History
Established in 2004.
The founder, Ambrose Bittner, has traveled in Asia since 1990 and has lived in and knows the remote corners of its countries, the uniqueness of the cultures, and the ins and outs of getting around airports and immigration authorities. We understand that travel is a deeply personal experience and a personal travel consultant can help you sort through the options. All of our travel consultants have experienced the highlights and pitfalls of Asia travel – everything from the plushest hotels, beaches, and spas to the worst backpacker’s guesthouse and the most devious scams. We are committed to sharing our knowledge with you so that your journey to Asia is filled with a lifetime of rewarding memories.

Business Owner
Ambrose Bittner is an intrepid world traveler and adventurer, having visited over 30 countries on 6 continents. He has been traveling in Asia since 1988, and his experiences have included an attempt to climb Mt. Everest and exploration or local cultures throughout Asia.
Ambrose believes in responsible tourism from all sides, including the tourists and the companies, hotels, and communities that service them.
He is on the board of the Mitrata-Nepal Foundation for Children, a US-based 501©(3) organization dedicated to children’s causes in Nepal. He understands that not everyone benefits from tourism and that tourism can cause many problems in developing countries.
Related to the Mitrata cause, he organizes an annual charity climb of Mt. Rainier in Washington State called the Climb for Himalaya Children. Visit the Red Lantern Journeys web site to learn more at www.redlanternjourneys.com.
