off from work at this short notice plus I work hourly so it’s even more insane. It’s 2015 and «they only started digitizing records two weeks ago.»!

Apparently there are two entries for this particular location, so I figured I’d add my review to this entry as well. I have been here three times and never waited less than half an hour in the waiting room. After I have the pleasure of wasting time in the waiting room, I have never waited less than 25 minutes in the exam room. All told, I generally spend at least 2 hours at this clinic, 15 minutes or less of which is actually spent with the doctor. I finally went shopping for another doctor after my most recent visit when I waited for 45 minutes, only to be told that my doctor still had 2 patients in exam rooms and the appointment ahead of mine has still not even been taken into the back. Absolutely ridiculous customer/​patient care. Clearly this is not an isolated issue but an ongoing problem that they would rather not address. More patients crammed in the schedule means more co-​pays and more insurance/​Medicare reimbursements. Who cares if the you waste the patients’ time? Would not recommend. As an update, after I originally wrote this review in April, I just received a check in the mail to refund me for the co-​pay I paid before having to leave without ever seeing my doctor. That’s right, THEY screwed up and then took SIX MONTHS to refund my $ 35. Awful.

I decided to see Dr. Knapp for sinus-​related issues after reading rave reviews about him. The staff was friendly and well organized, and Dr. Knapp seemed nice and knowledgeable. However, I ultimately regret having wasted my time and money, and will steer clear of Minor & James in the future.
Despite having explained myself several times that I was looking for a permanent solution and did not want to rely on regularly taking drugs (I don’t take any long-​term prescription medication and typically even stay away from over-​the-​counter pain killers and other drugs), all I seemed to get was one prescription after another, starting with a dose of anti-​biotics that did nothing for me but give me a bad case of thrush (fungal infection of the mouth typically caused by antibiotics).
The end result is that I lost 2 days of work because one of the drugs knocked me out and the other gave me insomnia. I researched all of the drugs that were prescribed to me, and did not see any evidence at all that any of them would result in a permanent cure, despite the doctor’s claims. One of the drugs had such a list of long and terrible side effects, that I decided not to even bother taking it despite having paid for it.
The reason I’m writing this review is that an allergy test was recommended to me, and I thought it was worth doing. I was warned to check with my insurance company to make sure that it was covered (it was), and that most insurance companies cover it, but I was never warned about the cost! I was told it would take a little over an hour, and I figured it would cost a couple hundred dollars at most (which is why I didn’t even bother checking with my insurance). I was completely shocked when I received my bill. I was charged $ 1468.00! My insurance covered much of it, but I still had to pay $ 482.05 out of pocket due to my deductible. That’s just ridiculous! When I called the doctor’s office, they only offered me a payment plan. A few months later, I got a call from Minor & James, offering me a 35% discount. When I called back later that afternoon with my credit card, they refused to give me the discount because they said they made a mistake. I was so angry, I refused to pay. When I finally decided to pay the bill in full after they had sent me a final reminder, they told me that they had already reported the amount due to collections, but took my full payment.
The entire process ended up costing me well over a thousand dollars and not any better off that I was before. I don’t have an issue at all with Dr. Knapp and most of his staff. I just think that it’s extremely unprofessional not to warn a patient of a potentially huge bill for something that seems routine. Had I known that the allergy test would cost more than $ 300 (much less $ 1500!) I wouldn’t have bothered with it. What a joke!

Parking is a nightmare & –1 stars. However Dr. Moss & Shara are rockstars who care. They both deserve 10 stars!!!

I’ve gone here on and off (off for insurance reasons) for 6 years. I can always get an appointment in a reasonable amount of time, there’s parking, staff is friendly and efficient.
And get this: Dr. Juliet Liu is my new favorite human being. I’ve had back pain since my teen years. A knot would form near my tailbone and make it so I couldn’t stand for long. I saw chiropractors, massage therapists, back specialists, you name it — for about decade. First appointment with Dr Liu, she pokes my «knot» and says «nope, that’s a cyst, you know you can get that removed, right? How about Tuesday?» Pain free for two years now. THE BOMB.

Like most people, I’m not a fan of doctors.
I have found, at Minor and James Rheumatology department, a capable, caring and thorough doctor named Kristi Kenyon. Dr. Kenyon has a commendable bedside manner, effective listening skills (so rare!) and a determination for success I haven’t found elsewhere.
And like any good superhero, her sidekick/​head nurse Loli, is an amazing human and skillful support system for the doc.
The staff at the front desk are polite and pleasant and I’ve never had a problem that wasn’t solved after I called attention to the issue.
I’m sure all the departments are different but I’ve truly found someone I’d like to work with until I get my aggravating, painful condition under control. I wish everyone who has a chronic disease could be this lucky.

Awful service. I have left two phone messages regarding my prescriptions in the last month. An electronic voice assured me each time that my phone call will be rturned within one business day. Needless to say I’m still waiting. Also it’s almost impossible to get through to the person resposnible for making appointments. They are nearly always «away from their desk» or «assisting other people». The only reason I stay with this outfit is I can’t stand having to go through the paperwork rigmarole with a new doctor’s office. I dread having to try to get anything done on the phone with this group. Just grim.

My service with a new physician was quick and friendly. I am going back

Where to begin? How about with my most recent beefs with Minor & James:
11 days to refill 2 prescriptions.
9 days to return repeated phone calls from me and my pharmacy.
The inability to understand simple requests like please call me on my cell phone.
I’ve been a patient at M&J PLLC for most of my adult life. But my recent boob scare this summer combined with a dramatic decline in service over the past several years has made me finally realize this place has gone to the dogs. The DOGS I tells ya!
No really, Trixie provides better care.
Minor & James, you’re FIRED!

After a positive experience with the facilities in Bellevue for my fiancé, I booked an appointment for myself at the First Hill office, and I have been pretty disappointed so far. I saw a new doctor to their internal medicine staff, Dr. Mei Allison. While she was friendly enough, she didn’t seem as knowledgeable as I would have liked. There seemed to be distinct communication issues. This was confirmed when I went to pick up a prescription from the pharmacy that she supposedly faxed it to and discovered they had never received it. I called the main number and was transferred four times before reaching her assistant’s voice mail. I left a message early in the day, around 10am, and I never received a call back, despite the recording stating that calls would be returned at the end of the business day.
If I do decide to return to Minor and James, I will request a different doctor, but at this point I am considering finding another medical group or perhaps a smaller doctor’s office.

Recently returned after 4 year hiatus (didn’t have insurance), was a client for 7 years prior. Pleased to say that the service is even better after consolidating practitioners under the Minor and James fold. No lengthy paperwork to come back after hiatus (1 – 2 pgs. max)
Efficient central scheduling, easy access to my Doctor’s Medical Assistant. Friendly, professional front desk staff. Didn’t give me stink eye when I was 5minutes late for my appt.
Minimal wait time to see me Dr. (after check-​in), less than 5−7minutes.
I see my PCP there, but also a Ear, Nose, Throat Dr. (allergies). I like the central location for both services.
