Ew. Ew. Ew. Ew. Ew. Ew. Ew. Ew. Ew. Ew. Ew. Ew. Ew. Ew. Ew. The worst thing done to Vietnam since the 1960’s.

Came in to an empty restaurant and an overpriced Vietnamese sandwich. The worst part is the restaurant smelled awful! Maybe the smell is the ingredients, but holy schnikies! Never smelled a phở shop like that?! Service was fast. Will come back to comment on food. Okay 8″ sub was delicious. Bread wasn’t as big as I have had as far as fluffiness. Crunch was good. I can justify the higher cost by the amount of product in the sandwich. I upped it from 2 to 3 stars because of the tasty food, but I couldn’t have eaten it in the restaurant. Too smelly.

It’s like Subway for Vietnamese food. If this were in Florida, I’d be more impressed… but it’s not. It’s located in the Pacific Northwest where there are literally 10 better Vietnamese restaurants within a 7 mile radius that don’t overcharge because they think they’re a beautiful and unique snowflake (10 points to whoever caught that reference). Think about it.

I have no desire to pay TRIPLE for a Banh Mi that I could get at half a dozen different Vietnamese restaurants nearby along the Ave. It’s a crime to charge $ 9 for a $ 3 sandwich. Plus, I NEVER see more than one other person in the restaurant eating. How are they still in business?!

It tasted good but it was fairly small for its cost

This is my favorite Bahn mi spot, I’ve been coming here for years and came in several times this past week alone. Their sandwiches are excellent: great bread, fresh veggies and a good meat selection(and tofu). I like the grilled pork but the Chinese pork is also good. I sometimes get the combo with spring rolls. A good size sandwich is $ 5/$ 6 which I will happily pay for a quality product. For those who said it was bland, u should try adding some chili sauce, siracha or plume sauce. The vietnamese iced coffee is also excellent. I look forward to trying their vietnamese bowls as they look delicious! Some may say that this place is overpriced, I’m sure the rent they pay in that new residential/commercial space is a lot. Definitely give this place a try.

First time trying this place today and it will probably be my last. The place was empty and when I walked in, the cashier didn’t say a thing to me until I said hi. I had the grilled pork banh mi and there was no flavor. Pretty boring. Oh well.

My review is just for their specialty vermicelli noodles. First of all, the best cold vermicelli noodles I’ve ever had. I’ve been going here since they opened and the quality has been consistently great. They use fresh vegetables and herbs for the noodles and you can really taste it. I always get the chicken specialty noodles, but my boyfriend likes the pork and both are delicious. Try it with the fish sauce and spicy chili sauce if you like spicy! Overall, very fresh ingredients and large portion size for their noodles. Other reviewers don’t seem to like their sandwiches as much, but the noodles are a must try!

Combo lunch sandwich and spring roll for $ 9. Inexpensive, tasty, and fresh veggies. Good for quick snack or lunch. Good place for students on budget. Street parking only. Few tables if you eat on site.

Journey a few blocks west to the heart of U district for more flavor and better prices. Friendly staff but they take their sweet time getting around to taking and filling orders. Waaaay overpriced(almost double for what you can find in ID and U district) and on the bland side. Clean interior but not much in the way of ambience, similar setup to Chipotle. Not my thing. Maybe good for the more basic costumer(hello, U Village is literally right across the street) who is uncertain about trying Vietnamese food, but certainly not for me. Iced coffee was good, but small for $ 3 and had a lot of grounds. Spring rolls were alright, but flavorless with skimpy meat portions.

Good Vietnamese sandwiches, although better ones are out there and at lower prices. Seriously, eight dollars for a twelve-incher is a bit unusual when you can get them at the $ 5 – 6 range. They also have no phở, but they do have vermicelli noodles. Whatever. Not all Vietnamese restaurants have to serve phở. They have a large selection and many ways for your order of a sandwich to be done. At the end of the day, the high prices and somewhat remote location from UW make this a hard trip to justify. Even getting a French iced coffee was expensive; it was $ 2.95 for a really tiny cup. Overall decent food, but not my cup of tea.

Banh mi and spring roll combo is great for lunch. Delicious bread. Loved the sausage spring roll.

$ 6 for an 8 inch or $ 9 for a 12 inch Bahn mi that I can get elsewhere for $ 3 and have it be way better? Um, yeah. Not coming back. If it were amazing and I were really really craving a Vietnamese sammy and I was in the area? Maaaaybe. The bread was untoasted, the grilled chicken unseasoned and skimpy, and the accompanying veggies scarce and wilted. Not worth it.

The ban mihs are nothing special. Filling is very minimal and the meat lacks flavor and is served at room temperature. Their spring rolls are also just about the average you would see anywhere else. The prices are slightly above average. If you are in a hurry and need a quick bite and are walking by I’d say it’s good enough but definitely not something you would go out of your way for. Honestly in a city with so much quality Vietnamese food this doesn’t hit the mark. Their noodles looked nice though but ¾ of the menu is sandwiches so I expect that would hit the mark.

Not bad, but there are so many really good Vietnamese restaurants around, you can better. Everything was just a little on the bland side.

Long time Unilocaler, First time reviewer. Here it goes… This place is excellent. The negative reviews from other Unilocalers are truly a mystery to me, as the sandwich I just consumed was by far one of the best I’ve had in the area. Was it a little bit cold? Maybe. Did that make it less delicious? Absolutely not. Also, the carrots and veggies were great! Since when is it a bad thing to have a healthy amount of veggies in a sandwich? Do yourself a massive favor and get yourself an iced coffee from this place… Best damn iced coffee I’ve ever had. They actually cold brew the stuff and it’s fuckin fantastic… The deliciousness may be due to the extreme sugariness from the condensed milk, but that doesn’t change the fact that the coffee itself is really good(such flavor! Much delicious!)… On top of all this, the guy at the counter was genuinely nice and the prices are more than reasonable… Go support this place! I would hate to see it close.

I am not very happy with this place right now. The last couple of times I order sandwiches from them, the radish/carrot«pickles» were not pickled at all. They are bland, no flavor like they used to have. They used to be really good. The tofu was dry and had no flavor. There was nobody else in the restaurant and it took them over 15 minutes to make two sandwiches. The quality of the sandwich and service went downhill FAST. What’s worse, I emailed the customer service via their website about my complaints like 2 weeks ago like«did you happen to change the recipe?» I was nice about it, but I did not hear a peep from them. They don’t seem to give a crap.

Good for quick healthy bite but theres not much to offer. The sandwiches and fresh spring rolls were both super fresh and I was able to get plenty of hot pepper flakes and dipping sauce! Service is a little slow but friendly!

Plume just moved into our neighborhood, directly across from UVillage. Its something this neighborhood really needs: a well-priced, basic, clean Vietnamese grab and go spot. Particularly one with easy, free parking(down below) instead of the spots on the Ave. that require tenacity, bumpers or lots of single dollar bills. Plume specializes in tasty and well priced bahn mi sandwiches with fresh, toasted french bread and the normal accompaniments: some type of grilled meat(or tofu) sliced cucumbers, pickled carrots, daikon radish, cilantro and jalapeño. If you are used to a nice heat level like you might get in the ID, then you won’t find it here. Definitely mild mannered. At $ 5.95 for a 8″ sandwich, here in the pricey NE of Seattle, equals an okay price and a better tasting sandwich than Subway.(Keep in mind, I consider warm bread and sriraccha a sandwich. And why not?) The neighborhood tends to lack good value takeout and eat-in spots, and Plume does well here. Lunch specials are a good deal, particularly the one with the bahn mi and spring roll combo. The menu is simple. Its basically bahn mi, bun(vermicelli noodles & grilled meat with a tangy, spicy fish sauce mixture) and seven different types of spring rolls(for $ 4.75) The french bread on the bahn mi was warm and crisp, which for me is over half the recipe for success on a Vietnamese sandwich. Meat is a weak link, it seems reheated, as is heat and flavor levels, which are sadly dialed down low. I appreciate bit of Vietnamese deli food closer to home, and easier on my wallet.
