We take an individualized approach to pet care. All of our clients’ dogs, cats, and other pets enjoy one-​on-​one time with our professional staff during their walks and visits.

In addition to group puppy classes, we offer standard and customizable packages for obedience instruction for you and your dog in the privacy of your home.

We are fully licensed and insured, certified in pet CPR and First-​Aid, and formally educated in dog obedience training. We specialize in puppy socialization and group classes, rescue dog training, and solving common problem behaviors.

Hello and Thanks for visiting our profile. My name is Wesley Hawkins, and I own Puget Sound Puppers. As a dog «dad» myself, I understand how it feels to put in long hours at work while your furry friend stays home alone. Or having to travel but not being able to take your dog along with you. It’s important to have someone you can rely on to give your pet the same care you would. That’s where we come in. I started Puget Sound Puppers to provide Seattle’s busy dog owners with a way to meet the exercise and companionship needs of their dogs. We are experienced professionals who love dogs and are committed to providing the best service in town to all our pupper parents.

I was born and grew up in Chicago. After earning a BA in American History, I did a variety of work, including short fiction writing, journalism, gardening, and cooking. As a professionally trained chef, I worked in some of the top hotel kitchens in Chicago. I enjoyed cooking in luxurious places for a living, but the pace and the grind finally got to me. So, I decided to do what I loved best as a kid, and I left the kitchen to hang around with dogs for a living.

Switching from life as a chef to become a dog care professional may seem pretty radical, but since I’ve been around dogs my whole life, it was actually a rather natural transition.

Pictured with me is my dog Che, a five-​year-​old Labrador who changed my life when I got him at 49 days old. It’s taken many hours of study and patient effort to teach him how to behave decently, and his training is still ongoing of course. But I think the time spent teaching and exercising him is what inspired me to pursue this profession.

I used PSP over the weekend for a Saturday afternoon walk, and Narayan emailed when he was starting the walk and he emailed a recap when he finished up. I take my pup to work, so I dont need regular PSP walks. With most dog walking services, you have to book regular walks, but with PSP, you can schedule random walks here and there as you need them. I’m so happy to find them and will use them as my go-​to whenever I have to leave my baby at home for too long.

We are so, so, so incredibly lucky to have found Narayan and Puget Sound Puppers. Our two wild and crazy rescues love Narayan and are spoiled rotten when he comes to walk them! It took a few months for one pup to warm up to him, but his kindness and patience has won her over.
We often go out of town on last minute trips and all it takes is one email to Narayan– and he is so gracious and quick to help us out. We always know that if he is coming to check in on our girls, they are in great hands. The transactions are all done via email/​online payments, which also makes everything super easy. I would recommend Narayan/​PSP to anyone and everyone… they are amazing.

Narayan is the best! He is awesome with Snowy, our westie. He brings him for walks, being attentive to him and cleans him up so well after. We gave him a list of things to watch out for and he follows every single one of them. Snowy loves him and is so excited every time he comes to the house to get him. He gives great notes about the walk and let us know if there’s anything unusual. He’s also punctual and has never missed a walk, would highly recommend him!

Puget Sound Puppers is simply AMAZING. We have two dogs, one of whom is very scared and skittish. It’s difficult to introduce him to new people, let alone find a new dog walker. Narayan has been working with us for about a month now and has made HUGE progress with our little buddy. I have never seen progress this fast before. Narayan is not only patient, but really knows a lot about dog training, behavior, psychology… the whole nine yards. This is a truly professional group of people! I would definitely recommend Puget Sound Puppers to anyone looking for a new dog walker or sitter.

OMG.
How have I not written a Unilocal review for Puget Sound Puppers?! I absolutely love these guys and I know that my dogs do, too.
We have been working with Wesley as our primary walker for well over a year. Roger and Coco are naturally an anxious bunch, so having their afternoon walk helps calm them down a bit. Coco’s not very picky, but Roger is very suspicious of strangers, so knowing that he trusts Wesley means a lot to me.
It’s always nice to get the email to see how they did that day, and we can always count on Wesley to be very clear in his communication to us. It’s so easy to get quick responses back from both Wesley and Jaime (who manages all the billing and scheduling changes).
We have even had Wesley stay overnight while we were traveling, too.
I tell all my friends and colleagues about PSP. They have clients all over Seattle and the Eastside, not just West Seattle. If you are a discerning dog owner, PSP is for you.

It’s been a loooooooong time since I wrote a Unilocal review but I felt compelled to after utilizing Puget Sound Puppers’ in-​home pet sitting service… which is awesome! PSP is so awesome, I can’t figure-​out a cohesive way to gush about them so I’ll share some illustrative bullets:
The situation:
— 1 anxious Saluki who can be a bit of a handful on walks
— 1 retired-​racer Greyhound who is still learning she can’t go in the house… and then got a bit of a stomach bug of the rear-​end variety right before we left (of course!)
— 1 cat
— 1 dog mom who can’t imagine putting them in a kennel (and 1 dog dad who is a bit more chill)
The results:
— 3 animals who hardly knew anything happened (but they still missed us — gotta love that homecoming!)
— 2 dog parents who were able to relax and enjoy their vacation (and enjoy daily updates/​photos to see how well the dogs were doing)
— 1 house that received additional house-​sitting benefits (security of having someone home, bringing in mail/​packages, etc.)
— 0 worries about the Grey’s «potty indiscretions» — PSP cleaned-​up after her and gave her the extra pumpkin in her food without any guilt (we hooked them up with a tip)
If you’re a big baby about leaving your dogs when you go out of town like I am, use this service! Having that extra piece of mind while you’re on your vacation will help you relax… like, double the value of your vacation. :-D
We will definitely be utilizing PSP for dog-​sitting (and additional services) in the future!

Yay! I am so happy with Puget Sound Puppers! My dog is very anxious and leery of strangers, so it really meant a lot to me that Narayan (one of the dog walkers) made sure that my dog & I both were comfortable and relaxed before talking business. Narayan is both professional while easy-​going/​personable, and how he goes about his work is a testament to how PSP is very client/​animal-​focused. Everytime I have contacted PSP for a consultation or last-​minute dog walking session, they have always responded to my request within minutes — even on a Sunday! Another great feature of PSP is that they make communication easy for people like me who are always on-​the-​go by utilizing email. I couldn’t ask for more. Highly highly recommend!

Wesley and his team are awesome! I have worked with them for the past couple of years and have always been extremely happy. I am overly concerned (some might say neurotic) about my dog and they have always been very reliable, friendly, and always send me updates when beginning each walk. My dog feels very comfortable with all of them and I can rest assured that he is being well taken care of. I appreciate the fact that they understand neurotic pet owners like me and work hard to make us feel less stressed about leaving.

So, in October of 2012, two 8 week old Australian Cattle Dogs moved in with my husband and I. Not long after, we were with them at the Beveridge Place Pub in West Seattle when a very nice guy stopped by to say hello to them. Turns out, it was Wesley Hawkins of Puget Sound Puppers. Every time we would run into him he’d stop and say hello. One point for being neighborly. Two points for remembering our pup’s names. Not long after, we began to use his service on a regular basis, and we’ve never looked back. Our puppies are now 13 months old, and Vivian walks them 4 times a week. These folks are ALWAYS accommodating, send daily updates of the walk (sometimes with a photo), and check in regarding vacations and holidays. Three points for Vivian recognizing us around town, just from knowing our dogs! PSP has a great community feel and take amazing care of our animals, all the while being professional AND fun. Four points to PSP, our puppies love you (and so do we)!

I highly recommend Puget Sound Puppers!
We have a schnauzer/​poodle mix named Payton who has been getting walked and trained by Wesley from Puget Sound Puppers. Payton in general was pretty scared of other dogs. He then ended up getting attacked by another dog while at a dog park, which made his fear of other dogs become even more pronounced. Payton would show how scared he was by barking non-​stop around any other dogs while on leash. Wesley worked with Payton during walks and now Payton is doing so much better. Payton now enjoys greeting other dogs while on walks and for the most part does not bark. More importantly, Payton seems to be way more calm on walks. If he does bark it is much more under control then it was a few months ago. Wesley was great about sharing how each walk went and what tools he was using to help with the barking.
As mentioned I highly recommend Puget Sound Puppers. Not only are they good at what they do but you can easily see how much they care for the dogs that they walk, train and/​or take care of.

My wife and I hired Puget Sound Puppers after 4 years of hiring several dog trainers to work with our very vocal Schnoodle. We hired «animal behavioralists,» Bark Busters, went to training classes and nothing seemed to make an impact. Because of his barking and people and all dogs, it was impacting his quality of life — we were too nervous and embarrassed to take our dog out in public.
We were close to throwing in the towel and just accepting we had an ill-​mannered dog and decided to hire Puget Sound Puppers to give it one last shot. We are very happy to say that our dog has dramatically improved and we now walk him 2x/​day and take him to parks, etc.
We are so thankful for all the PSP has done. They deeply they care about every four-​legged friend and it shows in their approach. I would wholeheartedly recommend them.

I have to once again thank Unilocal for their service. I haven’t been in Seattle very long and normally when I went on vacation I had a friend or family member take care of my dogs. Well, this vacation I had to find someone to take care of my dogs since I was going on vacation WITH my family and I haven’t established friends in the Seattle area. SO, I called upon Unilocal,and I found Puget Sound Puppers!
I sent off an email and received a response immediately. I set up an appointment with Wes for him to come over and meet my dogs and for us to talk about his services. Wes arrived right on time and my dogs instantly were drawn to him. He sad down and they were ALL over him.
I opted for him to stay at my house. I felt very comfortable with him and I trust my dogs’ judgement. While on vacation, Wes sent me daily updates along with photos! It was like I hadn’t left. I came home to very happy dogs and my house looked exactly how I left it.
I highly recommend Wes. You can tell that he has the best interest of the dogs and owners in mind.

I have two 50lb «puppies», they are great but high energy and need their walks. We have tried other places, and Puget Sound Puppers is the best! We get daily updates so we know they have been there. They point out any changes in behavior or other concerns. You have the same dog walker every day — a BIG thing for me. If someone is sick you get an update so you know that someone else will be in your house and way. LOVE LOVE LOVE their communication!!!

We have used Wesley a few times as an overnight dog care provider and an occasional dog walker. He has always been very professional and has always helped us out as needed.
